Chapter 70

Y/n's POV

Wendy and I continued making our way through the cave route I picked before the ground started shaking. "What's going on?" Wendy asked.

"Someone's releasing a ton of magic power. Can't tell who though." I said, steadying myself on the cave wall. After a minute or so the person releasing all the magic power stopped and the island stopped shaking. We continued making our way through the cave before eventually reaching a point where the cave opened up and we saw a couple of the other teams gathered there. "Hey, looks like some of Fairy Tail's youngest have made it." Mom said, looking at Wendy and I. I smiled at mom as I looked around seeing Happy, Gajeel, Levy, Cana, Gray, Loki and dad sitting around waiting for everyone else to finish. "Guess we were the last ones." I joked. Mom nodded before walking over and hugging me. "You still did amazing." Mom said. I smiled before i heard someone walking over to us. I turned and looked seeing Gramps walking up to the group that had formed. "Alright, I believe all our winners are here now." Gramps said.

"Oh yeah." Mom agreed. 

"Well... In that case these are the results thus far." Gramps started. He turned to look at mom and Cana who looked proud. "Cana and Lucy defeated Freed and Bickslow in combat. Nicely done ladies." Garmps said. 

"They beat Freed?" Gray asked. I smiled happy to hear that mom and Cana beat Bickslow and Freed. "Natsu and Happy surmounted the obstacle known as Gildarts. Good Job!" Gramps congratulated. Gray freaked out again when Gramps mentioned dad defeateing Gildarts before I realized that it was probably Gildarts' magic power that we sensed when the island shook. " Levy and Gajeel along with Y/n and Wendy choose the two serenity routes. Weren't you two teams lucky." Gramps said, smiling at us. 

"Well I think it's sucky!" Gajeel shouted.

"Gray and Loki defeated Mest in combat. Way to go boys." Gramps said.

"Juvia didn't even make it through the first round?" Gray asked. Gramps let out a groan as Gray asked why he was making a creepy face with it. "Unfortunately luck wasn't on Juvia and Lisanna's side today. The were led to she who knnows no mercy." Gramps said.

"That sucks." Gray said. I nodded in agreement, but thought about how my fight would've turned out with big sis had I taken her on. "Elfman and Evergreen aren't here either. What do you think happened to them?" Mom asked, looking at Cana.

"Well by process of elimination, the only other route.... Mira Jane." Cana and mom said, auntie Mira's name at the same time. 

"That makes sense, I doubt I'd have an easy time trying to beat her." I said. 

"I feel sorry for them." Levy said.

"I could take her, but those two stood no chance." Gajeel said. As He was saying that I smelled Elfman's scent getting closer before hearing him speak up. "Don't count us out yet. Didn't think we could beat my big sis, did ya?" Elfman asked.

"Guess who's moving on to round two?" Evergreen asked.

"My word." Gramps said, looking at Evergreen and Elfman. 

"How did you win?" Happy asked. Elfman went quiet and looked away from us. "A real man doesn't brag about his wins." Elfman said. I was confused by what they meant, but also knew not to ask. "Back to the trial." Gramps said, getting our attention again. We all turned back to face him so we could hear about our next trial. "As it stands there are six teams left. "Natsu and Happy, Gray and Loki, Levy and Gajeel, Cana and Lucy, Elfman and Evergreen, and Y/n and Wendy. Congratulations on passing the first round. Now that everyone's here let's move onto the second round." Gramps announced. Happy went to check on dad before dad stood up and pointed at everyone. "Gray! Cana! Levy! Elfman! Y/n! Only one of us is going ot become an S-class and that's gonna be me!" Dad shouted. I smirked and looked at dad as everyone accepted his challenge of becoming the first one to become S-class. "I'm all fired up now." Dad said, smiling with his arm on fire. Everyone's partners were cheering them on before Wendy grabbed my hand and tightened her grip on it. "I'll do everything I can to help you, Zuli." Wendy said, smiling at me.

"Thanks, glad to hear that from you, Celestia." I said. 

"Listen I'm about to give you instructions for the second part. The next stage of the S-class trial starts now." Gramps said. Everyone quieted down and looked at Gramps so he could explain what our next trial would be. "To pass the next round, you must search the island for the grave of Fairy Tail's founder. Mavis Vermillion." Gramps announced.

"I forgot she was buried here." Mom said.

"And we've got to find where that is." Cana said.

"Come on, Gramps. That's almost too easy." Dad said.

"You have six hours to find it, no excuses. Is that challenging enough? Very well I'll be waiting for you at Mavis' grave." Gramps said. He walked away from us leaving us to go look around for Mavis' grave. Wendy and I set off looking around for anything to lead us to the grave, but we started encountering a bunch of giant monsters. I ended up taking on most of the monsters knocking most of the out while taking on a bunch on injuries. After quite a few fights we stopped finding a place to rest under a tree while Wendy took care of my injuries. "Seriously Zuli, you can't keep rushing into fights like that." Wendy scolded. I chuckled before smiling at her. "Sorry, but you know out of the two of us I'm the best fighter plus I can defend you easily when you're behind me." I said, looking at her.

"I know, but I'd rather you not get seriously injuried while you take this trial. Besides if you run out of magic power who's going to defend you while you recover. So you should slow down and take the fights as they come and only then. Do you understand me, Zuli?" Wendy asked.

"I know, I promise to keep fighting to a minimum while we face the trials. That the answer you want, Celestia?" I answered. Wendy nodded and finished healing the last few of my injuries.
