Medusa walked into the throne room with Helios, Polyphemus, and a Golem by her side. Medusa snuck behind Athena, standing awfully close. Medusa's snakes ran through Athena's long hair. They nipped at the skin around her hairline, causing blood to drip down her pale skin. Athena knew she couldn't do anything, not only because the Golem stood feet away, and with just the wave of Medusa's hand she too could be whisked off to wherever Hestia went. But, also because she feared any harm coming to her daughter, though she was a Goddess. Amara shook uncontrollably in her mother's arms.
"Please stop." Amara begged with a quiet voice. Medusa pulled away from Athena and stepped behind Amara.
"One would think the daughter of Athena would fear nothing. But here she is, shaking like a small babe." Medusa snarled.
"Demigods, so pathetic!" Medusa spat as her snakes continued to same treatment but on Amara. Amara whimpered when she felt one snake nip at the thin skin below her brow. She tried to stay brave, but she was slowly falling apart.
"Enough Medusa!" Poseidon shouted. Medusa stopped and slowly turned in Poseidon's direction. Zander stood just a few feet away with his eyes shut. She realized who he was and made her way over, but Poseidon shielded him.
"Get out of the way." Medusa said.
"You stand here so bravely and with full confidence, so tell me, what's stopping me from ripping your head off from the rest of your body?" Poseidon growled, staring Medusa down.
"A powerful spell has been placed on each of us. No God nor Goddess can bring harm to me or any of the others I stand with." Medusa answered.
"And what of the creatures made of mud? I watched one be washed away before my eyes." Poseidon said.
"They unfortunately don't get the same treatment, but no matter. We are not strong because of them. We are strong because we have a powerful leader." Medusa said with a smirk across her face.
"And who might that be?" Athena asked. Medusa turned slightly.
"It's much too early for that to be revealed." Medusa said as she turned her attention back to Poseidon.
"The boy. Give him to me." Medusa said, gritting her teeth.
"What business do you have with him?" Poseidon questioned. Medusa didn't speak, she only kept a scowl on her face.
"No God can bring them any harm! Zander is not a God, he is a Demigod!" Amara shouted. Medusa turned and walked back over to Amara, grabbing her by the wrist and dragging her away from Athena. She gripped Amara's jaw tightly.
"Don't make my snakes have to seal your mouth shut with their teeth!" Medusa shouted. Athena pulled out a sword, ready to fight.
"You can try, Athena, but you won't succeed." Medusa laughed. Poseidon turned to Zander who still had his eyes shut.
"Go to the Underworld. Get Hecate to break the spell so Noelle can leave. Now!" Poseidon whispered to Zander, turning him away so he could open his eyes. Zander ran out of the palace. Helios took notice of this and followed after him. Zander made an attempt to walk down the steps of Olympus, not caring if Zeus would be notified of his return to Olympus, but as soon as he reached the second level of stairs, he was pulled onto the ground. Zander stood up to see it was someone he was unfamiliar with. Zander raised a brow, wondering why the individual had just pulled him back. Helios sighed once he realized Zander would never comprehend the situation at hand.
"I'm one of the bad guys." Helios finally said.
"Oh." Zander said. It took him a moment to register what had just been said. Once he did, he stood in his best battle pose. Helios laughed.
"You're pathetic. You underestimate my power, you cannot defeat me.." Helios said.
"I don't know if you know this.." Zander said, forming his first lightning rod in two years. "But, I'm the son of the most powerful God in all of Olympus. It is you who is underestimating me." Zander stated.
"You're also cocky and arrogant. Further proof you are the son of Zeus. No matter, you are still no match for me. For I am the God of the Sun." Helios said. Zander turned and looked to the sunset, then turned back to Helios.
"Your source of power is about to go down." Zander said, feeling even more confident than before.
"You're a fool. I control the sun. It goes down on my command." Helios said. Zander's confidence however didn't falter. Zander was the first to act. He whipped his rod towards Helios, making him stumble backward. Helios scoffed, unable to believe the confidence of the kid who stood before him. He ran straight for Zander, catching him off guard and tackling him to the ground. Helios wrapped his hands around Zander's neck, gripping tightly to cut off oxygen.
"You'd think a God would actually use his power instead of engaging in physical combat." Zander wheezed out, making an attempt to rip Helios's hands from his throat. Helios released one hand and reached back into his pocket to pull out a red liquid in a syringe. Zander finally used his superhuman strength and pushed Helios off, making him fly backward.
"What the hell is that?" Zander asked as he rubbed the skin on his neck, trying to soothe the pain. Zander kept his eyes on the syringe now on the ground. He then looked up to Helios, waiting for a reply, not knowing that he wouldn't get one. Helios stood up and held his arms out, making flame-lit sun rays come from his hands. Zander quickly stood up and ran away. Helios followed after and quickly caught up to him. He held his hand out once more to burn Zander but was tackled to the ground by a force from behind. Hermes held Helios to the ground as best as he could, but Helios shoved him back. Hermes' wings kept him from hitting the hard ground. Hermes flew straight for Helios and lifted him up and off of the cobblestone by the hem of his shirt. Helios grabbed a fistful of Hermes' wings, burning them off, and making Hermes fall backwards. Helios hadn't realized this would also result in him falling to the ground as well. The two fell like Icarus, who got too close to the sun and hit the ground hard, both having a difficult time recovering.
"Zander, get the syringe." Hermes breathed out. Zander wasted no time. He quickly ran over and picked the syringe up, tossing it over to Hermes. Hermes crawled his way over to Helios's body and injected him with the liquid. Helios quickly went unconscious and irresponsive, indicating the spell had worked and Helios was now asleep. Hermes slowly stood, feeling a little pain after falling many feet from the air. He slowly made an attempt to limp his way over to Zander. When Zander noticed his struggle, he met him halfway.
"I take it you have a lot more knowledge of this situation than I do, considering you knew to inject Helios with that liquid." Zander said. Hermes sighed.
"I'll explain it on the way. Help me get him." Hermes said, pointing to Helios. Zander walked over to Helios in three strides and lifted him up and on his shoulder. He then joined Hermes by his side.
"When they came to take over Olympus, only a few of us were fortunate enough to get out. We fled to Mount Ida and have been hiding there since." Hermes explained.
"Who's all there?" Zander asked.
"I believe you'd only know Donovan and his lover, Ares. There are 50 others give or take." Hermes said.
"I am wondering how you escaped the palace, however." Hermes asked.
"Poseidon told me to go and get his daughter. He says that since we are the only two who aren't full Gods, we are the only two who can defeat our enemies." Zander said.
"It isn't entirely true, Zander." Hermes said, stopping Zander from walking any further. Zander sighed heavily before parting his lips and saying,
"Tell me everything I need to know."
