Alistair narrowed his eyes, trying to find a pink-haired girl in the crowd of students, trying to get to their own classes.
A finger touched his shoulder.
Alistair jumped, turning around. His shoulders relaxed as he saw Bunny's face. Bunny gave him a concerned look. "What's wrong?" she asked. Alistair scanned his eyes from left to right, "Nothing, I'm just worried."
Bunny raised her eyebrows. "Why?"
Alistair bit his cheek. "Cupid. I haven't seen her since last night. She was supposed to be in class, but she isn't." Bunny's eyes turned sympathetic. "You know," she shrugged, "After what happened, maybe she just wanted a day in."
"Well yeah, but she wasn't in the castle-teria this morning either, which means, she hadn't had any food since..." Alistair looked at the clock, "I don't know, like, 20 hours ago?"
Bunny pursed her lips. She sighed. "Poor Cupid, I- woah!"
Alistair grabbed onto Bunny's arm, steadying her. He furrowed his eyebrows. "Hey," he eyes her up and down, looking for signs of pain, "You okay there?" Bunny nodded slowly. Alistair let go of her and glared at the students that had bumped into Bunny, nearly making her fall to the floor. "Hey!" he yelled at them, throwing his hands in the air, "Be careful!" Bunny touched his arm, eyeing him discerningly. "Alistair... it's okay-"
Alistair rubbed his eyes, "Sorry, sorry-" he let out a groan, "I'm not in the best mood right now, as you can tell."
Bunny nodded, giving him a supporting smile. "It's okay, Alistair, I'm sure Cupid's okay." Alistair nodded back, trying to return her smile. "Yeah," he answered, "I'm sure," he tried to convince himself.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry Bunny!"
Their eyes turned to the voice.
Blondie Lockes was running to them, struggling as she made her way to them with her tall shoes and poofy dress. Alistair scrunched his nose. "What are you wearing?"
Blondie looked down at her dress, letting out a chuckle. "It's nothing, I just have a shoot," she grinned, "There's a new bakery opening downtown, and the owner invited me there, asking me to review their bakery. But get this, they requested-"
Alistair squeezed his eyes shut in frustration. "Okay, okay, I get it, cool."
Blondie took the hint, closing her mouth and pretending to zip it shut. "Sorry," she whispered. She faced Bunny, wincing. "Sorry Bunny, I was in a rush, I didn't see you there." Bunny gave her a smile, shaking her head, "No, don't worry, all's good."
"Come on, Blondie, we're late!" One of Blondie's crews urged her to go. Blondie rolled her eyes, "I'm coming!" she yelled back. She rolled her eyes at them. "Anyways, I have to go now, but let's chat later, okay?"
Alistair's eyes lit up.
Before Blondie could run away from them, Alistair grabbed her arm.
Blondie raised an eyebrow, staring at Alistair in confusion. "W-what is it?"
Alistair let go immediately.
"You're Cupid's dorm mate, right?"
Blondie gave him a look of confusion. "Yes.."
Alistair grinned. "Do you know where she is?"
Blondie's mouth formed an 'o'. "Well yes I do! She left me a note this morning," she looked up and thought, "What did it say again? Sorry, I'm so forgetful-"
"Blondie-"
"Oh yep! She told me that she'll be going to her father's for a few days..." Blondie's tone slowly dropped as her own words sunk into her. "Her father," she mumbled. She snapped her head up to Alistair, "Wait, her father was the one in the recording yesterday, right?" She shook her head in disbelief, "I mean, when I first saw the video, I couldn't believe it! All this time, I thought Eros was this loving person, you know, but it turned out..."
Alistair drowned out her voice.
His mind began to spin.
"Blondie, let's go, now!!"
Blondie stopped her chatter and groaned. "Fine!" she turned to Bunny and Alistair, "Gotta go guys, bye!" Her grin was back, and in a second, she was running to her crew, complaining about her ridiculously tall heels.
Bunny turned to Alistair. She put a hand on his shoulder. "Alistair."
Alistair shook his head, snapping out of his trance. He held Bunny's hand, facing her fully. He leaned closer, his eyes in a frenzy. "Cupid is with her father, she's not safe!" he whisper-yelled. Bunny's eyes widened. She looked unsure of what to say. "Alistair, what do we do?"
Alistair pulled away, his eyes determined. "We need to go to Grimm."
~♡~
Alistair knocked on Grimm's door, Bunny by his side.
Before waiting for a reply, he opened, stepping inside hurriedly.
Grimm opened his mouth, and closed it again. "What is this, Mr. Wonderland? I haven't called you-"
"Cupid's at home."
Grimm tensed.
"What do you mean?"
Alistair rolled his eyes, he took a step forward, leaning his hands on Grimm's table. "Cupid's home, with Eros, Headmaster. Her father must have secretly picked her up last night or something, I don't know."
Headmaster Grimm leaned his chin on his palm, looking like he's in deep thought.
"You have to do something," he said through gritted teeth.
A minute of silence passed.
Grimm leaned back on his chair, a defeated look on his face. He sighed. "I'm afraid I can't do anything, Mr. Wonderland."
Alistair stared at him quizzically. He stayed quiet, "What?"
Grimm looked down at his lap. "I may be the Headmaster, Mr. Wonderland," he turned his chair to face Alistair, "But I am no god."
Alistair shook his head slowly. "You have the power, Headmaster. To put him in jail, to protect your student!" Bunny pulled Alistair back by the arm, "Alistair-"
"No, Headmaster, you've got to do something!" he shouted, "You heard what Cupid said last night, you saw the fear, the utter fear in her eyes by only talking about her father. You HAVE to do something!" he tangled his fingers in his hair, messing it up, "Please," he whispered.
Grimm looked at him with sorry eyes. "I'm sorry," he replied, "But Eros is a god, and I am only human, Mr. Wonderland. People like us... we don't stand a chance. That is why I ought every student to follow their destinies, so we stay in the path made for us, where we are the safest-"
"Enough of all this destiny bullshit, Headmaster!" he exploded. Bunny's jaw dropped, she rubbed his back. "Alistair, I understand-" she stopped herself as she saw his glass-like eyes. He looked like he was going to break. "Cupid had done nothing but help everyone in this damned school, but now, after everything that happened to her, no one bats an eye. No one even cares. What kind of people would do that?" His chest heaved up and down, his throat felt dry.
Alistair gulped. He shook his head.
"I swear," he said slowly, "If anything happens to her, I will not stay still. I will burn this place to the ground if I have to, I swear."
Grimm's eyes softened.
"I'm sorry kid. Wherever she is, I can only hope that she's okay."
