Sam and Nova had decided to head over to a bar. They walked in, it was a bar that Nova had suggested, she often went there when she felt alone, it was nice to talk to drunk strangers, you could pour your whole heart out and it wouldn't matter. The bar had a dim but lively atmosphere. They sat down on the counter stools.

That morning Nova had her 'panic attack', she was still a bit shaken up about it, as she stirred her drink with her straw, staring a hole into it, Sam noticed. "You good?" He asked concerned.

"What? Oh, yeah I'm fine." She answered, putting on a fake smile.

"You don't look it. Anyway, I called Steve." he casually said.

Nova looked at Sam wide eyed. "Steve's in the city?" she asked.

"Yeah, for a few days, I asked him to join us, I hope that's alright." he made sure.

"Yeah, it's great." Nova said dulled.

Sam looked around the bar, his gaze landed on a girl across from him, she had been eyeing him. Sam smirked, "I'll be right back,"

Nova looked at where Sam was looking and smiled. "Right." she chuckled. Sam got up and walked towards the girl, Nova watched him as he introduced himself, she smiled and then averted her gaze back to her drink.

She was alone with her thoughts again, nothing but distant bar chatter to distract her. She watched a drop of moisture travel down the glass, and focused on it. Stop it. Forget it. Leave my head. Go away. Stop it. Memories started rushing back to her head.

"Darling, this one isn't like the ones before." Daisy explained.

"Sure mom,"

"Why won't you listen to me?"

"Because I've heard this like 10 times before too? 'Oh he's not like the other guys, oh darling he's different.' I swear mom, you always do this, then I'm there to clean up the mess!"

"Honey, would you just meet Rick?"

The drop of moisture was about to reach the end of the glass. Shut up! Stop it! Stop remembering it! Shut up! You're different now! You're not in that city anymore! You have a different life! The drop travelled down faster, faster, faster. Stop it! Stop it! STOP IT! The drop hit the table, something rushed through Nova, her eyes turned blue, rage filled her.

"Hey," Nova almost jumped, swiftly turning around, with her eyebrows furrowed she looked at the more than familiar man behind her, It was a usual jolly looking Steve Rogers.

"Woah, your eyes." he noticed. Nova blinked, her eyes went back to normal, she went back to normal, whatever normal was.

"Hey, sorry." she said softly. Steve smiled and sat beside her, "It's good to see you, how've you been?" asked Nova.

"Oh, the same. How was your vacation?" he inquired.

"Uh, uneventful!" Nova blurted, "Nothing happened."

"Right." Steve looked at her suspiciously. "Any luck with...?" Steve tilted his head to the side, referring to Bucky.

"Oh, um, no." she lied, "You?"

"No, I'm beginning to think it's a dead end, I don't think he wants to be found." Steve looked down at his lap gloomily.

"Well, most of the time we don't know what we want," she said, "Or what we need."

A slight smile appeared on Steve's lips, his smile was contagious to Nova. "Yeah, I guess you're right."

Sam walked back up to the counter when he saw Steve, "Hey man." he greeted.

"Hey, you get lucky?" Steve gestured towards the girl Sam was talking to.

"No, but I will." he said confidently. "So, Nova, how was Romania?" Sam said in a teasing tone. as he sat down.

"What? You were in Romania?" Steve was puzzled, it was the first time he was hearing of it.

"Yeah..." She said softly looking down at her drink.

"That's a weird vacation spot." He commented.

"THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I SAID!" Sam almost screamed. "I'm telling you, Steve, she went there for some other purpose." he teased.

"Oh, I wanna hear this." Nova said prepared, "What other purpose, Sam?"

"I don't know," he shrugged, "Perhaps, you fell in love with a foreigner."

Nova audibly expressed her disgust and annoyance, Steve was having the time of his life listening to this banter. "Oh! Please!" she said disgusted.

"I mean think about it, What's there to sightsee in Romania?" Sam joked. His attention was again averted to the girl, she was smirking at him and gestured him to follow her as she was leaving the bar, "Oh I gotta go — get lucky." he left hurriedly without taking his eyes off the girl. He stopped in his tracks and came back to Nova and Steve. "You know, it wouldn't hurt for you two to find someone too." he said and left again.

The pair left alone, glanced at each other awkwardly. "As if it were that easy." Nova mumbled, solemnly staring at her drink.

"I get that." Steve said. "Nat kept bugging me to go on a date or find someone, but, how will I ever find anyone who understands anything I went through. Imagine the reaction when I tell them I'm almost a hundred." he joked.

Nova looked up at Steve, "This job. It's so—lonely. You constantly ache for someone to be there, but you will also never find anyone who can understand anything about this— world." she said, referring to the world of being an avenger.

"Well, I'm always here." He said shyly.

Nova flashed Steve a soft smile, "I'm always here for you, Rogers."
