Back at the Manor where Xavier deposited the two ladies in separate rooms, he had sent words to their respective parents and guardian on their current location, easing their minds on their well-being.

A soft knock was heard and Herbert entered, he was still wearing the guilty look he had on, feeling he was part of the reason the ladies had been in danger. The guilt had not melted even when he discovered that Xavier had eventually rescued them. "Master Daniel and others are on their way"

"Get a maid nearby to aid her when she wakes up" Xavier turned his attention back to the sleeping form of Seraphine. Remembering they had been in the same position not long ago; she had been on the same bed weeks ago.

Staring down at her, he watched the way her mouth curved in a wisp of a smile while still asleep. Smoothening her hair to bring her more comfort when in truth had become a subconscious habit of his, which he did often to find solace.

Remembering how fear had gripped him when he sighted Seraphine laid on the floor by the demon king; the one man she absolutely shouldn't share the same air with not to talk of being in the same room. That was the second time he had let his emotion slipped and allow fear encroached. The first time had been during his early stage of spending the night with  Mr. Hollow who always pulled him to the darkest ditch and instill fear in him. He had been able to overcome his fear, tightening the leash on his emotion, never allowing fear to surface anymore not until this morning, in the early hour at the dog shelter.

There was no denying that the little human sleeping peacefully on the bed held a special place in his heart. She had manipulated her ways through the core of his bone marrow, her fingers had curled tightly around the strings of his heart. Sighing heavily as he thought of the next line of action now that the demon king knew what Seraphine is.

He needed to act fast so as to protect the sleepy human who had no idea what was to come, she would have to bear the burden that comes to being the possessor of Phemerah's Eyes.

Xavier couldn't wait to see her purple eyes, reaching for her eye lid, he gently pulled one up even though he knew it would cause her a little bit of discomfort. Captured by the purplest shade of purple of her eyes, he anticipated how she would look with a purple iris. It would be a sight to behold, there was no doubt about that.

When Seraphine shook a little for the slight discomfort, he kissed her forehead and lulled her back to sleep by giving her a rhythmic pat on her shoulder while whispering gentle words in her ears.

He checked her wound once again, seeing the good job he had done in dressing the wound, he exited the room as soon as he felt a maid approach.

Confident that Herbert would have instructed the maid on what to do, he barely acknowledged as the maid now, his mind was already on how to keep Damien away from Seraphine, with the help of his friends.

"Where is Daniel?" Xavier asked when he found only Diane and Francis in the study.

"How is Seraphine? Is she still asleep?" Diane asked and he nodded.

The door opened after and Daniel helped Annaliese to a chair, even after the witch insisted that she was fine with the long restful sleep she had. She had given up on trying to decline his help as soon as she realised that he was quite an obstinate vampire.

Sighing with relief that he had finally given her a space to breath, she settled on the long couch, giving Diane a grateful smile for signalling Francis to make Daniel seat with him.

"Sorry, my brother can be quite foolish and stubborn at times" winking at the witch, "how are you feeling?" Diane gave her a comforting squeeze on her knee.

"I'm fine" nodding with an appreciative smile.

"Could you explain in detail what happened?" Francis looked at Xavier, the other two vampires did the same, waiting for an thorough explanation.

Xavier deliberately skipped the part where he was unavailable during the night when Seraphine came for help as he recounted the whole story. Pausing in between whenever Diane exclaimed or Daniel spewed curses about the atrocious activity towards the animals, Francis was the only one who had patiently listened, digesting the news with little reaction.

Xavier knew the werewolf was trying to connect some things together, he could see the glints of deep thought swirling in his eyes, while he knew the impatient twins would react the way they did, he also knew Francis might take the time to sieve his words.

"How in hell has Damien been visiting the town without anyone knowing?" Daniel spoke in disbelief.

"He comes through a portal, he's been transporting back and forth using a portal. He must have a witch working for him" Annaliese replied.

Diane turned to Annaliese, "how did you and Seraphine meet?"

"I didn't plan to meet her. Sometimes, I feel an uncanny urge or receive direction to do something or run errands and that night was no different. I was supposed to wait with a carriage for someone  who would need my help and it turned out to be Seraphine"

She didn't bother to answer the questioning look on Diane's face regarding who usually send her on errands.

"I don't even want to think of what that demonic Damien would have done to them if you hadn't rescue them on time"

Annaliese shivered when she thought of the plan the bastard had for her, she balled her hand in a fist, recalling how his men stripped her of her clothes. A warm hand covered her fist, "are you all right?" The soothing voice spoke.

All conversations had paused, as Daniel asked her, he took off his coat and placed it over her shoulder.

"Thank you" snuggling more into the warm coat, she nodded for them to continue.

"Have you heard about the rumour going round the town this morning?" Francis spoke.

Everyone directed their gaze to the window that had its drapes drawn, revealing the bright sky which had the faintest shade of lavender in it, although the shade was already fading.

Diane spoke, "yes, we heard some of the human servants telling the others this morning that the Eyes have surfaced"

"And when we got here as well, I overheard some servants saying some men had formed a group and set to search all households and forest for the person with the eyes. It's going to be chaotic for the next couple of days" Daniel explained.

The whole town was going to be restless for days, since everyone would be fighting to get their hands on it. Xavier sighed as he thought of how far the rumour would get.

"Our guards at the pack house said something similar, in fact they claimed to have seen ray of purple light shoot up in the sky" Francis stared at Xavier, "and while I was coming, I happened to pass by the shelter you just mentioned and I could swear that the colour in the sky was darker than the rest. As if that area had been exactly where it happened"

"Did you see anything of sort when you were captured?" Diane asked Annaliese.

"That brings me to what I wanted to tell you but before then, there's something else you need to know" Xavier brought out the broken horn he took from Seraphine.

"Is that what I think it is?" Daniel scoffed wide eye.

Annaliese along with the others stared at the horn before she softly spoke, "isn't that the demon king's horn, nod your head if I'm correct"

As if they had rehearsed, two heads nodded at once.

"Oh Seraphine, what have you done!"  Annaliese thought

"Hold on, are you saying Seraphine did that?" Diane pointed at the broken horn on the table, waiting for the witch to explain.

"Did I voice my thoughts?" Annaliese's eyes widened

"Yes, you did. Did she?"

With an unwavering gaze at Xavier, Francis spoke without mincing words, "yes, she did" the whole place had gone silent as Diane sucked in her breath but the werewolf continued, answering Diane's question of how it was possible for a human to be capable of that.

"Because Seraphine was the possessor of Phemerah's Eyes"

Francis indeed had decerning eyes.
