"I have thought for some time now about what you children would do once you completed the task, as well as how I'd reward you. And here is what I have decided." Zeus paused. The five Demigods stood there, confused, wondering what he could possibly have to reward them for saving their lives.
"You may remain in contact with your parents. You will start your duties as Gods and Goddesses and soon after we will hold a ceremony for you each. A ceremony where the Fates will reveal to you your true purpose as well as your new powers." Zeus stated, bringing his hands behind his back as he paced back and forth.
"How come you didn't allow them to see us before?" Amara finally asked.
"Because they all have their duties. That does not entail parenting in the mortal realm." Zeus said.
"Do you realize the depth of what you've done, Zeus? You do not know of the pain you've caused them." Noelle spoke with a low tone.
"I needed you, badly. But, you weren't there." Donovan said, turning to his mother, Demeter.
"You never were." Donovan continued. A sad expression was written all over his face. Though Demeter did not care much for her child, the sight saddened her. She brought her hand up to caress the cheek of Donovan, but he quickly moved away, rejecting her comfort and affection.
"You mortals, so.." Zeus said, trying to find the right word. He waved his hand around as if doing so would make the word come to him.
"Emotional. One would think the pain would've made each of you stronger. But, here you all stand before me. Weak. I wonder how you came from your parents. Well, not you, my son. You seem to be the only strong one here." Zeus said, turning to Zander. Zander said nothing, he stood in silence with his head down.
"Then, you do not know what strength looks like." Noelle said, keeping her low tone. She knew Zander felt the pain the others did. It was impossible not to feel that sort of pain.
"And you do?" Zeus challenged.
"Yes. Each of us is strong. Our strength is what kept us alive all of these years. It's what kept us going. Not the hope that one day we'd finally meet our parents." Noelle said, turning to Athena and Demeter.
"Shame on you. And shame on you Zeus." Noelle continued, turning to face Zeus as she was before.
"Shame on you three for making your children feel not worthy of your love, and shame on you for never caring about them." Noelle said. Athena and Demeter stood there in shock, not believing the audacity of this girl. Zeus rubbed his temple as thunder rumbled from outside of Mount Olympus.
"You give your opinion very freely, girl." Zeus growled.
"And what of it?" Noelle asked boldly. Zeus' eyes darkened. She reminded him of Poseidon, never afraid to say what he truly thought. It infuriated him. Noelle figured he wouldn't answer, so she gave Zeus one last dirty look, turned on her heel, and began to exit the throne room, but Zeus' voice stopped her.
"Turn down my offer now, and it'll never appear again. You will no longer be welcome here in Olympus." Zeus stated. Hestia panicked, realizing her time in the mortal realm was up, and she could no longer return there. She'd have no way of seeing the niece she loved like a daughter.
"Wait a minute, Zeus. Calm down." Hestia said, but Zeus ignored her.
"You will no longer be considered the daughter of Poseidon." Zeus declared. Noelle scoffed, turning to face him. She held her hand out, making Poseidon's Trident come to her. She caught it and stared Zeus down.
"I am and always will be the daughter of Poseidon. You cannot change that. The Fates made it so. " Noelle said.
"And you know that only a child of Poseidon, or he himself can hold this Trident. If this," Noelle said, holding up the Trident in the air for him to see, "Is not clear enough for you." Noelle paused to conjure up water from the floor and spray Zeus in the face with it, the act making a scowl appear on his face.
