Chapter 47

Addy's POV

One week later

It's the last week of school for us eighth graders. We don't have any more classes, yay! Instead we're getting ready for our graduation that's coming up in a couple days. Things have been okay since the little vacation at the beach. Omar and I haven't really been talking, but that's understandable seeing that some unexpected things happened... Anyway all the eighth graders are in the large gym right now sitting and going over the things we'll be doing during the actual graduation ceremony.

Once we were done rehearsing we went back to our home rooms and waited for lunch. I was talking to Cam and Ciara about the school year coming to an end.

"This year went by so fast. I can't believe we'll be graduating in two days!" I exclaim.

"I know, it feels like it was just yesterday that we were waiting outside the doors waiting for the new school year to begin. After this we'll be moving to the high schools and this time we don't have to worry about moving schools for a while," Ciara jokes.

Cam laughs and nods his head in agreement. I give them a confused look.

"Ever since pre-school people have been moving school to school. Some elementary schools didn't have pre-k so they'd have to go to one that did and then after those two years they'd go back to the elementary school they were assigned to. After fourth grade all the students would move to Finderson, the school that's pretty much across the street from our school for fifth and sixth grade. Then of course after those two years we all come here to Willow Creek for our final middle school years then go to high school," Cam explained. I nodded understanding how many students had to keep moving school to school in this district.

"That must be tiring," I say.

"It is, but it's worth it because we get to meet more people, which means more friends," Ciara replied with a smile.

The bells rang signaling that the period was over and that lunch was next for my team. We all got up and quickly got out of the classroom. Some people went directly to the lunchroom while others stopped by their lockers to drop some things off or to get their lunch (like me!). I sat in my usual seat in between Ciara and Yolo. Cam sits across from me with Brandy on his left and our friend Osman on his right. Omar sits with his soccer friends at a table far away.

"Do you guys want to go into town today?" Maddie asked.

"Sure," Cam, Yolo, Brandy, Osman, and I said. We then looked at Ciara who was drinking her water.

"Ciara?"

"I don't know, I have to go to the dance studio to help the little kids classes." she admits.

"Come on Ciara, you have to go! Besides I'm also helping out tonight and I'm going down town."

"Please, we won't be there for a long time and you can always leave early so you can make it to the class in time," Maddie says, trying to get Ciara to come.

"I guess I can go for a couple hours."

"Yay!"

The rest of the day went by fast. We went to the large gym to practice again and then got dismissed.

We walked down town and went to the dollar store. We bought a bunch of candy and some drinks and then started walking around laughing, talking, and just being our weird selves.

"What are you guys going to be doing this summer?" Ciara asked.

"I'm not sure. I think I might be just staying at home," I said thinking about if I really was going anywhere.

"My mom's planning out a trip, but she's keeping the place where a secret," Cam said not really caring if he was going anywhere.

"I have no idea," Maddie said in a don't-ask-me-again tone.

"I'm going to have a vacation on an island called 'my couch' and stay in a hotel that's very comfortable and warm called 'pillow and a blanket' and go sight seeing in a beautiful place called 'Netflix'" Osman makes all of laugh while we just got to Tastee Freeze. After we all get what we want Ciara says she has to go and we all say our goodbyes.

 ~.~ When I got home my mom was in the living room filling out some papers. She looked up and smiled at me.

"Hey sweetie, how was your day?" She greeted me with a small hug.

"Good, we just spent some time together around town. It was really fun."

"That's nice honey. I'm glad your having a good time with your friends. Well I'm gonna finish these papers and leave you to getting ready for your dance class. We'll leave in about twenty minutes.

"Okay," I kiss my mom on the cheek and walk up the stairs to my room.

Once I get to my room I change into my dance wear and put on some denim shorts and a pink top that said 'Meet me @ the corner of You Wish and Never'. My hair was too short to put in a pony tail so I just left it how it was. I looked at the clock and saw that I still had fifteen minutes left until we left so I laid on my bed going through my photos in my phone until I got a text from Ciara.

Ciara✌🏼️- Hey, you want a ride?

Me - nah, it's fine. my mom's taking me today

Ciara ✌🏼️- m'kay

Me- Kay, so today we'll just be helping out the younger classes right?

Ciara ✌🏼️- yeah. I'm excited because the little girls are just soo cute when they're dancing!!

Me- lol yeah, they are adorable

"Addy! It's time to go now!" My mom shouted from downstairs.

"Coming!"

Me- I gtg, see ya there! 👋🏼

I got home at nine and took shower then changed into some comfy shorts and an old dance recital shirt.

The little girls were so cute during their dance and they were getting even better at listening. The spring/summer dance recital was coming up and the theme was two reused themes from the past years which is "all around the world" and "gold" so we'll be dancing to a bunch of songs from different countries. We'll also be dancing to songs that were big from different years, centuries, you get the point.

My group will be doing two jazz and tap routines and then one ballet. Well enough about dance. It was about nine -thirty when I finally finished getting ready for bed and I was ready to go to sleep. I plugged in my phone by my night stand and went to bed thinking about how in just two days we'll be graduating from middle school and go to high school the next year.
