"your seriously not going home for Christmas?" Sophie asked as we made sure she had all of her things packed. "that's just sad."

"I really should be studying," I told her. besides, I haven't seen my parents since Oma's funeral... I'm not quite ready to confront that yet...

"you're starting to sound like a Ravenclaw" Sophie laughed, "hand me that coat will you?"

I threw the blue coat to her, "make sure to write me."

"I will. we'd better get going, you gonna walk me to the train station?" she asked.

"sure."

....

It was just me now. I was highly tempted to study but something else came to mind. the mark on Draco's arm... I told him he didn't have to tell me what it was... but that didn't mean I couldn't find out what it was. I looked towards my merlin makers book and opened it. "What are some well-known symbols and marks in the wizarding world?" I asked, not sure if it would work. the book scrolled threw pages for a while, till it stopped. 'sacrid symbols'. I looked for a while none of them looking exactly like the one on dracos arm. losing hope I flipped to the last page in this section of the book, and there it was!

The Dark mark

The Dark Mark is the symbol of 'He Who Is Not To Be Named' and his followers, the Death Eaters. It refers both to a magically induced brand that every Death Eater wears on his or her inner left forearm and to the same symbol summoned in the sky by the spell Morsmordre.

I lost my breath when I read this... Draco was a death eater, the follower of the man who was out to kill or enslave all muggles alike... would he do such a thing? willingly? he couldn't... I saw the way he looked at that mark, he wasn't proud, he was scared! I squeezed the book in my hand and continued to read.

The Dark Mark appears as a glittering green skull with a snake protruding from its mouth. No one knows what the design is truly inspired from, but many speculate it's inspired by the house of Slytherin, and maybe even the great wizard himself.

The Dark Mark in the sky and on the Death Eaters' arms were different in appearance. The one in the sky is a skull with a snake coming out straight out of its mouth, while the brand on a Death Eater's arm was much more intricate and detailed, the snake being much longer and winding.

Many say that the death eaters will cast this mark in the sky after they have killed, to show, pride and institute fear into those around.

I closed the book not able to read more, "merlin..." I covered the book with my blanket and laid down, my heart beating rapidly.

"Boris" a sound came from the dorm door. "dinners ready, the rest of us girls were heading down. just letting you know"

"ok," I said, voice slightly cracking. I got up and headed for the great hall when I saw a shifty-looking Draco again. I didn't let him get away this time, I walked past him, grabbing his sleeve, and bringing him to a darker hall, where I pushed him near a wall. "lumo's minima" I whispered. "I know what that-" I pointed to my forearm "is" I saw his eyes widen, and I could feel his breath on my nose from our close proximity. "tell me Draco, was it your plan all along? for instance, you were acting fishy last year when it came out the 'he' was back, did you know then? had it already happened?" I felt my eyes teary for an unknown reason.

he pushed me away from him. "you don't know what you talking about." he frowned, brushing the wrinkles out of his sleeves.

"then please do enlighten me!" I shouted quietly.

"I can do what I want. I don't need your validation." he glared at me.

"This is a serious offense if it gets out!" I crossed my arms.

"you think I don't know that! I have no choice..." he walked away. after a while, I walked out of the dark hall and made it to dinner. no choice?
