Heath wandered through the quiet and dark palace, just waiting for something to happen. He was growing a little anxious considering he hadn't seen his father, Hades since the day before. He also felt worried about the wellbeing of Charon. Nobody had seen him since Noelle and Poseidon's arrival. Hecate sat up in her quarters trying to a way to break the spell placed around the Underworld. Persephone walked around outside, hoping to find Hades. And Noelle had been sleeping for a few hours. Heath thought it'd be best to see how Noelle was doing. When he found her, he realized she was still napping on the couch. He lowered himself on a chair just a few feet from the couch and leaned his head back and decided he'd rest his eyes. He opened them when he heard shuffling beside him. Heath brought his head forward to see Noelle sitting up from her original position on the couch.
"Did I wake you? I apologize. It wasn't my intention." Heath said.
"Oh, no. You didn't. I woke up a few minutes ago. I tried to fall back asleep, but I just couldn't." Noelle said. Neither felt like making conversation, but Noelle wanted to clear the awkwardness in the air.
"I'm a.. I'm a little worried." Noelle admitted. He leaned forward in his chair and sighed.
"If there were something I could do to ease your worries, I'd do it. Just name it, Noelle." Heath said. Noelle brought her hands up to her lap and began tearing away at her nails.
"I never properly met your dog. Or.. dogs." Noelle said, turning to Heath. After a moment, Heath sat up from his chair and took one of his gloves off before holding it out towards Noelle. She placed her warm hand in his cold one and stood up from the couch. Heath noticed her nails and entwined their fingers before placing both of their hands in the pocket of his robe. The two then walked to the lower half of the palace, just below the first floor, and to the floor, Cerberus chose to spend his time. Cerberus could hear the two coming and slowly sat up from his bed and waited by the entrance. As Noelle and Heath walked down the stairs, Cerberus watched the two. They eventually approached Cerberus and kept a few feet between themselves and him.
"Cerebrus, come say hi." Heath said as he patted his hand on his thigh, calling Cerebrus to him. Cerberus stood up and slowly walked over to the two. He brushed one of his heads against the material of Noelle's dress.
"I thought he'd be larger." Noelle said quietly, making Heath smile only a little.
"He can be. He's just not in that form currently." Heath said. Cerberus continued to rub his head against Noelle, causing her to kneel on the floor in front of him and begin petting him.
"He's wonderful." Noelle said in a soft voice, smiling at Cerebrus.
"You're one of very few who think so." Heath said as he leaned down to scratch behind one of Cerberus' ears. Cerberus leaned forward and licked the cheek of Noelle, making her laugh. She placed a kiss on each forehead of Cerberus before standing up. Noelle and Heath then walked back up the steps to the third floor of the palace, which was considered Heath's quarters. It was then Heath remembered that Noelle hadn't eaten anything since her arrival.
"Oh, gosh! I tried sending someone to Earth to get you some food but completely forgot nobody can leave!" Heath said, running his fingers through his hair, pulling on a few strands. Noelle watched his expression go from calm to stressed. She quickly took his hand away from his hair to keep him from pulling any hair out and held it in her hands.
"They're probably unconscious by the barrier!" Heath groaned.
"Hey, I heard Persephone outside earlier before I fell asleep, she'll probably find them and tend to them." Noelle said.
"That was hours ago, Noelle. How do we know she's still out there?" Heath asked, frustratedly.
"We don't, but think of that if it eases your mind." Noelle said. Heath sighed, calming himself only a little.
