They were all gathered in Tony's lab, the tension thick in the air. "So, that was Ultron?" Nova broke the silence, her voice cutting through the tension like a knife, as everyone else checked through the security systems.

"You knew about this?" Steve's voice was sharp as he confronted Nova, his eyes searching hers for answers.

"Well, he mentioned it, but I wasn't exactly expecting a psycho killer bot," Nova blurted out, immediately regretting her words when she saw the guilt etched on Tony's face. "Sorry," she whispered to Tony, her apology barely audible amidst the chaos of the room.

"He's been in everything. Files, surveillance. Probably knows more about us than we know about each other," Nat informed grimly, her expression reflecting the gravity of the situation.

"He's in your files, he's in the internet. What if he decides to access something a little more exciting?" Rhodey added, his tone laced with concern.

"Nuclear codes," Maria finished, her words hanging heavily in the air like an ominous cloud.

Nova sat on one of the ledges of the lab, her head in her hands, feeling the weight of the world pressing down on her shoulders. Chaos seemed to follow them wherever they went, leaving them with little hope for peace.

"He said he wanted us dead," Nat recalled, her voice tinged with unease.

"He didn't say dead. He said extinct," Steve added, his words sending a chill down Nova's spine.

"He also said he killed somebody."

"But there wasn't anyone else in the building," Maria said, confusion evident in her voice.

"Yes there was," Tony interjected, pulling up the now destroyed 3D image of Jarvis' consciousness, his expression grave.

Nova's heart sank as she realized the implications. She removed her head from her hands and stood up, her eyes wide with shock. "Oh Jarvis..." she whispered to herself, mourning the loss of their trusted ally.

"JARVIS was the first line of defense. He would've shut Ultron down, it makes sense," Steve said, trying to make sense of the situation.

"No, Ultron could've assimilated Jarvis. This isn't strategy, this is...rage," Bruce explained, his voice tinged with sorrow.

Just then, Thor burst into the room, his anger palpable as he immediately grabbed Tony by the throat, lifting him off the ground. "Come on. Use your words, buddy," Tony managed to choke out, his voice strained.

"I have more than enough words to describe you, Stark," Thor growled, his grip tightening with each passing moment.

Nova stepped forward, placing herself between Thor and Tony, her expression determined. "Thor, I suggest you put him down," she said firmly, meeting Thor's gaze head-on.

After a moment of hesitation, Thor released Tony, his anger still simmering beneath the surface.

"Good. Now, the legionnaire?" Nova inquired, her voice steady despite the chaos around them.

"Trail went cold about a hundred miles out but it's headed north, and it has the scepter. Now we have to retrieve it, again," Thor informed bitterly, his frustration evident in every word.

"I don't understand. You built this program. Why is it trying to kill us?" Helen Cho asked, her confusion mirroring Nova's own thoughts.

Tony's laughter rang out through the room, sending shivers down Nova's spine. "Not right now, dad..." she muttered under her breath, her exhaustion with her father's antics evident.

"You think this is funny?" Thor demanded, his eyes narrowing in disbelief.

"No. It's probably not, right? Is this very terrible? Is it so... is it so... it is. It's so terrible," Tony murmured, his words a stark contrast to the gravity of the situation.

Nova couldn't help but facepalm, her frustration with Tony reaching its breaking point.

"This could've been avoided if you hadn't played with something you don't understand," Thor argued, his voice tinged with reproach.

"No, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It is funny. It's a hoot that you don't get why we need this," Tony retorted, his tone bordering on manic.

"Tony, maybe this might not be the time to—" Bruce attempted to intervene.

"Anybody remember when I carried a nuke through a wormhole?" Tony said, his voice growing more serious with each word. "Recall that? A hostile alien army came charging through a hole in space. We're standing three hundred feet below it. We're the Avengers. We can bust arms dealers all the live long day, but, that up there? That's... that's the end game. How were you guys planning on beating that?"

"Together," Steve declared, his voice unwavering in the face of adversity.

"We'll lose."

"We'll do that together too."

Nova smiled at Steve, her admiration for his leadership unwavering even in the darkest of times. His ability to instill hope in others was a beacon of light in their darkest hour.

"Thor's right. Ultron's calling us out. And I'd like to find him before he's ready for us. The world's a big place. Let's start making it smaller," Steve commanded, his determination reigniting the spark of hope within Nova's heart.

"Aye aye captain," Nova said in a low voice, her resolve firm as she stood by Steve's side, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

And we're back. She thought.
