3rd Person POV:

Nadine walked into Mr. Bruner's room, rushing in as she sat down. "Look, I don't want to take too much of your time but... I'm going to kill myself." She said as Mr. Bruner slowly lowered his book.

"That's dark." An unknown voice called out from behind Nadine. She turned around to see a girl wearing ripped jeans with a flannel and a guitar case next to her. Black headphones hung around her neck with rings on her fingers. "Although I would've said the same." The girl smirked, Nadine admiring the way her Y/E/C eyes sparkled in the sun.

"I'm sorry, who are you?" The girl went to speak but Mr. Bruner got to it first.

"Nadine, this is my daughter, Y/N, Y/N this is my student, Nadine."

"Nice to meet you, troublemaker." Y/N smirked, shaking Nadine's hand, who happened to be very confused.

"You have a daughter?" She turned towards her teacher.

"Yep." He sighed, leaning back and straying to read his book again as Y/N turned towards Nadine.

"He's always grumpy. In the mornings, I mean." She shook her head with a chuckle, patting the taller girls shoulder softly. "So... why do you want to kill yourself?"

"So your dad died years ago? Is that why you're depressed or..?" Y/N asked as she and Nadine sat outside the store on the curb, enjoying an ice cream cone each. Nadine nodded her head with a sad sigh.

"I don't know, there's other reasons but that just might be the main one." The brunette shrugged as Y/N nodded, listening to every word.

"Your brother is dating your ex-best friend?"

"Yep." Nadine strained, staring hard at the ground. "Shocking, I know."

"I have an idea." Y/N said after a moment, smiling, as she tossed the last of her cone in the trash, grabbing her skateboard and Nadine's hand, dragging her up. Nadine went wide eyed as she followed nonetheless.

"Where are we going?!" She almost yelled over the loud traffic of the cars in the road, them passing through to get to the other side.

"Just follow me." The Y/H/C girl laughed, leading Nadine to a small basketball court nearby in an empty park. She opened the gate, setting her board down and pushing off as she skated around in circles. Nadine closed the gate behind her, turning to see her new friend skating.

"Watch this." Y/N called out as she looked up at the net, jumping up off her board and hanging on the hoop. "Shit." She laughed when she lost her grip, landing on her feet and dusting her hands off. "Wanna try?"

"Hell no, are you fucking kidding me? I can't do that." Nadine denied, shaking her head vigorously as she went wide eyed in shock and amazement.

"Fine by me." Y/N ran over to Nadine, taking her hand and leading her to the rack of basketballs in the corner. "Take your shot." She tossed her a ball, Nadine fumbling with it before getting a better grip on it. She slowly and hesitantly moved to stand on the white line of the court, the sun barley blocking her view as she retracted her arm back and threw it. It hit the backboard and almost hit Y/N in the face if she didn't catch it in time. "Nice try, you just need better form. Let me show you."

Y/N walked over to Nadine after getting the ball back, setting it in the hazel eyed girls hands. Nadine held onto it as Y/N instructed her. "Hold it like this." She adjusted her hands as she formed a fist with her hand, carefully pushing Nadine's leg back. "You're gonna want to push off on this leg, jump up and shoot. Make sure to bend your wrists to you get a better angle." Nadine took in her advice, ignoring the feeling in her stomach when Y/N touched her leg and hands, she fixed her form and shot the ball, this time it went in.

"I did it! I made a basket!" Nadine high fived Y/N who was smiling widely back at the excitement in Nadine's voice. "Thanks." Nadine chuckled, putting her hands on her hips.

"You did that all on your own." Y/N chuckled as Nadine watched her take the basketball and start dribbling it, shooting some baskets while she leaned against the fence. There was something about the Bruner girl that she couldn't put her finger on but she liked her. Really liked her.
