Amara watched as Heath walked away with Noelle; hand in hand. Once they rounded the corner, Amara rushed to the boy's room and began banging on the door with both fists, her head turned to where the two had walked away to see if they'd walk back to see what the banging noise was. Zander got up from his bed and groaned, heading to the door. He wanted to sleep. He was exhausted. And he knew Donovan was too deep into his book to get up and answer the door. He opened it whilst Amara was using her fists to bang on the door. And due to the door no longer being there, it resulted in Amara hitting him multiple times in the chest.
"Ow! 'Mara!" Zander exclaimed. Amara turned to see that someone was now in front of the door. She shoved him back into the room and closed the door.
"What's going on, 'Mara?" Donovan asked, not taking his eyes off of his book.
"Do you guys know who was at the door?" Amara asked. Zander looked to the door, and then looked back over to the bed and realized Heath wasn't there.
"No." Zander said.
"It was Noelle!" Amara said, jumping up and down in excitement.
"And?" Zander asked. Amara stopped jumping and stared at him.
"Heath walked away... with Noelle." Amara said. Donovan had now set down his book, realizing what this meant. Though he and Noelle didn't get along well, he was happy to know the two of them were getting close. He was especially happy for his great friend, Heath.
"What are you getting at, Amara?" Zander said, sighing afterward.
"They're alone together!" Donovan blurted out from across the room. Zander stood there with a confused look on his face. Then, realization hit him. His jaw dropped open and his eyes widened. He walked over to Amara and took her hands in his. He began jumping up and down with Amara. Donovan watched, laughing at the two of them. Zander stopped jumping, keeping his hands in Amaras'.
"You two realize how that sounds right?" Zander asked, giving away that he thought much of what Donovan said. Donovan groaned and Amara backed away from Zander, feeling uncomfortable. She walked over to the left side of Zander's bed and sat there, feeling content with the distance between her and Zander.
"Only your mind would go there, Zander. Only yours." Donovan said, shaking his head like a disappointed parent.
"It's crazy to think that something like this would bring them together." Amara said in disbelief. Donovan and Zander knew what she meant. They knew she meant getting together to save Olympus. Surely, none of them had thought it'd happen this way.
"What's crazy is that they've already found their soulmate so early in life." Zander said, having full faith in Heath and Noelles' relationship.
"Have you guys ever wondered who your someone would be?" Zander asked, lying down on the right side of his bed beside Amara. He then put his arms behind his bed to keep his head slightly elevated so that if he were to run to look at Donovan or Amara, he'd be able to see them.
"No, I don't think I'll have someone." Amara admitted. Zander turned to face her.
"What? Really?" Zander asked. Amara nodded in response.
"Weird." Zander responded.
"No, Zander. Not weird. Hestia and Artemis never had someone. I'll be like them." Amara declared. Zander still found it to be weird but said nothing more.
"I have." Donovan answered, setting his book down.
"Oh yeah? What's she like?" Amara asked. Donovan moved further down the bed and readied himself for what he had to say.
"He is gentle and kind. He's not afraid to be vulnerable. He's the man you see in your dreams, almost too good to be true. Too beautiful of a human to be real." Donovan said, lost in thought thinking of his dream man.
"He?" Zander asked.
"He." Donovan nodded. Amara smiled and ran over to Donovan, sitting beside him on his bed. She tackled him in a hug and squealed.
"Thank you for sharing this with us!" Amara exclaimed.
"Alright, let me get in some of that!" Zander exclaimed, walking over to Donovan's bed and wrapping his arms around him. Donovan laughed, feeling loved by his friends. Once they all pulled away from each other, Amara took Donovans' hands in her own.
"You are a beautiful human, Donovan. I hope you find yourself a man just as beautiful as you are." Amara said.
"And I hope he's hotter than Aphrodite and hotter than Hades hellfire." Zander said, patting Donovan on the back.
"Aphrodite is your sister." Donovan reminded him. Zander groaned, thinking back to when Noelle told him the same thing.
"What about you, Zander? What's your dream partner like?" Amara asked, making sure not to assume this time.
"Well, it was Aphrodite. Now, I don't know who. My type is.." Zander said but stopped realizing he didn't know what his type really was.
"Someone out of your league. Like Aphrodite." Donovan teased. Zander snapped his fingers and pointed at Donovan.
"Yep, that's it." Zander said, walking over to his bed. Amara laughed at their banter. Donovan stared down at the bed, in total silence. Amara could see his face. She couldn't quite put her finger on what the look was, but it seemed like something was bothering him.
"What are you thinking about?" Amara asked. Donovan looked up at her, dodging her eyes.
"Oh, nothing really." Donovan lied. Amara knew. She noticed that he dodged her eyes and wouldn't look into them. She scoffed and put her index finger underneath his chin, lifting it up to get a better look at him and looking into his light green eyes.
"What is it?" Amara repeated, hoping this time he'd tell her the truth.
"I feel bad." Donovan finally admitted.
"Feel bad about what?" Zander asked, inserting himself into the conversation.
"I treated Noelle badly the other day when I yelled at her for what happened with Cronus. I also hurt her." Donovan said.
"Oh, Donovan. I saw her wrist earlier, you can barely see the bruise anymore. She's alright." Amara tried to reassure him.
"Still, 'Mara. I was rude. I shouldn't have yelled at her." Donovan said, putting his head in between his knees.
"Man, Noelle's got tough skin. I don't think you got to her that badly." Zander said, patting Donovan on the back.
"I will say, Donovan, what you said about her being the daughter of Poseidon and how she should've been able to hold the water, was wrong." Amara said. Zander hadn't thought of that. After reminding himself of what happened, he did come to realize what Donovan said was cruel. He couldn't help but think if anybody had said something like that to him, he might burn holes into them.
"None of us have been put in this position before. Sure, Hestia trained us. But, until now, we've never had a real threat. H-" Amara said, but Zander stopped her.
"Oh, I'd take that back. Hestia is a real threat." Zander said.
"That isn't what I meant." Amara exclaimed, hitting him in the shoulder. Zander winced and brought his hand up to his shoulder.
"Man, what's with everybody being violent with me today?" Zander asked no one specific.
"Hestia only fought with us so we'd be able to put our power to its full potential. She never tried to cause us any harm, unlike Cronus. So, the situation is a bit different, Donovan." Amara said.
"You should apologize to her when she gets back." Amara said, leaning back into Donovan's pillow.
"I know you're right. You're always right, 'Mara." Donovan said, patting Amara on the knee. Amara gave him a small smile as Donovan went back to his book. The group sat in silence for a moment, before they all realized how much time had passed since Noelle and Heath left. They all looked up to each other and Zander was the first to say,
"Why aren't Heath and Noelle back yet?"
