Xavier sat on the sturdy tree branch of one of the tallest trees, in his black attire which blended well with his surroundings, he watched as Lord Knox's carriage approached, getting bigger as it got closer.

He had been waiting for Knox's move but didn't know it would be this late at night. He hoped whatever it is will be done before Mr. Hollow appeared. The guards of the Upper House had been stationed all over the area to monitor his moves and they were to wait for his signal, they need to know the person he was working with before they take action.

His thoughts briefly went to Seraphine, he had been watching her closely since the day he dropped her in front of The Pawn. There was nothing out of  ordinary in her daily activities which mostly involves dealing with customers, chatting with Diane and one other lady and also visiting her father's grave.

The sound of a twig breaking pulled his attention to the rustling leaves near the tree he was standing on. He knew the exact location the Upper House guards were, none was stationed that close to him, glancing quickly at the carriage that was still a little bit far from him, he scanned the area again and realised they were not alone.

Thinking quickly of what to do to prevent Knox from changing his mind, the moment when he knew he was being watched, getting to know his partner would be difficult, which was why Xavier needed to silence whoever might have a different plan from his.

He slid of the branch, landing stealthily and using the large leaves to his advantage, he breezed through the trees till he got to the first man hiding behind a tree trunk.

"Who are you?" Xavier whispered in his ear, his hands wrapped around his neck as his fangs extended. It would only take a second to pull his throat out.

The man's eyes bulged in surprised, he hadn't heard a sound of someone being behind him until he heard a whisper, "please, don't kill me" he begged

"I'll rephrase my question, who sent you?"

The human swallowed, brimming with tears, "I'll tell you" as the human realised that Xavier's hand had relax, he seized the opportunity to attempt to strike. Xavier didn't hesitate to tear his throat, as blood splatter across his face, he deftly laid the body quietly on the ground so as not to alert the others.

Blood had soaked his cloth by the time he got to the tenth person, none of them had given up on who sent them, he could hear the carriage loudly which meant it was close by. Before Xavier could rip out the tongue of the man, a loud noise boomed. The man had been fast enough to alert the others.

They both heard the whinny noise of the horse in panic, chaos broke out suddenly, pissed at ruining his plan, Xavier not only pulled out his tongue, he severed all the joints in his limps.

With the box being the most significant part of their plan, he needed to secure it and also ensure Lord Knox was alive, clearing their opponents on the way as he sprinted towards the carriage.

"Make sure he is alive for questioning no matter what" Xavier instructed the lead guard before chasing after the man who now had the box in his possession. Their opponents were obviously using dark magic, that was the only thing that could explain how fast they almost were to vampires. Their speed was way faster than human but couldn't be compared to vampire.

"Hold it right there" Xavier blocked his path, watching the man gasped, his hands were wrapped protectively around the box behind him.

"You'll have to get through me if you want the box"

"Actually, I could just take it without getting through you but there's something I want to know"

The man whirled around when he couldn't see the vampire anymore but heard a whisper "who sent you?"
