Chapter 72

Y/n's POV

"What are you three talking about?" Wendy asked. I stood ready in case Mest tried to do anything with magic. "Stay back and keep quiet for now." Carla said.

"Tell me who you really are." Lily ordered.

"What do you mean?" Mest asked.

"It is my belief that the magic you can use can influence someone's memory. If I'm correct, then you've been using that magic to masquerade as a member of Fairy Tail since before the trial. Too many things don't add up, including your story about being Mystogan's pupil. From what I've seen, nobody has any actual connection with you. And just now you had no idea what the guild's emergency flare signified. There's no talking your way out of that." Lily said. Mest didn't answer to Lily before looking up at him and disappearing in front of us. Lily gasped as he saw Mest vanish from his sight. "He disappeared!" Carla shouted. Lily turned towards us looking for Mest. Mest's scent appeared behind me as I looked over my shoulder, seeing him reach for Wendy. I felt some magic coming towards us before quickly activating Water Dragon's Shield, protecting myself from what was coming. "Get down now!" Mest ordered. Mest vanished while Lily grabbed Carla and flew up into the air while Sapphire stayed near me. An explosion shook the ground underneath me while my shield stayed active. Mest's scent, along with Wendy's, appeared behind me again while I looked towards where the magic came from. "What's going on here?" Lily asked. I could hear him landing behind me, so I jumped towards where they were ready to activate Water Dragon's Shield again if I had to. Another wave of magic attacks were shot towards us causing the ground to split under our feet. "Who are you! Show yourself!" Mest ordered. 

He turned to look towards a tree that was near us before it started stretching outwards as the outline of a face formed in the bark. "Impressive. Your senses are quite sharp." The person said. I moved towards Wendy hugging her while also backing away from Mest since I still didn't trust him. "The tree attacked us?" Carla asked.

"Out! Come and face us!" Lily demanded. The tree stretched more as the face turned towards us. "I'm from Grimoire Hearts. Name's Azuma. I'm one of the Seven Kin of Purgatory." Azuma said, introducing himself. I felt Wendy grip my arm clearly scared that a dark guild was on the island. "So that's what the flare was. Someone must've run into more of these freaks." Mest said. Azuma laughed as he finally pulled himself out of the tree. "A bit late to be worrying about your friends." Azuma said.

"How dare you! What exactly is going on here!" Lily growled.

"I thought if I was going to find any dirt on the Fairy Tail guild the most logical place would be here. It's sacred burial ground." Mest said. Lily and I growled as we heard Mest's answer. "But to find Zeref and Grimoire Heart as well... talk about hitting the jackpot. Must be my lucky day." Mest continued. I let go of Wendy and stood in front of us blocking her from Mest. "Just who are you?" Carla asked.

"Zeref?" Wendy asked.

"Come on isn't it obvious? I work for the magic council. I inflitrated your ranks to gather informatino that will bring you down once and for all." Mest answered. I growled wanting to beat the crap out of Mest for even mentioning that he was here to spy on us. "You're a spy?" Carla asked.

"But Mest..." Wendy started.

"Save it Wendy. He's here only to tear our family apart." I said.

"Very interesting." Azuma said.

"But I've caught a much bigger fish now. To think that the ever elusive Grimoire Heart would just fall into my lap out of nowhere. If I take them out, my career is as good as made. I even have the council's custody enforcement ships on standby. Once the dark guild makes landfall it'll be game over for them. This is a crack down! Today the devil's heart stops beating for good.." Mest said. 

"Those battleships look so fragile from here." Azuma said. As we looked at Azuma a bright light and explosion followed as he talked about the ships. Mest gasped as he looked at where the explosion happened. "No... All of those people." Wendy said. 

"The ships..."Mest started.

"But how?" Lily asked. Azuma finally stepped out of the tree completely looking at the ground. "If you're done talking I'd like to get to work destroying everyone here, right now." Azuma said. Lily stepped in front of us before I joined him. "Everyone stand back." Lily ordered.

