Being late was one of the things I thought I was good at, however on this particular evening, that was rubbish. I had almost completely forgotten about me volunteering in the infirmary.

With my hair only partly brushed, and my tie not even tied right, I rushed through the halls till I made it there. two familiar red-headed twins were at the door, peaking through a crack. "what are you doing?" I asked.

"we've seen you before." one said, "yeah you were at our joke shop with robbingsworth!" the other piped in.

"yes, I was... um could you excuse me, I need to get in" I told the boys.

"you can try-" said one "but doubt madam Pomfrey will let you in..." said the other as they both moved out of the way.

"think ill be fine..." I lightly knocked on the door, as madam Pomfrey opened it with a glare.

"oh, it's you Lindsey." she sighed. "you are very late!" she rested her right hand on her hip. "come in..." she sighed.

"I'm sorry Madam Pomfrey... I was up studying," I told her.

"No time for excuses as a healer Lindsey!" Madam Pomfrey scolded. "Now if I were you I would hurry and get properly attired, we have a more serious patient today. And don't forget to tie your hair up!"

"yes ma'am!" I said a bit too loudly, I scouted the room to see one of the Weasleys lying in bed, Surrounded by potter, granger, and Ginny Weasley. I quickly tied my medium lengthen hair into an ugly tight pony, and tied an apron around my waist, and neck. "ready." I whispered to madam Pomfrey. I heard a screeching sound come from the door and noticed the Weasley twins had pushed the door open by accident. "Ma'am, should I let Fred and George Weasley in?" I asked.

Madam Pomfrey glared at the door, and rolled her eyes. "very well, you may let them in, but they must be quiet! none of the party dilly dally."

I rushed towards the door and opened it enough to peak out at the twins. "Madam Pomfrey says you may enter, but you must be quiet, you know how strict she can be with her rules" I whispered to the twins, as I slowly opened the doors with a creek.

as the two identical boys went to Ronald Weasleys side I went back to being Madam Pomfreys's shadow. "what happened to Ronald Ma'am?" I asked.

"the poor boy was poisoned, Luckily potter knew just what to give him... he'll have to stay here for a week or two though." she told me "a couple of weeks of taking the essence of rue will do the trick I believe."

"gee, granger looks sick ma'am. Think we should give her something? to calm her nerves I mean." I asked looking at the frighteningly pale girl.

"I'm sure the girl will be just fine." madam Pomfrey said. soon after she said that giant footsteps rung threw the hall, and hagrid- he was the magical creatures teacher for a small while - burst threw the door, he was covered in mud, and had a crossbow in hand, following him were big muddy footprints.

"ill clean that..." I sighed. I want and grabbed a rag and bucket and bucket and looked at the footprints, then I remembered a spell, I couldn't exactly remember where I learned it from, but I remember it... the scouring charm... Scourgify. with a flash of light and a pop the floors were clean. I smirked, slowly getting used to this non-verbal magic thing. but where did I learn that charm from, it was on the tip of my tongue? I believe it was fifth year... Umbridge's office, with Draco!

"no more than 6 visitors at a time!" madam Pomfrey scolded.

"Hagrid is six ma'am," a twin said.

Madam Pomfrey seemed to be embarrassed and quickly rushed towards me. "let me help you with that Lindsey" she said as she picked the useless bucket and rag up, and brought it to the small cabinet in the corner when more muggle-neutral supplies went.

without anything to do, I stood a fair distance away from Weasley and waited for Madam Pomfrey's instructions. soon two more red-headed people rushed into the room, Mrs. and Mr. Weasley if I remembered correctly. as the Weasley parents gushed over potter, madam Pomfrey had to strictly remind the only 6 visitors allowed in the infirmary at a time. potter and granger were quick to get up and leave, and hagrid quickly followed.

at this point, it was most likely past midnight. I could feel my eyelids getting heavier, and requested some energy magnifying potion. "I think you've done enough work for tonight, you may be excused. Remember not to be late next time!" Madam Pomfrey said.

"thank you, ma'am," I said groggily, as I took my apron off. I walked down the halls slowly, to be met with filthy filch, and his ghastly cat.

"Second time I've caught students out of bed tonight..." he smirked.

"Sir, I'm a volunteer at the infirmary, Madam Pomfrey's given me a pass to be out past curfew," I told him, of course, he wouldn't listen.

"we'll see about that..."
