Chapter 11: Who the hell is Bucky?

Nova's outfit: continuous

Sam and Nova stood at the roof of a small building. The plan was that Steve and Nat were going to throw Jasper Sitwell off an even larger building, to scare him. It was Sam's job to catch him just as he was about to hit the ground. This was the perfect opportunity for Nova to show Sam that he wasn't the only one who was going to be up in the air on this mission.

Sam glanced at Nova and surveyed her. "I don't get it, Why aren't you up at the roof with them?" Sam skeptically asked.

"You'll see." Nova answered. Nova looked up at the roof and saw Jasper Sitwell falling off, "That must be our cue." She said to Sam.

"Wait, Our?" Sam asked. But Nova didn't stick around to answer, She flew up in the sky, Sam gazed up at her in astonishment, "Son of a bitch." He caught up to her, both of them held Sitwell by one arm and brought him back onto the roof swiftly.

"So that's what you wanted to show me." Sam said as he turned to Nova. Nova smirked.

Nat and Steve started handling Sitwell. He put his hands up in the air, almost hyperventilating, Sam and Nova amusingly watched.

"Zola's algorithm is a program...for choosing Insight's targets!" He disclosed.

"What targets?"

"You! A TV anchor in Cairo, the Undersecretary of Defense, a high school valedictorian in Iowa city. Bruce Banner, Stephen Strange, anyone who's a threat to HYDRA! Now, or in the future." Nova's eyebrows furrowed, Who the hell is Stephen Strange?

"The Future? How could it know?" Steve asked. Sitwell laughed, as if it was obvious.

He got up, "How could it not? The 21st century is a digital book. Zola taught HYDRA how to read it." He received confused looks, "Your bank records, medical histories, voting patterns, e-mails, phone calls, your damn SAT scores. Zola's algorithm evaluates people's past to predict their future." He further explained. Nova looked around, feeling uneasy at what was being revealed.

"And what then?" Steve pushed.

Sitwell evaluated the consequences of him confessing all of this in his head, "Oh, my God. Pierce is gonna kill me." Sitwell panicked.

"What then?!" Steve pushed further.

"Then the Insight Helicarriers scratch people off the list. A few million at a time."

Nova sat in the backseat with Nat and Sitwell, they were in a car, Sam was driving, Steve was in the passenger seat.

"Hydra doesn't like leaks." Sitwell blabbed.

"So why don't you try sticking a cork in it." Sam joked.

Nat stuck her head to the front of the car "Insight's launching in sixteen hours, we're cutting it a little bit close here."

"I know. We'll use him to bypass the DNA scans and access the Helicarriers directly." Steve planned.

"What?! Are you crazy? That is a terrible, terrible idea!" Sitwell panicked once again.

Nova grew annoyed, "Oh would you just-" Suddenly someone landed on the roof, a hand reached in through the window, breaking the glass, and grabbing Sitwell. It all happened in a flash. It was The Winter Soldier. He threw Sitwell onto incoming Traffic, killing him. Gunshots started raining through the roof. Nat jumped to the front seat, Nova created an energy shield around herself. There wasn't any time to think, The Winter Soldier was swift.

Sam jabbed on the breaks, The Assassin went flying forward, landing on the street. He scratched the pavement to catch balance. Nova caught a glance at him, she had never been more terrified. He looked deadly. A few cars crashed into their car from behind. Sam drove right at the assassin, causing him to jump back onto the car. He smashed through the windscreen and pulled out the steering wheel.

He jumped onto the vehicle behind them, and the car was pushed off the road. "Hang on!" Steve shouted as he pulled out the car door, and held onto the rest of three. They slid down the road. Nova flew up the ground, Sam rolled off on the road.

The Winter Soldier shot an explosive at Nat and Steve. Steve pushed Nat out of the way. Nova flew towards Sam, helping him up, they hurried and hid behind a car. Hydra Agents shot at them, Nova formed an energy field around herself and Sam. Sam looked up at it confused. They left their cover. Nova flew towards Steve to help him.

He had crashed onto a bus, He hadn't come out of it yet, The Winter Soldier furiously shot at the bus. Nova alarmingly flew behind the winter soldier, holding him in a energy force hold. He looked up at her, pissed. "Oh no." Nova said. The Assassin grunted as he tried to break out of the hold Nova had on him. She tried to hold onto him, he tried to move his hands and shoot at her. When she noticed him aiming the gun at her and almost pulling the trigger she got caught off guard and flew behind a car, letting him out of the energy hold. He concentrated back on Steve.

Nova had earned a couple Hydra Agents on her back. She held up her hands, force picking heavy rubble and threw them onto the agents. Defeating them in an instant.

The Winter Soldier was on Steve's tail. Nova watched him from behind a car as he loaded his gun, walking towards Nat. He threw a grenade under a car thinking Nat was behind it. When it blew up Nat jumped up on his head, trying to strangle him, but he threw her off. Nova considered this her cue. She flew towards them, The Assassin had his gun aiming at Nat, Nova telepathically held on to it, floating it up in the air and hitting The Assassin right in the face with it. He again looked up at her, enraged. Nat threw an electric device to his arm and ran away. Nova followed her.

Just then, Nat was shot in the shoulder, she settled behind a car gripping it. Nova sat down beside her to check on her. She looked up from behind the car to see Steve and The Soldier in a fierce Battle. She observed it all. At a point, The soldier's mask came off. He looked back at Steve, nothing but death in his eyes. Nova's eyes rested on his face for a minute, it looked so familiar, she had seen him somewhere, she didn't know where.

"Bucky?" Steve said.

The Winter Soldier looked at him, "Who the hell is Bucky?"

Nova decided it was time to fly out. Just then The Falcon came up from behind, kicking The Winter Soldier causing him to fall ahead. The Winter Soldier got up, ready to make his next move, but he was shot by a limping Natasha.

Hydra Agents arrived, surrounding the four. Steve was still staggered. They had them get on the ground, arresting them. Pointing guns at their heads. It was over.
