                                                                                         ALYSSA'S VIEW:

Tom had a meeting with Adam and Jordan, so I went with him.

Adam thought that the guy did give up on me, but still wanted Tom on the case. But that Tom could start working on other cases. Not going to class, but working behind the scenes.

He could work from the station. And Judy said she had some vacation days coming up, so if Tom wanted she could take his place during the day and us have a girl day, and he could come to the station to work.

Tom rolled his eyes at her and said, "Thanks alot Jude, I think I'm getting sold out."

Jordan wanted assurances that they were not going to just have the case closed and me without protection, until this guy was caught.

Adam said that he would keep Tom on the case, that the FBI had some leads, after watching video surveillance at post offices in all the towns around the state where the letters came from.

It was early Thursday morning. 1:30 a.m.

I was woken up by Jake.

If you have ever had a sick dog, throwing up, that is not the sound that you want to wake up to, especially when you are in bed.

I hurried and lifted Jake up and then put a towel down for him.

Poor Jake, had it coming out both sides. And throwing up non stop.

He hasn't been sick but maybe a couple times, and this time it was constant, and he was crying, like he was in pain.

I ran into Tom's room, not even knocking.

I shouted "Tommy."

He jumped up. I felt bad because he was asleep, and I startled him.

He said, "Alyssa are you okay?"

I said, "no I'm sorry to wake you, but it's Jake. He's sick. And it's really bad."

Tom followed me to my bedroom.

He bent down, and petted him. Jake looking at him, but crying.

I said, "Tom he's in really bad pain. I'm scared."

Tom said, "Has he been sick like this before?"

I said, "No. I mean he's thrown up before, when he ate some chocolate that Rob had left on the table, but he really hasn't been sick much at all."

Tom said, "I'm sorry. I don't know anything about dogs, when they are sick. I don't know what to do."

I said, "I think my vet has an emergency number. I could call that and see if we can take him in."

Tom said, "Here you sit with him, try to comfort him, and I'll make the call. Just give me the number."

I said, "I have it in my phone under the vet. I mean the vet's office, you have to call that and then on the recording get the emergency number."

Tom took my phone. I knelt down and Jake got on my lap. He was not throwing up, but he was crying.

I said, "Tommy oh my God."

Tom looked at me. He knelt by me. I said, "Look he's struggling to breathe. I'm so scared."

I was in tears. Tom said, "I'm sorry Alyssa. But let's try and not panic. I'm sure the vet will be able to help us."

Tom called the emergency number.

He said, 'This is Tom Hanson, um I'm calling for my girlfriend Alyssa Jamison, her dog Jake is one of your patients. I'm sorry to bother you so early in the morning, but Jake woke her up and he's throwing up, he's struggling to breathe, he's in pain. I don't know what to do. Is there anyway that you could come down to the office now?"
