Seraphine parted ways with her friends few hours later, after engaging in gossips with the girls. It's been long she visited her father, so she informed the old man to manage the shop for a while, with the promise to be back early enough for him to take his evening stroll.

The Lancaster brothers were in town, they had come to join their parents and sister who had been there before them. Wanting to enjoy the afternoon sun which was the first sunshine after a long winter season.

It was the start of spring; new and beautiful things will be displayed in most of the stalls in the market, wanting to feed their eyes and bask in the sun, the brothers decided to accompany their sister and her friend, Priscilla who wanted to get their hands on excellent fabrics for the new season.

The rich laughter of some ladies made one of the brothers turned to that direction. Two ladies were facing his direction while the third was backing him, another giggle escaped from the one with the long black shiny hair whose face was still hidden. He would have thought she was a maid by her choice of grey pinafore, if not for the interaction between the ladies.

Feeling the need to put a face to the lovely giggle, he hesitated, "what are you starring at, brother?" Leonard Lancaster playfully tapped his brother's shoulder.

Lucas had given up on expressing his displeasure at his elder brother's constant jabs. He had complained to his parents and warned him about hitting him at the end of every sentence he made but Leonard had turned a deaf ear to him.

Lucas being the younger male had been the recipient of his brother's hit whenever the servants were not present. Their sister, Mabel had always been careful not to be in a close range with him whenever she was talking.

"Nothing" as he was about to turn to where his sister and her friend were, Leonard threw his arm around his shoulder, "isn't that the girl with the weird eyes who hurt Mabel years ago?"

Lucas lifted his head, wiggling himself out from his brother's arm to have a good look at the girl. He sucked in his breath as the girl whom he badly wanted to see her face turned out to be her.

"Mabel, isn't she the same girl who hurt you back then" Leonard called out to his sister.

Nodding her head vigorously, "I knew it. I knew even if I was too small that I might have mistaken her face for someone else, you would definitely remembered her. She denied it"

Priscilla listened to their conversation which had piqued their interest once again while watching Seraphine as she parted ways with Diane and her other friend.

"She denied being the one, saying Mabel mistook her for someone else" Priscilla narrowed her eyes at Seraphine who was unaware of being the subject of discussion as she headed to the opposite direction.

"With that scary eyes of hers, no one would fail to recognise her" Leonard spoke.

"That's what was surprising, her eyes were as normal as any other person when she showed us"

"Really? She showed you" Determined to see for himself if it was true, Leonard spoke up, "I'll be the judge of that." Walking fast to catch up to her.

Lucas ran after him, he grabbed his arm, "what are you doing? Don't you think it is unwise to approach her for an incident that should be long forgotten?"

"Who are you to tell me what is wise and unwise?" Knocking his arms off, he faced the two ladies that had caught up to them, "I'm going after her, who is with me?"

Priscilla would have objected if Xavier was around but she had seen Daniel that morning who told her that Xavier was out of town. Besides, the girl was alone now, no one would suspect them of anything, "I'm with you but first I think we need to follow her"

"Who knows where she is going all alone" Mabel sneered, "perhaps a meeting with her lover" making she and Priscilla giggle.

Lucas stare in bewilderment at his siblings, "what you're doing is wrong"

"Oh don't you act all innocent, if I could remember vividly, you compared her eyes to that of hyenas' , years ago" Mabel blurted.

A guilty feeling settled in his stomach, he had realised later that Leonard had been the one who orchestrated everything, he could never forget how the young girl cried that day, insisting on being innocent while shedding tears.

"An action I regret till this day, if only I knew it was our dear brother who lured us to that building. I shouldn't have called her that and I'll apologise as soon as possible." he admitted, "but you don't know yet if she was really the one"

Not in anyway remorseful, "Do whatever you like but I'm going after her" exhausting the little patience he had, Leonard left them and quietly followed Seraphine who had created a good distant between them.

Lucas was the only one with a clear head and rational mind decided to follow them, he would look for a way to restrain them from doing anything crazy to the girl.

His heart tightened, thinking of the poor girl his brother had apparently chosen as his new target.

Seraphine walked briskly, clueless to the fact that she was being followed, her thoughts were divided into two; one was thinking about Xavier, wondering when he would be back while the other was on visiting her father quickly then go back to the shop to relieve the old man.

She stopped at the usual nearby garden to pick some flowers, she inhaled the fragrance of the chrysanthemum flower as she walked along the path that led to the grave. The acidic scent of the unripe oranges kissed her nose even before she saw the round green fruit hanging on the tree that served as her father's headstone.

"I'm here pa." Taking her position under the tree, she placed the flowers on the based of the tree which marked his grave and settled beside it, leaning against the tree.

Taking off her spectacle to enjoy the feel of the breeze on her face, she opened her eyes when she heard the rustling of leaves not far away.

She returned her attention back to her father, adjusting her position and started her usual monologue with her father.

Priscilla kicked Lucas to take his hand off her mouth. Lucas had covered her mouth quickly when she wanted to scream the moment she saw Seraphine took off her spectacle.

She had never seen someone with a white iris before which had frightened her.

"Easy," retuning her glare with that of his own, "I was only trying to prevent you from disturbing her private moment with her father" Lucas explain, rubbing the place her leg had kicked.

"Quiet!" Leonard whispered while staring at Seraphine, "she would've been more beautiful if only her eyes were normal" he mocked.

They had all hidden behind the shrubs to avoid being seen, "so she was really the one from your childhood?" Priscilla scoffed, thinking of a better way to humiliate her.

"How was she able to add colour to the eyes that night" Mabel wondered.

"Can we go, now that you've found out she's the one?"

"Of course" Priscilla smiled sweetly, signalling to Leonard that she had a plan. She pulled Leonard backward, allowing the other two siblings to go first so they can hatch their plan properly.

Perhaps if Priscilla had not been obsessed with humiliating Seraphine, she would have questioned why Lucas who was supposed to be human had such a hard grip on a her; a vampire.
