CHAPTER 54: HURT FEELINGS

                                                                                   TOM'S VIEW

Alyssa has almost made herself sick the closer we get to her performance. Maybe I let her down, by not saying anything to Jordan.  I asked her again and she begged me not to, so I haven't.

We are headed home from the airport, and I thought it might cheer her up some if they had a welcome home party for her at my place. 

Adam, Judy, Doug, Harry, Booker, my mom, Jordan should be there now. 

We walked in and when she saw them she was so surprised but happy.

Judy and my mom went all out, with the food, and a welcome home banner.

All the guys wanted hugs from her, of course seeing her hug Booker almost makes me sick.

Then Judy whisked her off with my mom to the kitchen. I guess the girls are going to eat in the kitchen, with us guys eating in the living room.

Things were going okay until the girls came back into the living room.

Adam had asked them to come back, so we could go over the plans for next week.

Of course Alyssa looked almost as white as a ghost when Jordan asked Adam to go over the plans that they had.

I wish she would just tell Jordan she doesn't want to perform. It's not worth her getting sick.

Jordan explained how he is going to have security there, plus Adam arranged for off duty police unit to be there in the crowd, at the red carpet, and then even some swat officers up in the balcony. 

Adam did a video call with the captain of the swat unit and they were going to have their officers in the balcony to scan the audience, from different views, and would not be having their weapons on them where people could see.  They would be able to talk through ear pieces to all the officers that will be in and around the audience.

Jordan said he did discuss this with the people in charge, but they agreed that it would be best to keep this under wraps, to not alarm anyone.

But what Alyssa did next totally shocked me.

She said, "Jordan, Adam, I have been really thinking about how to do this. I mean with Tom being my date. I don't want Tom to face any kind of fall out or ruin things for him so I've decided."

What the hell is she going to say? Is she going to say she doesn't want me to take her , she doesn't want me to be her date? Did I do something to upset her?

I'm panicking now. I will literally be sick if she wants Dennis to be her date.

Before she can even say another word, I said, "Alyssa it's all settled I'm your date for the night."

I'm trying to ignore the chuckles that I'm hearing, coming from Doug, Harry, and Booker. Not even going to look at them.

Alyssa looks at me, and said, "I know Tom. That's not what I was going to say."

I said, "okay sorry I just wanted to make that clear."

More chuckles from the guys, and this time I hear a girl's laugh, Judy of course.

Jordan said, "Alyssa continue please?"

Alyssa said, "Tom is an undercover cop. He has been one for 3 years, and I don't want to mess up any cases that he was on, or mess up any future cases, and so I've decided that we just can't let him go as himself. Not to mention this guy wants to kill Tom."

I'm not sure what she is even getting at, and it feels like I'm getting punched in the stomach.

Adam said, "what have you come up with?"
