The avengers suited up and headed to Sokovia. Nova was nervous, she didn't want what happened on the bridge to happen again, and she was aware that it was inevitable.
Wanda, Pietro, and Nova were given orders to clear out the civilians. Nova stood infatuated, watching Wanda mind-control people into leaving their houses and going to safety.
"How do you do that?" Nova questioned.
"Do what?" Wanda's thick accent rang through.
"Neurological interfacing," Nova said. Wanda gave her a confused glance. "Get into people's heads." She rephrased.
"I don't know." Wanda said.
"Did you learn it?" Nova asked.
"No, it came to me naturally when I first got these—" She looked down at her hands, "Powers."
"I've never been able to properly do it." Nova admitted.
"Maybe its you. Your head. It must be too...crowded, foggy.Maybe get in your head before you try to get into someone else's." Wanda explained.
Nova looked down, perplexed as to how Wanda knew so clearly what the issue was, then she realised. "You've been in my head, haven't you!"
Wanda smirked, "Not the best place to be in."
Ultron's droids began to attack. Wanda and Nova fought against them, all while protecting the citizens. Nova could feel her control on her powers begin to slip away. But she pushed through.
Suddenly, the earth around Sokovia began to crack. Everyone stopped in their tracks. Nova looked around in confusion and horror. The city was being lifted up into the sky. "Oh god." Nova whispered to herself. She turned to Wanda, "I'm gonna help the people towards the edge, you'll be fine?" She said. Wanda nodded.
Nova flew up, going around the edge of the city, helping people, preventing them from falling to their death. As she flew she felt her powers start to weaken, she began to fall from the sky, she tried to regain flight but it didn't work. Nova began to panic, "DAD!" She screamed out into the coms.
"Uh, honey, can it wait?" He said through the coms, he was in the middle of battling droids.
"No! I'm about to fall through the sky and hit the ground, gravity won't wait!" She screamed out in frustration.
"What?" Tony quickly got rid of the droids around him and spotted Nova through the help of FRIDAY. He accelerated towards her in high speed.
Nova was almost about to hit the ground, she screamed out loud, and closed her eyes. But just in time, she was lifted up. Tony landed with Nova in his arms. The front of his helmet flew open, "Alright kid, what the hell?" He said, he looked angry. "What's going on with you."
"I don't know!" Nova said in tears, "My powers they're drifting away, they won't work!"
"What do you mean they won't work?!" Tony shouted, but when he saw that it only made Nova cry more, he sighed. "Look, kid, look around. Now I don't know what's going on with you, but I know you can fix it, because look around." He pointed to the city. "These people need your help, alright? I need your help. Now I know you can push through this, you can push through anything, but the question is, do you think you can?" He looked at her with hope.
Nova pushed back her tears and determinately nodded, "Go! I'll do it!" She said. Tony looked at her one last time in concern, before heading off into the sky. Nova instantly got hit with an energy beam from one of the droids, she took cover behind a wall and held her shoulder while crying out in pain. The tears didn't stop.
Nova, they need you. Your family needs you. Nova thought. Your family needs you. Do it, for them.
Nova closed her eyes shut, as she opened them again, suddenly she was back there. Holding the gun she found in her mothers closet. She eyed her unconscious mother lying on the floor of the living room. She pointed it at Rick. He looked at her bewildered, "Nova. What's in your hand?"
"Go away. Leave my mom alone, leave us alone!" Nova screamed.
"Nova—"
She aimed at his leg and immediately pulled the trigger. He fell to the ground and screamed out in pain. "Nova, what the fuck did you just do?!" Rick pierced through Nova with his gaze, as he held the wound on his leg. "NOVA!"
"Tomorrow morning. You will be gone, you won't contact us ever again. You will leave me and my mom alone."
Nova held up a gun she found in her mom's closet. She eyed her unconscious mother lying on the floor of the living room. She pointed it at Rick. He looked at her bewildered, "Nova. What's in your hand?"
"Go away. Leave my mom alone, leave us alone!" Nova screamed.
"Nova—"
She aimed at his leg and immediately pulled the trigger. He fell to the ground and screamed out in pain. "Nova, what the fuck did you just do?!" Rick pierced through Nova with his gaze, as he held the wound on his leg. "NOVA!"
Nova stared in disbelief unable to form a sentence. "Leave! Leave us alone! Or I'll kill you!"
"You fucking bitch!"
"Tomorrow morning. You will be gone, you won't contact us ever again. You will leave me and my mom alone."
Suddenly Rick started laughing.What? No, this never happened. Nova thought to herself. Rick stood up, his leg still bleeding, he continued maniacally laughing as he got closer and closer to Nova.
(PLAY: BIGMOUTH STRIKES AGAIN - THE SMITHS)
Nova froze, unable to do anything, this wasn't the way it went. It's just your head, it's just a nightmare, he left the next morning, he never came back, focus Nova, this isn't real. Think about your family. Steve, Bruce, Clint, Nat, Tony. Nova shut her eyes. PUSH THROUGH! She opened them, they were raging blue, "You're not real!" She screamed at Rick. Suddenly her powers took over her, they ran through her whole body, she could feel it in every single vein, in every cell. She hit Rick with her powers, "You're not real!" Rick went flying back.
Nova opened her eyes, she was back in Sokovia. Her powers surrounded her, she was consumed by them, a droid shot at her from behind. She looked back it in rage and released a massive wave of energy that destroyed every bot in her surrounding. She took off into the sky, flourished with power, this had never happened before. She had reached her full extent, she had evolved into SuperNova.
