"Yeah right," Tony said to 18 year old Nova Adler, who stood on his doorstep, somehow getting through all his security, she was a smart girl, after all she was
"I am, I'm your daughter."
Tony rolled his eyes and walked back inside, he didn't close the door so Nova saw it as an invite inside, He went to pour himself a drink, Nova followed him.
"I have my birth certificate and everything," She held up her birth certificate, "Look!" It had stated Tony Stark as her dad.
"So? Birth Certificates can be faked,"
"You think I'd want to fake being a billionaire and playboy's daughter? This isn't fun for me either." She spat. "Hey, you're welcome to do a DNA test, there's probably a lab or something nearby-"
"No need." Tony said as he swiftly pulled out a hair from Nova's head. She let out an 'ow' noise.
"Just to entertain this, because there's nothing good on TV, I'll do the test." He said as he walked down to his lab, Nova followed him in confusion.
He put the strand of hair in a steel tray that one of his robot's took. In just a matter of seconds there was a beep.
"What's the verdict, Jarvis?" Tony said playfully.
"Sir, it is affirmative," A robotic voice spoke, it startled Nova a bit. "Nova Adler, daughter of Tony Stark."
Nova crossed her arms and smirked at Tony. He looked at her, he was bewildered. "What? No, Run it again." Nova rolled her eyes, offended.
"I am running the test again, Sir." Jarvis said. "The results remain unchanged." Tony softly fell back on his chair, his mouth half opened.
"I have- What? I have a- You're my-" Tony looked at Nova.
"Daughter. Yeah. You met my mom sometime when you were 22, at some party, Daisy Adler." Tony looked at her confused, of course he couldn't remember her.
"Yeah you probably don't remember her, Trust me she didn't want it to be any more than a one night stand either." Tony looked at her perplexed, how would she know that? Nova read his expression, "Oh, Uh, that's what it said, on uh, her letter, Um, she died. A few months back."
"What?" Tony said.
"Yeah, Cancer." Tony took that in, there was a beat. "But anyway, she left me a letter, she didn't tell me who my dad was my whole life, She explained why in the letter," Nova said as she took, said letter, out of her coat jacket and handed it to Tony.
"I guess she was afraid, that you may abandon me, us, she didn't want me to get hurt." Tony looked at her, still speechless, he opened the letter and read through it.
"Oh man," He said softly, "I have a daughter, that I never knew about." He sinked further back into his chair.
"Um, I don't want anything from you, I guess I just wanted to know that, um, if you had known, would you have abandoned us?" Nova spoke nervously, looking at the ground. Tony's gaze softened. He got up and stood next to her.
"Nova, I can't speak for myself back then, but now, You're my daughter, you came from me," He let out a little laugh, "Oh that's so weird, I have a daughter."
"Yeah, you've said that sentence like ten times up till now," Nova said sarcastically.
"She could have reached out, your mom, I should have known about this," He said. Nova didn't say anything.
"Well, I don't need anything from you, I just wanted to meet you, you know, my father," She said and let out a laugh, which she regretted. "I guess, I'll go now. Uhm, Bye." She said as she turned around to walk away.
"What? No! I'd like to get to know my daughter." Tony demanded. Nova turned around. "You're 18, I missed 18 years of your life, Don't I get to have a dinner or something?"
Nova contemplated it. "Fine. I guess we can have dinner, Or something."
"I know you don't need me, kid, but I would really love to be in your life, we'll take it one step at a time." He said.
