Alistair put his face in his hands. He groaned.
Cupid drew scribbles in her book. She looked up at Alistair in front of her, and rolled her eyes.
"Look, I've told you a million times, I'm 99% sure Bunny's just as in love with you, as you are with her. So just confess and ask her out!" Alistair put his hands down on the table. "How about the 1%?" he asked. Cupid shrugged, "It's just 1%." Alistair threw his hands up. "Cupid, I don't even think she likes me! And I know you think otherwise, but still..." he sighed. "I don't want to ruin our friendship."
Cupid nodded slowly, and gestured him to continue.
"What if-" he bit his inner lip. "What if I confess to her, and turns out, she doesn't feel the same way?" He laid his head on the table, a defeated look on his face. "Then it'll be weird between us. Our friendship, burned to the ground."
"I get it, Alistair," Cupid put down her pen. "You'd rather bottle your feelings away, rather than take that chance of her rejecting you. You'd rather let things be the way it is now, rather than have the possibility of losing her."
He hummed in acknowledgement.
"But even if she doesn't like you back, I don't think all will be gone between you."
Alistair looked up at Cupid.
"You've been friends for what? 10 years? You really think all those years will disappear after one confession?"
He narrowed his eyes. "Yes, that's exactly what I think."
Cupid bit her cheek as she thought. "Think of it like this, if I confess to you that I like you, would you avoid me and stop talking to me forever?" Alistair stayed silent. He shook his head. "No, of course not-" Cupid smiled. "See-"
Alistair raised his finger up. "-But," he cut her off. Cupid's lips turned downwards again, she groaned. "That's just how I am. But Bunny? She may have a different reaction than I would've."
Cupid rested her chin on her palm.
"I mean, if you suddenly confess to me that you're in love with me, things would be awkward sure, but eventually, we'll go back to how we were," Alistair pointed at Cupid and himself. "Because that's how we are. That's just how Alistair and Cupid are."
Cupid's lips perked up in a teasing smile. "So, you're basically saying our relationship is indestructible no matter what, but you and Bunny's relationship isn't?"
Alistair's head lifted up in confusion. "W-what? That's not what I meant-"
"I know that's not what you meant," Cupid let out a laugh. "Your argument was quite faulty, and I think you're just in over your head."
Alistair frowned.
Cupid gave him a smile. "But, if you're not ready to confess, that's okay," she began. "Love is complicated. You keep waiting for a perfect time to tell her your feelings. But trust me, if you keep doubting yourself, no time will ever feel right." Cupid closed her book and folded her arms. "So, Alistair, you don't have to speak up right away, but I hope you will be brave enough to do it, soon."
She stood up. "Come on, we need to go to class."
Alistair's eyes gleamed. He stood up. Cupid began walking, and Alistair quickly ran up to her. "Cupid, have I told you you're the best?" he joked. Cupid shrugged playfully. "No, you haven't. But I can always feel it." He laughed with her. They then separated ways, each going to their own classes.
~♡~
Cupid had Chemythstery. The class that she used to love, but now dreaded. Of course, she used to love it because she'd be partnered up with Dexter. But now, Sparrow Hood is her partner. He's the worst partner anyone could ever ask for. Loud, annoying, doesn't put in ANY work, and a bully. All he does is weigh her down.
