Cupid walked out of class, with her book clutched tightly to her chest.
She looked down as she passed the others, staring down at her shoes as she walked. Cupid felt as if she was caught in a haze. Everything suddenly felt unclear. Cupid sighed. Her shoes were a nice shade of copper, carved with beautiful, intricate designs. It also had a heart on the heels, coloured pink. She smiled at her shoes. Her smile fell when she saw a familiar pair of shoes right in front of hers. Two tall brown boots greeted her. She knew exactly who it belonged to, considering she's walked miles with the owner of those shoes.
Cupid raised her head to meet the eyes of Alistair Wonderland.
"Hey Alistair."
"Cupid, finally!" he said excitedly. "I haven't seen you since yesterday night."
Cupid let out a light chuckle. "Since you kissed Bunny."
Alistair blushed, he put his hand behind his neck. "Yeah," he laughed. "I still can't believe it! I kissed Bunny, I actually did! Can you believe that?" Cupid nodded, smiling. "Yes I can, because I was there, witnessed everything actually." Alistair bit his cheek. "I'm kind of worried though."
Cupid raised her eyebrows. "Why? You kissed Bunny, that's great, right?"
"Of course it is! It's just," Alistair sighed, "Will things change?" Cupid tilted her head. He waved his hand dismissively. "I meant like, will we be awkward now?" he asked. Cupid thought for a short while, and then she shrugged. "Hopefully not," she replied. Alistair gave her a gentle push on the shoulder. "That didn't make me feel better."
Cupid gave him a lopsided smile.
"You kissed her," she inhaled sharply. "Things will change for sure, but maybe it's for the better. Maybe you and Bunny will finally be official." Cupid said the last sentence holding her breath. She slowly exhaled.
Alistair nodded slowly, considering what she just said.
"Yeah, you're right."
"I always am."
Alistair smiled and rolled his eyes.
Cupid bit her lower lip. She let out a cough.
"Are-" she gave him a soft smile, eyes flicking back and forth from his left eye to his right. "Are you going to ask her out? To be your girlfriend."
Alistair winced. "I want to," he said. Cupid kept up her smile. "But, what if she says no?"
Cupid noticed the way his hair was neater today, slightly slicked back. His attire was more put-together than usual, and his eyes sparkled. She snorted. Cupid reached out and ruffled Alistair's hair, messing it up. Alistair flinched and jumped back, "Hey! What was that for?" A strand of hair fell in front of his eye. Cupid sighed and moved it away from his face. "Look at you, Alistair Wonderland, how could Bunny ever say no to you?"
Alistair grabbed Cupid's wrist, making her freeze.
"Charming as always, Cupid." The words drawled from his tongue easily.
Her cheeks blushed.
Cupid cleared her throat and pulled her hand away.
"What I'm saying is, just go for it," she said fast. "You idiot," she ended. Alistair put a hand to his heart, faking offence. "That hurt me," Alistair crossed his arms. "But, because it came from Cupid herself, I'll be damned if I don't follow that advice, won't I?"
Cupid raised her hand, pretending to hit him. Alistair backed away from her as he laughed. "Yeah, you will," she replied, a sarcastic tone in her voice. He straightened his satchel. "Okay then, I guess it's time to ask Bunny to be my girlfriend."
