The face which was filled with horror few days ago after Xavier told her who Simeon was and the atrocity he committed was now replaced with pleasure and calm as she sat under the orange tree, basking in its sweet and acidic fragrance while embraced in the cool breeze that rustled its leaves.
Seraphine for the first time she had been visiting her father's grave felt less burdened and more of inner peace and resolution. Happy that she had been able to clear her father's name, the pang of sadness which always accompany her whenever she visits was long gone.
She was filled with gratitude towards her friends, especially Xavier who went over and beyond to ensure Simeon was brought to justice. After an investigation was conducted by the Upper House to ensure he was the actual killer of the Jefferson arson, courtesy of the witness who was still alive to recount his story.
Simeon was also pinned to be the main orchestrator of falsifying evidence against her father, they were able to fish out the rest of his accomplice, although one was already dead but the other two were still alive and they confessed to their crime.
Xavier had convinced the Upper House members for Simeon's punishment to be more brutal, although Seraphine had distanced herself from the man when the town's consensus was to burn him alive at the townsquare, she had only seen him for the last time when he sought her out, wanting to be forgiven.
Her heart tightened as she looked down at the man who had made her moments with her father short-lived. As much as Seraphine knew she wasn't one to hold a grudge for a long time, she was also not so perfect that she would forgive him that easily, not that she had any intention of doing any harm to him, but she would need to learn to forgive him.
Seeing the pitiful state he was in as a result of some broken bones which had not healed and the remorse on his face, she had only nodded. Simeon had insisted on visiting Patrick's grave to show his last respect and seek forgiveness as well.
Afterwards, Seraphine had closed off anything related to him and his punishment, despite that, she still was unable to control people's discussion or gossip concerning the type of punishment he would receive and where it would be meted.
Since everyone had obviously gone to witness the end of Simeon's life at the townsquare, business had been slow, she had used the opportunity to visit the grave. Deciding to be less chatty unlike other days, she only sat and took solace in the peace and quiet which surrounded her.
She must have dozed off for a while because the next thing she knew was being tapped on the shoulder. Her disoriented state was soon cleared by Xavier's face, "when did you get here?" She asked.
"Just now" he pulled her to a stand, dusting off the dirt on her pinafore, "remember that I was supposed to take you to one more place the day you visited the clearing?"
She squinted her eyes, trying to recall their discussion the day they were suspended midair to admire the scenery of the clearing below.
"Now I do"
"Good, today is the perfect day to take you there"
Leaving no room for objection, he pulled her along, he didn't let go off her hand till they got into the carriage.
"Where are we going?" Looking forward to their mysterious destination. She had no doubt that she was going to like it.
"Just wait, we will be there soon" he assured.
"Here we go again, being a mysterious gentleman" Seraphine scoffed, looking at the vampire who folded his arms with his eyes closed, he seemed to be enjoying the rhythmic ride of the carriage.
"Life itself is mysterious "
"Do you remember the night you visited me at the station and you promised to abandon all charges against me on two conditions?"
"I do"
"What was the second condition? You only mentioned the first condition."
"I know, I will tell you when it's time"
"How would you know if I would honour the second condition?"
Xavier gently pulled her to him, making her share the same space with him. Seraphine's eyes widened in surprised by his abrupt action.
"Let me see your eyes” he removed her spectacle to see that the lightest shade of lavender still remain, if closely checked.
"Any changes?"
"None" Seraphine was also lost in the green pool of Xavier's eyes, devoting her attention to his eyes, the same way he was doing to her.
The erotic voice of Xavier penetrated into her heart, her lower stomach did things to her which she couldn't explain but she sure enjoyed whatever feeling it was, the rush of pleasure and heat which overwhelmed her body as Xavier's breath fanned her face made the colour of her cheek reddened.
Xavier smirked as he realised the effect he was having on her, lightly brushing her smooth cheek, "your cheeks has almost taken the same colour of a red rose, I wonder why" holding onto her arms to stop her from fleeing back to her seat.
The more Seraphine tried to wiggle her way our of Xavier's grip to hide her shyness, the more he tightened his arms around her, closing the space between them.
"I guess my reputation of being a magician was quite credible, I've been told on many occasions that I have what it takes to change the colouration of women's cheeks from white to red"
Seraphine scoffed, "don't be so cocky, you might be pleasing to the eyes but your magic doesn't work on all females, not me by the way" grateful for her flexible and small stature, she successfully wiggled her way out when he relaxed his grip.
"I wouldn't say that at this very moment when you could almost pass for a tomato" he pointed to the window for her to see her reflection.
With the strong urge to erase the cocky smirk off his face, Seraphine smiled sweetly at him through the window reflection, "I could also be a magician if I want to"
"Really? And what trick could you possibly pull out of your little magic hat?" Captivated by her statement, the rush of pleasure on wanting to see what she was up to, made him seat straight, smiling in satisfaction to see this side of her.
"I could make that smirk of yours turn to something else" she grinned. Taking off her scarf and hair band, she let loose her long full hair, swaying them sideways, she had seen Felicity do it several times to know how it is done. Felicity had claimed that it was one of the ways of making men go crazy.
Xavier couldn't have guessed Seraphine's next course of action, dumbfounded to see her unbuckle one of the straps which held the pinafore together on the right shoulder. He watched as she unbuttoned the three buttons of her blouse, showing milky white skin, if Xavier raised his head a little higher, he would see the valley between the two mounds of her breasts.
Unknown to Seraphine that the effect of her trick had gone beyond what she thought, she was only focused on how Xavier's face had gone lax, astounded by her bold action.
Xavier's restraint almost broke the moment he saw her skin, he held on to his seat, trying his best not to grab her and kiss the hell out of her. Seeing her looking like a seductive angel and an innocent temptress at the same time want him to almost whisk her away to where they would not be disturbed and have his wicked way with her.
Seraphine swallowed when she saw Xavier's eyes, gone was the forest green hue which was now replaced by crimson.
"oh, What have I done!?"