"Sorry Lily, but you're not the only one that gets to beat this guy." I said. Lily just looked at me before nodding and getting in his fighting position. "How could you do that?" Wendy asked. 

"Those ships were full of innocent people." Carla said. 

"How can one man have such power? It's impossible." Mest said, looking at Azuma.

"Trust me, you'll run into plenty of powerful people in your life." I said. Lily rushed forward towards Azuma jumping into the air to attack, but was consumed by Azuma's attack. While Azuma was focused on Lily I rushed forward to join in the fight. Lily came out of Azuma's attack and hit him sending him into the air. I jumped up and slammed Azuma into the ground with my fists. A ring of small fireballs appeared around before growing bigger and exploding. I heard a yell of pain come from behind me as I looked back and saw Lily recovering from a similar attack. "If only I had a sword." Lily said. I jumped back and stood near Lily as we looked at Azuma. "Don't worry you're not in this alone." Wendy said. She started casting spells to boost our speed and and strength. "Thank you, Celestia." I said. Lily flew in aiming towards Azuma while I rushed forward. Both of us managed to avoid most of Azuma's explosion spells. Azuma started dodging our attacks as Lily and I tried to hit Azuma. As we were fighting Azuma I felt someone grab onto my back. "Lily! Sapphire! Fly up!" Carla said. Sapphire lifted me into the air while Lily flew up himself. Azuma mentioned that his spells would reach us no matter what, but I didn't listen before seeing Mest and Wendy appear behind Azuma. I could tell she was building up magic to release a roar, but Azuma raised his arms to his side. "You pathetic fools, go Tower Burst." Azuma said. 

His spell erupted from around him, I braced myself as the spell hit me while everyone else was consumed by his spell. I heard Wendy's scream of pain and growled before feeling myself fall towards the ground. I hit the ground hard leaving a small crater where I landed. Azuma was standing above us as I looked up at him. "This guild are kids and cats it's only defense?" Azuma asked.

"Not even close. Why don't you come down here and fight me one on one." I said, standing up. Azuma just looked at me confused about the fact that I was still standing. "I see, you've got quite the defense if you could take that spell with so little damage." Azuma said. I jumped towards him as he started throwing more explosion spells towards me. I used my water magic to put out the flames making Azuma shoot more spells towards me. I punched Azuma in the chin sending him flying before he stopped himself in the air sending more explosions towards me. I blocked most of the attack. As I continued fighting I noticed Gramp's magic building up before looking over and seeing Gramps fighting. As I looked at him Azuma laughed before I was engulfed in explosions. I did my best to endure the attacks, but I was sent back towards the group hitting the ground and bouncing a little. I looked up seeing Azuma laugh as I activated Water Dragon's Shield to protect in case he wanted to attack again. After a few seconds of no attacks I closed my eyes and passed out. When I opened my eyes again I heard dad shouting at someone before I looked up seeing him holding Mest in his hand ready to beat him black and blue. "Was it you? Did you do this?" Dad asked. Mest was clearly scared as I tried to get up. "Dad..." I said. Dad looked back at me before smiling. "Good, now let me just beat this guy up." Dad started.

"Don't... Mest is a member of the magic council." Wendy said. I looked over seeing her looking at dad before smiling. Dad panicked before letting go of Mest and trying to fix his jacket. "The magic council is our enemy now?" Dad asked. He and Happy panicked as they turned away from Mest.

"You're wrong, the enemy is Grimoire Heart." Carla said. Dad and Happy were panicking more as Lily pointed outs something flying above us. I looked up seeing what looked like golden balls from the sky before the balls popped and enemy soldiers fell from the sky. "Looks like it's time to fight." I said, getting up.

The solider quickly surrounded us as Mest stood up ready to try and fight again. "Ready, dad?" I asked. 

"Oh yeah. I'm all fired up!" Dad said.
