Nova and Steve were amidst their walk. They hadn't talked since it started. But the silence was comfortable. They both had too much on their minds. Nova looked at Steve, he was still in his suit, she realised they were two idiots walking around in spandex.

"God, we should have changed first." she remarked.

Steve looked down at his suit, like he just noticed it. "Oh, yeah. I didn't even notice, it feels i'm always in it nowadays." he said, giving a faint smile.

"It's too much, isn't it? Do you sometimes want a normal life, away from all this, doing laundry and having a 9-5 job?" Nova asked, her voice tinged with a hint of longing.

Steve sighed, "It almost feels like this is all I've ever known. Imagining a life like that, it seems so...distant." He admitted, his gaze drifting away.

"You miss it a lot, don't you? The 40s." Nova said.

"Home is home." Steve murmured.

"I, for one, am grateful for the tragedy that brought you here," Nova said in a sarcastic tone. Steve looked at her and chuckled. "No, I really am. Really couldn't have gotten through all of this without you."

"Well, there's one thing the 40s didn't have, that I didn't know I needed." Steve said smiling.

"What? Cellphones? The internet? Less Racism?"

"You." Steve cut off Nova.

Nova was momentarily taken aback, unsure of how to respond. She felt like a little schoolgirl. Blood rushed to her cheeks and she kept on walking ahead, with her gaze lowered, not trying to make eye contact with Steve who was very clearly looking at her.

"Well, um, we also have uh, good satellite television so..."

Nova had taken a shower and changed into clothes she borrowed from Laura. She was sitting on the porch drinking coffee and watching Steve and Tony chop wood.

They had started somewhat arguing, but she was too tired to intervene, plus she was used to it by now and had learned to block it out.

Fucking Typical!

Rick's voice echoed in Nova's head. She really hadn't been able to get it out since the vision. Before they were just memories, but now she relived them. Wanda really did a number on her. And to think Nova wanted to be in an alliance with her. But one thing was evident, Wanda was far better at controlling her powers than Nova. She could have taught her a lot.

Two of Clint's kids came on to the porch. They were playing with their toys. Nova watched them blissfully. They brought her some sort of peace. The idea of not knowing, of being young, it was desirable.

One of them threw a ball at the other, and it rolled away. "Oh, I'll fetch that for ya." Nova offered. She didn't wanna get up and wanted to impress the kids with her powers. She raised her hand, and tried to bring the ball to her. But she failed. She was perplexed and tried again. The ball didn't budge, and some how she couldn't even feel her powers. She got up and picked up the ball herself. Brushing this off, she was probably just tired.

Steve and Tony had now started to argue quite loudly. "Banner and I were doing research." Tony said.

"That would effect the team!" Steve said.

"That would end the team! Isn't that the mission? Isn't that the "why" we fight, so we can end the fight, so we get to go home?" Tony  shouted.

Steve split a wood log with his bare hands. Nova raised her eyebrows in amazement. It was sort of attractive. Wrong time idiot!, she thought. "Every time someone tries to win a war before it starts, innocent people die. Every time." Steve retaliated.

Just then Laura arrived, "I'm sorry. Mr. Stark, uh, Clint said you wouldn't mind, but, our tractor, it doesn't seem to want to start at all. I thought maybe you might..."

"Yeah, I'll give her a kick." Tony said as he left.

Nova gave Steve a look, Why would you do that? Steve shook his head slightly and looked away, feeling guilty.

Nova headed after Tony to check up on him. As she reached the barn she heard voices from the inside.  "I'm not the director of anybody. I'm just an old man, who cares very much about you." She heard. Fury.

She decided to not go in and eavesdrop from the outside, yes it was morally wrong, but somehow it felt like this was a conversation that needed to involve only Tony and Fury.

"And I'm the man who killed the Avengers. I saw it." Nova furrowed her brows as she heard her Dad's heartfelt confession. "I didn't tell the team, how could I? I saw them all dead, Nick. I felt it. The whole world, too. It's because of me. I wasn't ready. I didn't do all I could."

"The Maximoff girl, she's working you, Stark. Playing on your fear." Fury said.

"I wasn't tricked, I was shown. It wasn't a nightmare, it was my legacy. The end of the path I started us on." Tony replied.

"You've come up with some pretty impressive inventions, Tony. War isn't one of them."

"I watched my friends die. I watched my daughter die! You'd think that'd be as bad as it gets, right? Nope. Wasn't the worst part." He said.

"The worst part is that you didn't."

Nova looked down at her feet, feeling horrible. She didn't know her dad was holding this in ever since the strucker mission. And to think you could have never seen it on his face. The urge to make Ultron had become more apparent to her now. She didn't want her dad to feel this way, so she knew she would do everything in her power to stop Ultron.
