"Emily!" You called out into the empty Dickinson house, nobody was home, you figured that Emily would be but when you received no response to your call, you knew she wasn't.
You slowly wandered upstairs to her bedroom, hoping to wait for her. As you sat on her bed, you'd eyes scanned the room; it was cozy, somewhat small. You really liked it.
Your eyes caught sight of the loose stacks of papers on Emily's desk. Hesitantly, you stood, walking over as you began to read what was nicely and neatly written on the papers.
THE MOON.
THE moon was but a chin of gold A night or two ago And now she turns her perfect face Upon the world below.
Her forehead is of amplest blond; Her cheek like beryl stone; Her eye unto the summer drew The likest I have known.
Her lips of amber never part; But what must be the smile Upon her friend she could bestow Were such a silver will!
And what a privilege to be But the remotest star! For certainly her way might pass Beside your twinkling door.
You smiled as your thumb ran over the ink, you neatly folded it back up, setting it back down on the desk. Your curiosity got the better of you, as you were already reaching for another one to read.
I shall think of you at sunset, and at sunrise, again; and at noon, forenoon, and afternoon, and always, and evermore, till this little heart stops beating and is still.
To Y/N Y/L/N
Suddenly you heard footsteps approaching the door, your turned around, seeing Emily walking in. "Oh, Y/N, I didn't expect to see you." You froze with the paper still in your hand. She glanced at it and you. "Were you reading my poems?" She asked, a little nervously.
"Yes." You confessed softly, setting the paper down as you slowly walked towards her. "They are amazing, Emily."
The Dickinson girl looked at you in shock as you put your hands on her cheeks, pulling her down slightly for a kiss. Her lips made contact with yours and she felt her whole world brightening at the feeling.
"Does that mean you like them?" Emily whispered, pulling away slightly to rest your foreheads together.
"I love them." You emphasized and pecked her lips quickly, both of you reopening your eyes to look at one another.
"You are my inspiration, my muse, my dear." Emily cooed and took you in her arms, smiling fondly down at you. "You always have been."
