39. Doing it right

Kaiman couldn't wait any longer.

He and another servant had to do clean the corridors the next day. For now, it was time to get some sleep. For the lizard man an agonizing task, how can he do this while his best friend is in danger? His pillow was already in holes, after moving around, feeling tense. Even when his eyes had finally given in and his mind forced him to sleep, his nightmares do always have a way to wake him again. Especially when it is the same dream over and over, Nikaido changing the sides, becoming a magic user and lives on the side of her partner. The minute she attacks Kaiman, he wakes up, hoping that this fight they had in church may never happen again.

My nightmares aren't too far off from his.

I seem to fear, that I had to fight Kaiman one day...even kill him. At least I had my own guest room, where no one hears me scream. After the fifth time I was sick and tired of the images, getting up. My new uniform was greeting me from across the room on a mannequin, while the notes are lying on my night table. He sure must be a high ranked sorcerer, since his schedule is always filled with meetings. His whole life is completely booked; doesn't he ever take a day off? Going through the papers, I realized at how much I had to do. Another servant gave me a booklet, of all the stuff a servant has to do. Normally it is only one chapter, depending on the servant's position. But because I had to do all of it, I had to read it entirely form from start to finish, no chapter to skip. En didn't expect me to do it right on the first time, but I shall improve quickly from day to day.

Too my surprise, he won't kill me for small mistakes.

Although he said that he would, it never came. The first morning was the worst. Once I was done putting on my new uniform and mask, I hid the booklet under my shirt. Underneath I had a pair of short leggings on; there I could store my possessions, like the devil cards as well as the booklet. I wasn't aware that it was a good thing not to sleep on the first night, since one servant had to come into my room and check it for anything that might be useful to escape. That reminds me of a check up in a prison. That sorcerer doesn't trust me just yet.

Inside his bed chamber, I had to ring a bell as an alarm clock.

The man in red opened his eyes, greeting me kindly. According to the booklet, I had to get his clothes for the day, depending on what kind of meetings he has to go to. Today is one with his partner and another for business, for this it has to be a suit. I jumped, as he clapped his hands together, "You have been reading the book...good." Nodding slowly, without looking in his direction, I got the suit out. Before the dress up, En gets served his breakfast. For that, the kitchen servants are sending t the meals to the door, where I take it to the sorcerer. While he eats, the suit gets on a mannequin, getting cleaned with a brush and the shoes cleaned.

"Impressive, not one day and you already getting the hand of it."

I nodded again, "...I try...sorry!" I forgot the rule, not to speak without permission. The man chuckled, "As my only servant, you can speak whenever you wish, as long as it is appropriate."

"Yes sir...thank you sir..."

"En..." he said out loud, "...you call me by my name, understood?"

Not of make him angry, I bowed deeply, "Yes En!"

During the dress up, I was blushing badly. For him, it was nothing new to be seen like that from a female. The entire time, he watched me, if I made the right thing. Getting the suit on, had also a routine I had to follow. The last thing left was his accessories and tie. Unfortunately, I found no rules for the tie.

"En Sir?"

He sighted, "Just En will do. What is it?"

"About the tie...which one do I..."

"That is up to you" he said. Reminding me of the meetings for today, I shall choose one that will look good on him. I decided for the blood red tie, with the mushroom patterns at the end. En didn't even move an inch, as I touched his skin around his neck. I didn't like the way I was so close to him, his gaze made me nervous.

"Got choice, I like it."

He went over to his mirror, looking at himself from all angles, "Very good. Now why do I have for today?"

Getting the paper out, I read it out loud, "Your first meeting is at 1pm with Mr. Goban for the restaurant, afterwards is the inspection of the garden party for your cousin's birthday..." It felt like it would never end this list, till I read the last meeting, "...and around 10pm is your meeting with your partner Nikaido." My hands trembled at reading the name, not aware that she is here.

En seems to be pleased, clapping his hands, "Excellent work so far...let's see how you manage the rest of today."
