With that, Hermes quickly took hold of Noelle and Zander and flew them out of the palace. He landed them safely on the ground in between the gate to the staircase of Olympus and the River Styx.
"You can open your eyes now." Hermes said. Zander slowly opened his eyes to see that the two were now outside of Olympus. Noelle opened her eyes to be greeted by the blood-orange sky of the Underworld.
"Listen, I have to go back in to try and help them out. It's only Heath and Donovan who are able to fight in there." Hermes said, making an attempt to fly away, but a hand on his shoulder stopped him.
"Well, wait a second! If only the two are able to fight, then shouldn't we be in there to help?" Noelle questioned.
"No, we can't, Noelle. If we catch a glimpse at Medusa, we'll be turned into stone." Zander explained.
"While the others and I try to help, you two venture to Tartarus and find Amara. And you have to hurr-" Hermes said, but was cut off by Polyphemus when his large hands wrapped around his throat. Polyphemus threw Hermes as far as he could, away from the group.
"Polyphemus, no!" Noelle exclaimed. Polyphemus looked at Noelle with hatred and disgust in his eyes. Noelle pushed Zander backward so the two might get away, but stopped once they reached the River Styx.
"Polyphemus, please remember me! Remember us! We aren't your enemies, you're being forced into this. Aphrodite is forcing you!" Noelle pleaded. Aphrodite approached the three, cackling like a mad woman.
"You're a fool for thinking you can get through to him. You see, my hold over him isn't entirely made of my own desire. Deep within Polyphemus, there is a part of him that wants to do this." Aphrodite explained.
"I don't believe that." Noelle said, shaking her head in disbelief.
"Well, believe this, Noella. He holds strong resentment towards your father for treating him like he no longer mattered once he lost his one good eye. And, since I've already put your daddy to sleep along with many of the other Olympians who have the power to stop us, Polyphemus hasn't quite fulfilled his desire to show Poseidon just how angry he is. And I think now would be the perfect opportunity for him to hurt Poseidon just as badly as Poseidon has hurt him." Aphrodite said, glaring at Noelle. Noelle knew what Aphrodite meant. She knew that Polyphemus would hurt Poseidon by hurting her, but she didn't care, not about that. There was however one thing that Aphrodite said that stuck to Noelle.
"How do you know my name?" Noelle asked, angrily.
"Your daddy isn't the only parent of yours in the Underworld." Aphrodite said with a sadistic smile. Noelle made an attempt to lunge at Aphrodite, but Polyphemus wrapped a hand around the throat of Noelle and lifted her up and off of the ground. Zander kicked at the leg of Polyphemus, making him fall backward, letting go of the tight grip he had around Noelle's throat. Noelle leapt for the ground knowing it wasn't safe to be in the River Styx. Zander then summoned his lightning bolt and whipped it Aphrodite's way.
"I heard from Helios that you keep playing with your little toy, Zander." Aphrodite said, gesturing to the lightning bolt.
"Oh, did my little toy make you forget?" Zander said. Zander let go of the lightning rod, making it disappear, and stepped forward. He grabbed ahold of Aphrodite's head and let electricity strike from his fingers, making Aphrodite shake beneath him.
"Remember now?" Zander asked arrogantly, then shoved her back. Zander mustered up electricity into a ball and threw it Aphrodite's way. She quickly dodged it and pulled out a small pen-like device. She pressed the purple button on the side, making the pen enlarge and soon revealing it wasn't a pen at all. It was Hades Bident. Zander instantly remembered it, mostly what it was used for. His face went white.
