"Can we please turn on the radio, Noelle? I am so bored back here. I just want to hear some music." Zander complained from the backseat.
"Yeah, the car ride has been silent for hours. You won't even allow us to talk." Amara whined.
"I am in no way keeping you from talking." Noelle said.
"So we can talk?" Amara asked. Noelle stayed quiet for a moment.
"No." Noelle answered, causing Amara to groan.
"I am not keeping you from talking. You have the ability to do so. So, I am not keeping you from it. I just don't want to hear it." Noelle explained. Heath chuckled from beside her. Noelle snapped her head in his direction, not expecting to hear him laugh. Her cheeks flushed pink as she noticed she had been staring at him for too long, and Donovan noticed this. He looked right at her and smirked. She made a sour face before turning back to her original position and continued staring out the window as she had before.
"Please, Noelle. Can we talk?" Amara asked.
"Not to me." Noelle said.
"Why not? Why do you never want to talk to us?" Amara asked.
"Because, quite frankly, you annoy me." Noelle bluntly said.
"That's not what you said earlier." Heath said, turning to Noelle.
"Eyes on the road, Heath." Noelle said, pointing to the road.
"Oh, so you two were talking earlier, huh?" Zander asked, smirking at both Noelle and Heath, though they hadn't seen his face. Donovan and Amara did, however. They all three smiled at each other in the back seat. Though Heath had never mentioned anything about liking Noelle, they all always had known. Same with Noelle, despite not being around her as much as they had with Heath.
"What were we supposed to do when we were driving to you guys? Just sit in silence?" Heath asked.
"Oh, silence would've been nice." Noelle mumbled.
"You guys ever noticed that the first initial of our names starts with the same letter as our parents?" Zander asked, changing the topic.
"Noelle's doesn't." Heath said.
"Well, of course, you'd point that out." Zander said. Noelle sat there in silence.
"I thought it was like a thing for children of the Gods and Goddesses to have the same first initial." Amara said, looking between Zander and Donovan with a confused look.
"No, it isn't. It could just be us, with the exception of Noelle." Donovan said. Noelle didn't correct him. She didn't feel the need to share that she too shared the same first initial as Poseidon. The name didn't mean much to her anyway. She had always gone by her middle name, Noelle. Even when she was in contact with Poseidon, he never once called her by the birth name he had given her.
"I'm hoping to ask about my name when I meet my mom. My dad never told me the origin of it." Amara said.
"You haven't ever asked her before?" Heath asked.
"No. I've never met her." Amara said.
"Well, of course not. He means have you spoken to her before?" Noelle asked.
"No. Silly, Noelle. They don't use phones in Olympus." Amara said.
Can they not see them like Noelle and I can?
Heath thought to himself. Noelle then turned to him. For a minute, Noelle almost thought she heard Heath saying something.
"You make it sound as if you guys have spoken to your parents. Have you?" Donovan asked. Heath stayed silent. While he didn't want his friends to know, he also didn't feel comfortable lying to them.
