Alexander slowly made his way to the debate room. The cold, crisp, winter air nipped his face softly.

He wrapped it in John's jacket, it was soft and cozy, and it smelled just like John's. Alexander saw bits of the freckled man's hair on the jacket, not that he didn't mind.

Alexander trudged through the cold winter air, his breath forming puffs of mist in the air.

The lack of snow in their region was no match for the biting cold that seeped through his jacket and chilled him to the bone.

As he made his way toward the debate room, he couldn't help but notice the warm glow of the streetlights, casting shadows across the snowless ground.

It was a beautiful sight, but he couldn't bring himself to appreciate it fully. Instead, he was lost in thought, his mind consumed by his own regrets and worries.

Wrapped in John's jacket, Alexander felt a sense of comfort and familiarity. The jacket was soft and cozy, and it smelled just like John.

Alexander's hands were buried deep inside the pockets, his fingers brushing against the various items John had left inside.

He must've forgotten to take them out the last time he wore the jacket. A hair tie, well, a few dozen hair ties, and a Polaroid photo of him, Thomas, and James.

The photo was taken at what seems a coming-out party that Thomas had organized for himself and his friends.

In the photo, John, Thomas, and James were posing with their arms around each other's shoulders, their faces beaming with joy.

The backdrop was a colorful and vibrant banner that read "We're Out and Proud!", which they had put up to signify their identities and create a safe space for themselves.

Each of them was wearing a rainbow-colored accessory or clothing item, knowing those three, they probably all came out to each other on the same day by accident.

Alexander realized that the photo was taken when they were all 15 years old, and now they were 21-year-old college students.

The party had been a celebration of their identities and an occasion for them to express themselves without fear of judgment.

And the photo captured that happy moment in time perfectly. As Alexander looked at the photo again, he couldn't help but frown a bit.

He, Thomas, and James just had a big argument and it was his fault. And looking back on these memories just, made him feel like a bad person.

Invading others' lives when they didn't need him. As Alexander continued to stare at the photo, he couldn't help but feel a deep sense of sadness and regret.

He had been struggling with stress and overworking himself, wondering if they even still cared about him after their argument.

He felt like he had let them down and worried that they hated him for what he had said. He wished he could go back in time and erase his hurtful words, but he knew that wasn't possible.

His heart sank as he looked at the happy faces in the photo, realizing that he felt like an outsider.

But he had worked so hard to get off of the small island in Nevils.

So hard he fought, just for all of it to go to waste?

All for this same empty feeling of not belonging anywhere?
