Seraphine tossed to the other side, squeezing her eyes as the ray of sunlight assaulted face, she squinted her eyes to study her environment. Realising she was back at Xavier's Manor, the exact room she was in when she lost consciousness the other day, she breathed out a sigh of relief.
Her eyes caught the vanity mirror across the room where shade of purple iris stared back at her, tossing the blanket aside, she rushed forward to examine her eyes. Her heart skipped a beat when she heard a voice.
"Ma'am, are you all right?" A brief knock came after the voice, that must be one of the maids, she thought. "can I come in?" The door knob rattled, indicating Seraphine only needed to give her consent and she would come in.
"Give me some minutes, you'll come in soon" Seraphine called out, leaning against the vanity mirror with relief, the back of her hand met an object, looking down she saw a new spectacle. Her heart warmed at Xavier's thoughtfulness.
Staring back at her reflection, she was dumbfounded at the new iris looking right back at her. Seraphine could see the difference and the new energy that came with it. She was in awe at the vibrant colour of purple which somehow perfectly matched her face.
Unable to explain how different she actually felt, except feeling refreshed, her eyes had been the only thing which had captured her attention until she felt a slight pain behind her neck.
Reaching for it, she could feel her wound had been dressed, recalling that Annaliese had been in a worse condition than her, she quickly put on her glasses and opened the door.
Smiling as she recognised the maid, she was the same person that tended to her the last time she was here, "could you take me to where Master Xavier is, please?" She had so many questions to ask him.
The maid gave her a shy smile after recognising her as well, "I will but master ordered that I assist you in getting you into a new clothes, but I would suggest you have a bath first" she spoke politely.
Seraphine looked down finally to check out her cloth, agreeing that it would be inappropriate to meet Annaliese wearing a torn and dirty cloth, she took a sniff at her cloth and scrunched her face, "you're right but we have to hurry"
Letting her lead her into the bath as soon as she filled it, Seraphine was careful to ensure the maid was occupied with arranging her dress before taking off her spectacle.
She was once again in awe as she looked at how different things around her looked. Her vision had become even clearer, an idea came into her mind. Quietly, she moved the footstool she saw by the corner to the little opening which served as a window that allowed light in. Moving as quietly as possible, she climbed and looked through the window. She sucked in her breath as she stared in amazement at how clear she could see things at a distance.
With her enhanced vision, she perfectly saw the bird nestling on the tree at the clearing Xavier had taken her to as if the tree was nearby. Her gaze caught a fish in the stream as it swam by. Gasping at the miracle of the scene before her, something an ordinary human wouldn't have been able to see.
The rustling of clothes and sounds of footsteps alerted her and jerked her back, "is everything all right? Do you need my help?"
Quickly, she stripped and jumped onto the bath, "I'm fine. I'm almost through"
"May I know your name?" Wishing to start a conversation to assure her that she was fine.
"I'm Pauline"
"What a beautiful name, I'm Seraphine"
She didn't need to see Paulina's face to know she was smiling, she could easily hear it in her voice, "thank you. Everyone knows your name ma'am"
