Cupid let herself fall, sinking slowly into the water.

She could still feel the moonlight against her eyelids, and she felt the cold water turn warmer as she sunk deeper into the lake, engulfing her whole. Her long pink hair flowed behind her beautifully.

Cupid felt a relief flooding her veins.

She let her head fall back, embracing this feeling, one that she's never felt before.

Cupid could almost feel the darkness, tugging at her skin, slowly pulling her with it as her last breaths left her body. It was dragging her away, and she let herself fall limp, carried away in its arms.

This is okay, she thought.

It's okay now.

She felt her body almost letting go of her soul, every beat of her heart slowing down by each thrum. It was melodic, and it was heavenly.

She felt peace.

One like she's never felt before.

Until she felt a hand clasped around her arm.

Her eyes fluttered open in instinct, meeting a shade of blue that she almost didn't recognize.

The figure pulled her by her shoulders, upwards. Cupid's head lolled down, eyes looking at the bottom of the grounds of water she almost descended into. Her fingers opened, reaching out for it, for the darkness.

Maybe next time,

It spoke to her.

Cupid's eyes finally closed.

Cupid's eyes felt so heavy, her body weighed down.

And her chest hurts, so badly. She tried lifting a hand to reach her still-beating heart, but it felt too heavy to move. Cupid felt her whole body shaking and trembling, the harsh wind hitting her skin. She could feel the grass underneath her legs, pricking her like needles. Cupid winced, everything felt painful. She began coughing, her coughs small but getting bigger and bigger. Her ribs started to hurt more as her body shook by her coughs. A pained groan escaped her cold lips.

Cupid's eyelids slowly fluttered open. She used everything in her might, the last strength that she could muster in her body to sit upwards, hands shaking like crazy as she tried to.

But it was interrupted, by a fist to her numb cheek.

Cupid's body fell to the side, a shock overtaking her senses as her cheek laid on the ground, body trembling as she took in sharp breaths that hurt her chest.

"What," the person said, panting, "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!" he shouted at her. Cupid let out a yell of pain. She blinked multiple times, adjusting her heavy eyes. "Were you crazy!? Are you out of your damn mind!?" he kept yelling at her. His two hands were now grasping at the collar of her clothes, shaking her body furiously as he pulled her up into a sitting position, but his words still reached her ears foggily, eyes still dazed.

Her ribs throbbed badly, her lungs hurt. She put a hand to her punched cheek, it was freezing.

Cupid's hand moved to her chest as the person kept shouting directly at her. She inhaled sharply, almost like she was gasping for air, trying her best to take in deep breaths and exhale. "My-" she whispered, wincing, "My chest hurts." Her voice came out rough and small, barely audible.

He couldn't hear her.

Cupid's face crumpled in pain, her voice breaking as she tried to gasp for air, "Stop," she cried softly to him, "Please."
