My eyes fluttered open to the sound of Sophie's voice. "Good morning, I brought your flowers some water, and I brought you this afternoon's homework!" She exclaimed.
"How long was I out?" I asked. She jumped at the question.
"Oh, you're awake... Oh! You're awake! Welcome back!" Sophie cheered. "You were out for a week about!" She said. I blinked, a week? I didn't think anyone could sleep that long! I sat up, I was still in my robes and desperately needed a shower.
"What time is it?" I asked, "What's the date?" I was so out of it.
"It's currently February 16, 3:47 pm!" Sophie told me.
"oh no! Sophie, I didn't get you a birthday gift! I was gonna get it for you last week! Aw no I'm so sorry Soph!" I wailed.
Sophie smiled softly at me, "Don't worry! Really! We can just have a girl's night you and I!" She laughed.
"You sure?" I looked at her, guiltily.
"Positive" she reassured me. I smiled and got out of bed. "Woah! Hold your horses! Madam Pomfrey says you need rest!"
"I did get rest! A whole week's worth!" I said, stretching. "Now I gotta take a shower, and then I'm gonna find His Highness to study." I started walking out of the infirmary and towards our common room. As I derobed for my shower I noticed white rubbery marks where I had been splashed with the potion.
It felt good being out and about, and clean, I walked through the halls, the sun was shining bright, and I was feeling energetic and happy! Then it all came crashing down as I made it to dinner because, right there, in the middle of the room, was a small kid, no older than the second year, being pushed by Draco himself. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I knew it was no good. On the boy's hand, there was a bright red marking, a scar. I couldn't read it but that didn't matter, I stormed up to Draco, not caring that his 'friends' were there, and grabbed him by his arm, angrily pulling him away.
"Ow! What in Merlin's name are you doing!" He shouted.
"What were YOU doing!? Tormenting that poor kid!" I spun around yelling at him.
"He had information on the DA!" He said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"I don't care if he had information on Him Who Must Not Be Named!" I shouted. "He is just a child! And frankly so are you!" I scoffed, rolling my eyes. Why was I making such a big deal out of this? It's only Malfoy. But then when did I start calling him Malfoy?
"Why are you being so dramatic." He commented, making me scoff.
"You know what, you can tutor yourself today." I started walking away.
"I tutor you!" He called after me. I ignored him. Butthead.
As I walked through the halls my anger became deeper as I created scenarios in my head. Some of them ended in Draco apologizing, others ended with me slapping him. I clenched my fist when I surprisingly ran into Maisy.
"Woah! Geez Lindsey, you scared me! What's wrong with your face? You look angry!" She asked. "You know what they say, anger like coal! So you can tell me." She insisted.
"Anger like coal?" I whispered to myself. What the crap was she talking about? Anger like coal? Anger like coal? Oh! "Do you mean 'Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned?"
"That's the one! Anyway, tell me what's up!" She again insisted.
"Look no offense intended, but I don't really count you as a friend of mine..." I told her, it was surely rude, but I didn't know how else to put it. "I mean we don't even know each other."
"Oh" She stopped and thought for a moment. "Well that's ok! You don't need to tell me, I just thought it might help!" She smiled at me.
I thought for a moment. She did have a point. Anger is never right to hold onto. "All right, I- got into an argument with Draco," I told her.
"Oh um. That's understandable. What was the argument about?" She asked.
"Well it started in the great hall. There was this kid, maybe about the second year, he looked scared. Draco was shoving him. It made me so- infuriated!" I told her. "And he dared to call me dramatic!" I could feel tears prick in my eyes, but I bit the inside of my lip to push them down.
Maisy sat there and thought for a while. "Well... I'm no therapist friend, but my mum always told me to write about my feelings, then analyze them. It helped me, maybe it could help you?" She shrugged. "That's all I got."
I stood there for a while, fighting my stubbornness off. Finally, I decided to head to my room.
