Starting All over

Chris POV

I watched her from the window, the look on her face was so heartbreaking. All of this was hurting her because I was her mate. Pain wasn't something that I didn't want her to feel but I knew if I stayed any longer,I would end up losing it. Just seeing her so entrapped by Derek breaks my heart. I wanted to be the one that she smiled for and she was in love so blindly. All this time since I came back I have tried so hard for it to not let it hurt me or even bother me much. However, you can only handle so much in seeing someone you love in the hands of another. Love is a complicated thing, a enigma in many ways. There are times where you follow love so blindly that every imperfection that your love has is perfection. Those flaws others might see become aspects on how different and amazing they are to you. To me her only flaw was her caring side. I knew that side of her brought fourth so much hurt to her, it was always something I wanted to protect her from.

But as the car pulled away I realized maybe she did love me. But it wasn't the love I so desperately craved. I was just Chris, her protector. Letting out a sigh, I walked over and picked up my suitcase. Leaving would force me to see she didn't need me at all. I walked out my room and took my car keys when Saxon walked in.

"This is the worst mistake you can make Chris. You will cause her hurt that she doesn't need " Saxon lectured.

"She will be fine. Derek is with her. The mate she picked, besides I think leaving will help " I said.

"That is crap and you know it. You three are idiots. Derek believes she picked him too. But she didn't, Justin just decided to keep his distance that allowed Derek to make her fall in love. That hardly is her choosing. Now you are following Justin's same foot steps by leaving " Saxon said then turned to leave.

Saxon was just adding things to my mind. I started to second doubt myself. But I wasn't like Justin because I told her the truth. She loves Derek and I would be blind not to see that. I didn't want to ruin her happy relationship. Derek made her happy and that is all that mattered to me. But the longer I spent with her the more I wanted to make her mine. This was for the better. Saxon stopped at the door.

"I'm not going back to the castle " he said.

"Your my second in command " I said grounding my teeth.

"But she's my queen. Not only because she's your mate but also because her sedux owns my vampire. My loyalty is now to her " Saxon said.

"I don't like the way you look at her. She isn't yours to protect, that's her mates job and mine. Not yours " I hissed.

"I know you don't want to leave her man. This is hard for you, but I can assure you it's better for me to stay here and protect. You might be use to the idea of your mate gone but she doesn't " Saxon said.

I clenched my jaw because it was true. Leaving was hard but I knew I could handle the pain. I spent years with this pain. She however, never felt this pain. I still remember the day I left her and ran away from her.

**Flashback**

I was standing outside her house wondering what I was going to tell her. I couldn't just drop the bomb about me leaving. The heartbreak and tears in her eyes would be too much. Leaving wasn't what I wanted to do, but my mother figured out I was the mate of her. Mother feared I would kill my little Jet. But I knew I couldn't, she was everything to me. Since the moment I met her, it angered me to see her anything but happy and a smile. Making her smile and laugh was my happiness. No other girl would laugh so beautifully or have stunning and so full of life eyes. Entrapped by her beauty was easy and becoming protective was like breathing air, unavoidable. Stepping out of her backhouse door with her flowing red dress and her brown hair in a fishtail to the side made me shudder. She looked cute and so innocent, her eyes became playful when he saw me. Without a second thought she ran towards me, her predator friend. I gave her hug and she giggled.
