Alistair and Cupid walked, the grass crunching under their shoes.
Cupid looked behind her back, tossing her hair back as she got a view of the majestic buildings of Ever After High. She then turned to her partner by her side, smiling.
"Where do you think we should go?" she asked, arm brushing against Alistair's.
The slight touch of their skin used to mean nothing, not much at least. But now it meant more than ever, even the slightest touch, because it might just be the last. Cupid pulled away slightly.
Alistair hummed, and shrugged. "I don't know," he said, "Let's see where fate takes us, Miss Love."
Cupid chuckled, shaking her head as she took a deep breath. She looked at the boy beside her, who had a warm smile on his lips. Beautiful blue eyes lit under the moonlight, Alistair Wonderland. A corner of Cupid's lips tugged upwards.
She loved him.
She is in love with him.
And this could be their last night, ever being Alistair and Cupid. Of being themselves truly as they are, together.
So Cupid inched herself closer to him, nudging his arm as he stumbled to the side slightly.
"Hey!" he yelled, grinning, holding his arm as he pretended to be hurt. Cupid quickly put a finger to her lips, leaning her face closer to his, "Shh!" her eyes widened, unable to contain her laughs, "The guards might be able to hear us!" she whisper-yelled.
Alistair shrugged again, a look in his face. "So what?" he challenged, "Let them."
Cupid shook her head, bursting into laughter. A sense of relief flowed through her body. "Oh," she said. Cupid took a step towards Alistair and poked his stomach. He jumped back, "Hey!" Cupid did it again, making him squirm, "Hey! Stop that!" he yelled, "Cupid!" She didn't listen, and they began going in circles, as Cupid tried to make him laugh. Alistair bat her hands away, "Cupid, I'm warning you here," putting a finger near her face.
"So what?" Cupid stopped, tilting her head, using his own sentence against him as she pushed his finger down, holding onto it longer than she should've before she let go.
Both of them noticed, none said a word.
Alistair glared at her.
Suddenly, there was a yell behind them. The two snapped their heads. Cupid squinted her eyes as she took a step closer. Her eyes widened. She began hitting Alistair's arm, taking steps back. "Alistair, the guards!" she yelled, pulling his elbow back with her, "The guards!"
"You two students!" One of the guards yelled, "What are you doing there!?'
Alistair scoffed, laughing, "Well they're clearly terrible guards, since they've never caught us out before." He yelled out, "Hey!" a laugh escaped his lips, "First time on duty?"
Cupid gasped, hitting his arm. "Alistair, what are you doing!" she shook her head, "You're going to get us suspended!"
Alistair raised an eyebrow, "Okay?" he grabbed a hold of her hand in his. Cupid's heart felt like it stopped for a split second. His eyes glittered, warm as he spoke, "That just means we have to run faster, so they can't catch up to us, two runaways."
Cupid's eyebrows furrowed. Alistair then began running, pulling her along with him.
"Hey!" the other guard yelled, "Get back here!"
Alistair and Cupid ran even faster, wind blowing their hair all over. Alistair turned his head around, eyes squinting as he laughed away. The guards kept on running for them. Cupid gasped, bursting into laughter, gripping his hand tighter.
