63.  Forefront

Tian POV

Standing there across from us was Derek with a odd look on his face. His fists were clenched at his side while his jaw was clenched. His reaction was very odd one, not because they weren't mates anymore but he was mated and his smell was very strong. Glancing at Rose I knew she knew this too yet her face seemed frozen in place. The look in her eye was empty with no emotion.

"Hey Derek" she said after a blink.

"I see my news won't be heartbreaking since you have been busy as well" he said in a low growl.

Rose didn't even flinch at his aggression, instead she glanced at me and smiled. She looked happy and I wasn't exactly sure what changed.

"Derek I don't appreciate you being rude when you have no right. You have a mate and it didn't take long I assume" she said when she turned back to him.

Seeing her stance I knew she felt something but I wasn't sure what exactly because I couldn't see her face. Derek didn't seem happy and before we both knew it he walked away. Walking up to her  I noticed her hand clenched and I was sure it was anger.

"He won't let this go.  He won't believe that I care for him, but it doesn't matter now" she whispered.

"Don't let him get to you" I whispered to her.

"Let's go inside"she said quickly and walked towards the pack house.

When we entered Jason was the only one around. He didn't waste a moment before heading straight to Rose. I began thinking over Rose and what happened outside. For once I was completely baffled by her actions. While Rose talked with Jason outside I thought of everything running through my mind. I didn't even notice they stopped talking until Rose was pulling on my hand to go inside.

"Hey can I talk with you for a bit?"Jason asked. 

I glanced at Rose and saw her give me a slight dazed smile before walking away. I let my eyes linger on her until she disappeared from my sight.

"Are you with her?"Jason asked while we stood in the living room.

I thought about his question without knowing how to answer. Looking across from me at the window I thought over the last days at the castle. I didn't know what was going on in the pretty little head of my Rose.

"I'm not sure. I think she's exploring the idea of us " I said pondering over it.

She was surprising me lately and I wasn't sure if she even knew what exactly she was doing when it came to me. Her eyes held so much curiosity when she looked at me lately. I wasn't sure what to make fully of it other than I knew she wanted to explore it.

"She's different in a way. Something has changed inside her, I'm not sure what to think of it honestly " Jason said looking at me expectantly.

I thought over that and I knew she was different. She wasn't exactly the same but with everything that kept coming her way it was expected. She went through so much heartbreak already and I knew she didn't have much left to push her over the edge. Sighing I looked at Jason, just looking at him I knew that he knew this was coming too. There wasn't a way to avoid her hurt because that was part of life - part of living.
