The next morning they all returned to college. They were summoned by Professor Morrison about the mysterious symbol. Sam, Karina, and Dean were in different rows of seats in front of the projector screen with the professor with a pointer stick in his hand, leaving Huntress in wondersome that she was living in educational experience.
"You know, identifying this scrawl was no day at the beach. Lesser scholars would have crumbled."
Sam asked, "Professor... the symbol?"
"Yeah, yeah. It's ancient, regional. Very difficult to identify, but I managed to find a match." He flipped through the pictures in the slides, showing the ancient sculpture and drawings. "It's a variation of a symbol associated with the Greek pantheon, the Temple of the Goddess Harmonia. According to myth, the coupling of Harmonia and Ares, the God of War, produced the Amazons."
Sam repeated, "The Amazons?"
Dean asked, "Like Wonder Woman?"
"No, like-- like a tribe of warriors. They actually existed. The comic books--they're just silly preversions. The symbol-- I believe it originated with the Amazons. Pictographs meant to pay homage to Harmonia-- occult talismans, if you will. They had an exclusively female culture. No use for men whatsoever, except procreation."
Karina hummed impressively while nodding her head as she listened more, "All the vics were male."
"So you said-- with this symbol carved in their chests."
Sam finished his thoughts, "With hands and feet cut off."
"Now, that is interesting."
"Got our attention," muttered Dean.
"After they were impregnated, they killed the male--first cutting off certain body parts."
Sam, Dean, and Karina looked at each other before they left the classroom. They returned back to the motel, researching about the myth, and trying a way to form a plan to kill Amazons. The twin beds were filled with dusty boxes of Bobby's lores, research, and mythology. One of them was searching through them while the other two were sitting on the table together. One was focusing on the laptop while another one was sharpening their blades.
"I know Bobby's got a Grecian encyclopedia of weird in here. I saw it last time I was looking through this stupid..." Dean was coughing by the dust that he cleaned the book away, then he looked at Sam and Karina. "Would it kill him to have a system?"
"He did have a system... in his head," said Karina.
Dean took another sip of the flask, then he asked Sam. "You got anything?"
Sam was looking at the screen from his laptop, "Yeah. there's this whole crazy side to Amazon lore that Professor Morrison didn't even mention."
Dean received a book in his hands before sitting down on the bed, "That's 'cause he doesn't believe in it, which is a real handicap when you're trying to deal with it."
"Right. Apparently, there was this long, bloody war. The Amazon population was decimated, so they made a bargain with Harmonia to replenish their ranks and make them stronger."
"Well, throwing men through the walls is more convincing." Karina sarcastically grinned at Sam, then she moved aside with another blade to sharp. "What else?"
"Well, basically they became more than human. Harmonia turned them into monsters."
"Can you kill them like humans? Or is there some kind of trick?" asked Dean.
"Doesn't say. No idea. I guess it could go either way. Well, Ariel's blade might do the trick since it has a God-like powers that balanced them." Karina nodded along before she sharpened another one, then he continued on, "The lore says they reproduced quickly--as in, after mating, they gave birth within 36 hours. The babies grew incredibly fast, then the aging process became normal. Which is one way to make an army, I guess. The mating cycle is every two years. They send out all the women who have reached child-bearing age."
