Chapter 36

Maddie's pov

Right now we're in home room just talking about the usual stuff until our teacher walked in with an unusual smile on her face. She walked to her desk and clapped her hands which caught the attention of everyone in the room, making them face forward.

" Good Morning everyone!" She greeted the class.

" Good Morning," we all mumble back.

" Now class I want you to meet our new student !" Right after she said that a tall figure stood in front of the room. It was him. Uh oh.....

"This is Calvin and he'll be with us for the rest of the year," she explained.

The teacher explained some more things to him while the rest of us continued what we were doing. Ciara was very quiet. She hasn't said a word since he came in the room. Just then we heard Ms.Garner tell Calvin where he would sit.

" Let's see where your seat will be," she scanned around the room until she spotted an empty desk which was of course behind Ciara. " Ah, Ciara please raise your hand," she did as she was told and the teacher said, " Please have a seat behind Ms.Ciara."

He strolled over to our row and took a seat behind her. Well this couldn't of gotten any more awkward. Ciara was quiet for the rest of the time. She wouldn't look back or move one bit. It was like if she moved just a tiny bit then the whole world would fall into pieces. Cam was talking to Calvin explaining to him all of his classes until he stopped talking and tapped Cara in the shoulder.

" Ciara?" He whispered afraid that if he'd speak any louder then she'd flip out. She sighed and turned only facing Cam.
"Yes Cameron?"
" Well I just wanted to tell you that you and Calvin have all the same classes together except for PE and encore so I was wondering if you could help him around the school," he said.
" Oh..... uhh," she thought about it for a minute and sighed in frustration, "Sure why not."

Right then the bell rang signaling the beginning of the school day. We all got up and headed to our first period class which luckily all of us had together, which was English. Cam and I went to our table while Ciara and Calvin went up to the teacher. Calvin just stood there silently while Ciara was talking to the teacher. The teacher nodded his head, greeted Calvin, and told him to sit with us. They walked back together taking a seat.

After a couple minutes Addy and Omar walked in with Yolo following behind them, all of them were smiling. When Yolo saw Calvin her smile dropped instantly. Of course Addy and Omar didn't know anything (yet) about Calvin and his past with us. When they got to the table Yolo sat between Calvin and Ciara. Cara gave her a you-are-my-hero look while Addy and Omar took there normal seats across from Cam and I. We sat in silence until Addy broke it.

" Hi I'm Addy," she introduced herself sticking her hand out to him. He smiled at her and shakes her hand.

" Calvin," he introduced himself. Addy then elbowed Omar to make him say his name.

" Hey, I'm Omar, Addy's boyfriend," he said coldly, emphasizing the word boyfriend.

Right after he said that the bell rang and class started. It was pretty boring but I couldn't help but notice Calvin glancing at Ciara with regret in his eyes. Oh I hope that everything will be okay today and that they could become good friends again.

" Okay class we will be starting a big project this week and it is due in two weeks. You will be working with your table about a book that tells us an important message. You will have to make a 5-10 minute play about it and why the message is important," the bell rang and he dismissed us. I walk into my next class which is literature with Cam and Yolo while Addy, Omar, Ciara, and Calvin go to math. I hope everything goes well.

Addy's pov

Something isn't right. Ciara is never this quiet and she seems out of it to. She's not being her normal self and Omar is being very protective over me. Calvin is a nice person I guess but the seems kind of..... Sad.

I headed to the back of the room where my seat is and sat down. Ciara went up to inform Ms.Steffens about the new student. Omar was on the other side of the room reading a book. I then felt someone poking my left shoulder so I turned around to face Brandy.

" Why is Ciara with Calvin? I haven't seen them by each other since 4th grade."

" What do you mean? They've known each other for a while now?" I asked surprised.

" You mean you don't know?" He asked with wide eyes, not answering my question.

" No, but tell me please!" I exclaim.

" I-I can't I'm sorry" he says sympathetically.

Just then Ciara walks on my other side and sits down. Calvin went to the desk behind Omar.

" What was that about?" Ciara asked.

" I'll tell you later," I reply turning my head toward the white board for the class has just begun.
