"What a week." Sophie said, laying in her bed.
"Remember during the Yule Ball, when you said life gets harder from here!? Well, I think it's gotten harder." I sighed, rolling to look at her.
"You really think it was Marvel who spread those rumors?" She asked. It was stupid really, almost immediately after I had broken up with Marvel, rumors spread that I had been snogging Malfoy in secret.
"I don't know, it makes sense. He liked me a lot more than I realized." I groaned. "I suck!"
"I know!" She teased. Offended, I threw a pillow at her. "I'm joking!!!" She squealed.
"Anyways" I said, laughing. "How are you feeling?" I questioned.
Slapping her hands on her face, she groaned. "I just can't believe their engaged-" She rolled over to look at me. "I feel so stupid. Why wouldn't she tell me?!" She asked honestly.
"She's a pig!" I replied.
Sophie's eyes widened, before she started laughing. "Wow, so we're breaking out the big words I see."
"Oh, haha!" I mocked. I sat up, heading towards my vanity, before tying my hair into a short low ponytail. "You gonna come to lunch?"
"Your going, after those rumors?!! Where did you get the guts for that?" She asked.
"I learned from the best!" I laughed, before I sighed. "I have tutoring with Malfoy, I need to set up a time with him."
"Your seriously going through with that?" She said sitting up.
I shrugged. "Why not?"
"I could name a couple reasons. One, Malfoy is like your rival-"
I interrupted her. "I'm pretty sure that spot is reserved for Potter."
"Second, there are those rumors going around, and third, ITS MALFOY!" She finished.
"I know that, but OWLs are coming up, and I can't afford to fail! You know I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, besides as much as I'd like to disassociate with that git, maybe, just maybe, we could be civil after this!" I reasoned.
Sophie rolled her eyes as she hopped out of her bed. "I'm coming."

The halls were buzzing loudly, as drama hardly ever happened in the Hufflepuff house. Soon, a mopey-looking, pink-wearing, pig stood in front of me. "Miss Boris, is it?" I nodded my head in confusion. "I would like to see you in my office!" Her high-pitched voice screeched.
"May I ask why?" I questioned politely.
"Never mind that, meet me in my office please!!" She walked off snobbishly.
I looked over towards Sophie, but she just shrugged. "Ok... I'll see you later I guess!" I laughed, unsure of what was going on.
"Bye" Sophie waved as I started for Umbridge's office. There, I was met (again) with a pair of silver eyes.
"Malfoy?" He looked me up and down, with a snarl on his face before looking ahead.
"Ahh Mr Malfoy, Miss Boris!" Umbridge chirped. "You have arrived." She sat at her desk, crossing her hands. "I asked you to come here regarding rule number 26." she smiled, looking like a sociopath. "Now, seeing that Mr Malfoy's father works at the Ministry, and is a highly professional wizard, I will dismiss this." she paused. "However, I don't think law breaking should go unpunished, and recently a certain pair o l f twins have recked my office. So you two will be fixing it!" It was true, her office was a mess, pictures of kittens littered on the floor, random blobs of color stained the walls, and books were scattered everywhere. Umbridge stood up abruptly. "Now I will excuse you from your classes for now, however I must advise you to hurry, OWL's are coming up soon!" She said, leaving.
We started cleaning. "What's rule 26?" I mumbled.
Not bothering to look at me, Malfoy replied. "Boys and girls should not be permitted within 6 inches of one another." I thought for a moment, before my eyes widened. She was talking about the rumors!
"They should make a rule that teachers can't be audacious buttheads." I commented to myself.
"Careful, her kittens might tell her you said that." He joked, referring to the many kittens piled on the floor.
I laughed, the joke wasn't that funny- and Malfoy said it- but I still found my self giddy.
I peeked over towards Malfoy, hoping he hadn't heard me. But looking at the slight smirk on his face, it seems he had. Internally slapping my self, I went back to cleaning a stain on Umbridge's pink wall. "Not funny." I steadied my breath. Sighing, I changed the topic. "Where should we study? For potions tutoring I mean." I said, scrubbing the stain with a cloth.
"You were serious about that?" He asked.
"Of course! OWLs are coming up." I said, facing him. The wall behind him was now fully cleaned. "Holy Merlin, how did you do that!?" I had hardly gotten a single stain on my wall cleaned.
He looked at me, then to the wall behind me. "Scouring charm."
"You may have to tutor me in charms class too!" All went silent again. "Malfoy, let's try to be civil with each other for the time being."

It took me forever to finish cleaning that room. By the time I was done, it was dinner time.
"Lindsey, there you are! What happened?" Sophie called, pulling me to sit next to her.
"I got detention with Malfoy cause of rule 26" I answered, plopping myself down and grabbing some turkey legs.
"26? That means she believes those stupid rumors?!? How unbelievable!!" She shouted.
"Yeah, I had to spend the last 5ish hours with Malfoy!" I sighed. "And get this," I whispered. "He somehow made me laugh!" Sophie looked at me, grinning widely.
"You've got a crush!!" She sang. A slight blush crept up my neck, out of embarrassment.
"Oh shut up" Of course I didn't have a crush, it was Malfoy! We had one civil conversation. Besides are we gonna forget everything that happened last year.
"Oh come on Lin, you read books, for fun, and everyone knows girls who read are hopeless romantics." She said, tossing a fry into her mouth. I glared at her.
"Anyways, how was your day?" I asked, bumping her shoulder.
"Good, I was partnered with this Ravenclaw boy in potions, and get this, I wasn't the last in class! I believe his name was Oliver Barrows? He was nice... and uh, well Amy came to talk to me... she was telling me that the kiss meant nothing... but I told her we couldn't continue our friendship right now..." I looked toward her and hugged her.
"I'm sorry Soph."
