CHAPTER 8: OH NO, IT'S YOU

Tom's view:

I'm debating to myself about whether I should have asked for two weeks vacation then I would not be here to babysit. I have a bad feeling about this. I don't want to be a babysitter to some pop princess.

A pop star is probably spoiled, has to have things her way, makes all this drama. With everyone worshipping and bowing down to her, I'm sure she has an ego and an attitude. And I am not the guy to be a babysitter to a girl like that.

Adam calls me into his office.

Booker said, "Hanson he's going to give you the talk about keeping your hands to yourself."

I said, "I swear one of these days Booker, you keep popping off I'm going to shut you up."

I go into Adam's office.

Adam said, "Tom I know you're not thrilled about this case. But I'm asking you as a favor to me to do it. This is a huge honor for the mayor to pick this department. He has faith in us, I don't want to let him down. I know you don't know who she is, but she is loved, and respected in the music industry, and by her fans, and if something happens to her on our watch. You understand."

I said, "yes sir. I'll do my best. I don't like being a babysitter. Or having to have some girl live with me."

Adam said, "well I hope that they find out who this is, and take care of him, soon and it won't be that long that you will have to do it. But I appreciate you stepping up to do this. I think that you are the best man for the job, all the others are fans of her, and I think could let that get in the way, let them get distracted. Since you don't like her music, I think you will be levelheaded. Also, she was worried about being hit on, and with those guys, I just feel you are the best choice."

I said, "yes sir."

We go back to the others, and I'm sitting at my desk. The door opens and in comes the girl who hit my car. Damn it is her. I stand up. 

Wait she has a dog. That wasn't part of the deal. I'm not saying that I hate dogs, I don't. But I never had one, and I know that they are a lot of work. Just great. I hope it doesn't go to the bathroom in the house. That is all I need.

Judy is all excited and hurries over to her saying "I am so happy to meet you I'm Judy, I'm a big fan of yours, and also of your manager."  Judy then laughs. I kind of smirk because it's funny she's so excited.

Alyssa said, "hi Judy, it's so nice to meet you."  She shook her hand.

Judy said, 'The honor is mine, I love all of your music. You have the best voice."

Alyssa said, "Thank you that is so sweet of you. Judy this is Jordan." 

Jordan said, "hi."  He shook her hand.  He said, "nice to meet you."

She looked like she was going to pass out.  She was speechless. That is a first.

Booker and Doug and Harry are pushing each other trying to go next. I stand there and watch them.

Booker pushed his way by Doug, and said, "Officer Dennis Booker at your service ma'am."

He held out his hand, and then gave her this goofy smile.

She said, "Hello Officer Dennis Booker."  She shook his hand.

He said, "I am a big fan of your music. Your voice, and you are just beautiful sweetheart."

She blushed. Damn don't tell me she thinks Booker is hot. I'm not going to be able to handle that.

Doug said, "Officer Doug Penhall at your service ma'am. And I want you to know that anything you need all you have to do is ask."
