The next day, Cupid woke up with mixed feelings.
She opened her eyes to the sun shining brightly on her face. As she stretched her arms, the events of yesterday coming to her mind. From the fair, to her father, to Alistair in the woods. Cupid sat up on the bed. She put a hand on her head, it was throbbing slightly, her body felt stiff. Cupid's eyes went to Blondie, getting ready in front of the mirror. "Just right," she said to herself. She heard Cupid shuffle on the bed, and she turned. "Cupid, you're awake-" she paused, walking to Cupid, "Oh my, you look a mess!"
Cupid raised her eyebrows. "Really?" her voice was hoarse. Blondie sat in front of her and put her hand on Cupid's forehead. Her mouth dropped, "You're burning!" she crossed her arms, "You're almost never sick, what did you do last night?" Cupid scratched the back of her neck, giving Blondie a guilty smile.
"I stayed out in the rain."
Blondie's jaw opened. "What? The Cupid staying out in the rain? Why would you do that?" her voice was high and demanding. Cupid let out a raspy chuckle, "Alistair." Blondie rolled her eyes, a smile appearing on her face. She stood up from the bed. "I swear, both of you are like Romeo and Juliet." Cupid shook her head, waving her hand dismissively. "It's not like that, he's with Bunny," she said, her voice going down.
Blondie frowned. "Aw, poor you." Cupid looked up at her, she forced out a laugh. "No, no, me and Alistair are just friends." Blondie looked at her with an unbelieving stare. She gave her a nod. "Well, that may be the case but," she shrugged, "Do you want to be more than just friends?"
Cupid's lips parted. She inhaled slowly. "I-" she played with her fingers. Cupid bit her lip and gave Blondie a smile. "No," she answered as she put a smile on her face, eyebrows furrowing incredulously, "No, I don't."
Blondie gave her a look of surprise. "Oh," she said, almost sounding disappointed, "That's nice, I guess." She nodded and shrugged, turning back to the mirror.
Cupid looked down, exhaling.
She wished she was telling the truth.

Cupid didn't know whether she should avoid Alistair or not today.
She sighed as she exited her first class of the day. She didn't pay attention to the lessons, too deep in her thoughts. Cupid wanted to figure out her feelings first before seeing Alistair. She almost hated herself for growing feelings for him.
Everything was nice, everything was perfect between the two of them. They were great friends, but that's it. They loved each other, but not romantically, and that has always been fine. They were perfectly comfortable with each other, and with whatever they had between them. Cupid didn't want anything between them to change, but feelings are hard to bury, she knows that best.
The god of love fails to escape the chains of love.
Cupid scoffed to herself. She closed her eyes, frustrated.
She felt herself hit someone's back.
Cupid quickly opened her eyes, "I'm so sorry-"
A pair of blue eyes behind glasses greeted her.
Dexter Charming.
Dexter had turned to face Cupid. He saw her and his face lit up. "Hey Cupid!"
Cupid let out a breathless laugh.
"Dexter, hi!"
Dexter adjusted his glasses and turned his attention back to Cupid. "Are you okay? Are you sick?" he asked, concerned. Cupid gave him a lopsided smile. "Just a bit unfit today," she replied. Dexter nodded. "We haven't talked for a bit, how are you?" he asked. Cupid smiled and shrugged. "Fine as always." Dexter chuckled. "That's great, where are you heading?" Cupid looked behind him and pointed, "Just my locker."
