Chapter 89

Y/n's POV

We made it to the main ballroom, where the dance had already started with couples dancing to the music being played. "What happened to the boys?" Mom asked. We looked around for dad and the others before spotting them standing off to the side by some tables. "There they are." Celestia pointed out. Dad and the others looked at us before I heard them talking to each other. Celestia gently tugged on my hand as we started making our way over to dad and the others. "It's so glamorous. I wonder if Velveno will show up here like the Count's predicting?" Big sis asked.

"All we can do is investigate people we find suspicious without being rude. Y/n, that means you and Natsu need to be careful." Mom said.

"Hey." I complained. Celestia giggled before a guy wearing a light blue military uniform came over and looked at big sis. "Woah, I think a red-headed angel just walked through the door. You came way too far from heaven to be frowning like tha beautiful. Dance with me and smile." The guy said. The man grabbed big sis' hand before guiding her to one of the platforms that would lift couples into the air to dance. Warren mentioned that dad and the others should tail him before they started walking over. Big sis was already dancing with the guy like she did with dad when we were practicing. "Poor guy, I don't think anyone is on big sis' level of dancing." I joked. Celestia giggled quietly, are she heard me joking about big sis. After a moment, a guy with brunette hair wearing a black and gold military uniform came over asking mom if he could dance with her. Mom accepted before the two of them stepped onto a platform as well. I heard dad and Gray mention checking on her before a lady rushed back Celestia and I taking dad's hands to dance. As I stood there stunned that dad was getting danced with another woman rushed past us starting to dance with Gray. "Good thing Juvia's not here. That lady would end up dead." I said.

"Yeah, let's not tell her about that." Celestia said. I looked over at Elfman, with him being the last one to not have a dance partner. A gorgeous lady walked up to him before asking if he'd dance with her. Dad and Gray used an ice platform that Gray made with his magic to send the women dancing with them, spinning away from them. Dad used one of the dancing platforms to hit Elfman off the platform he was on only for Gray to take over and dancing with the woman. I could hear Gray asking the woman what magic she used before the woman used Ice Maker magic, making some swans out of ice and flying on them. Gray used his to make a kite before they started clashing with different types of attacks through their maker magic. Big sis came over before interrupting the fight with a single slash of her sword. "Look, miss Aceto is up on the balcony." Celestia pointed out. I turned to look up at the balcony, seeing Aceto and her father before they started walking down. All the men at the ball looked at her, clearly wanting to date or marry her since that's what was going to happen tonight. She was wearing a stunning white and red dress that had roses on it and a purple ribbon that was just above her chest. "She's looks pretty tonight." I mentioned.

"And I don't?" Celestia questioned. I turned and smiled before kissing her cheek. "You'll always be my number one." I said. Aceto ended up going with big sis for the first dance which big sis accepted. They started dancing before I heard mom asking about why Aceto was dancing with big sis. "May I have this dance?" Someone asked. I looked behind me, seeing a boy asking Celestia to dance before she looked back at me. I nodded, letting her know it was okay for her to dance since I wasn't one to dance. As they were dancing, the clock in the ballroom started ringing, signaling that it was midnight under the clock a set of doors opened before the ring came out. "Whoever takes the ring is there by granted the right to propose to my beautiful daughter. It is a Balsamico family tradition." Count Balsamico said. 

"Here, Here. Anyone who desires my daughter's hand in marriage must first possess the ring!" Count Balsamico announced. All the men in the ballroom rushed towards the ring to be the first to get it. I sighed, watching as all the men rushed towards it, happy that I wasn't ever involved in something like that. "Wendy! Watch out, that's Velveno." Warren said. I turned and looked up at where Celestia was dancing, seeing the boy with her before he released his transformation. "I'm me again." Velveno announced. He used Celestia's Dragon Roar spell to get the ring as I growled, looking up at him. "And now the Balsamico Family's precious ring is in the hands of the one and only Velveno!" Velveno announced. Count Balsamico demanded that Velveno return the ring to him. Dad rushed over, charging at Velveno only to be countered with his own spells. "Ha. I took the liberty of helping myself to some of your magic too, while we had our little dance." Velveno said, looking at dad. Big sis walked over in front of us before mentioning that she'd deal with him. "Gray, Elfman. You two protect Aceto." Big sis ordered. Celestia walked over next to me, taking my hand. "You doing okay?" I asked. She nodded as we watched big sis try to attack Velveno as well. She used her purgatory armor only for Velveno to copy it with his magic. "It's pointless. I've already copied the magic of each of the Fairy Tail member that came to this little shindig." Velveno said. I stepped forward, looking at him. "I think there's one you forgot to copy." I said. 

"Oh yeah? What magic do you have?" Velveno asked.

"Water Dragon Slayer magic." I said. Velveno flinched as he looked at me. "So you did forget one member." I added. 

"Okay, let's not do this then. The last thing I want to do tonight is get in a brawl with a girl who's got a fire in her eyes." Velveno said.

"Why are you here, then?" I asked.

"I'm here cause I screwed up last time. I waited seven long years to try it out again. Aceto, I've got something big to ask you. We've known each other ever since we were both just little kids. This entire time I've been crazy in love with ya." Velveno confessed, holding the ring up for her.

"You were the low born child of one of my servants. That I still permitted you to play with my child. Have you forgotten your place?" Count Balsamico asked.

"Every time I came to see Aceto, you'd remind. You'd say 'We're from two different worlds and shouldn't mix and then you'd kick me back out on the street again, cause trash like me doesn't belong in your palace.'" Velveno explained.

"Daddy, you never told me he tried to visit." Aceto said.

"And you don't need to hear about any of this now." Count Balsamico said. 

"The sad thing is I started to believe him and I decided to that I was finally gonna give up on Aceto. Kind of gave up on myself too. Drifted around for a while, then eventually turned to a life of crime. Got arrested, ended up in jail." Velveno explained.

"I'm not buying any of this guy's..." Dad started before I walked over and punched him in the gut to get him to be quiet. Dad ended up on the floor, passed out from my single punch. "And while I was locked up, I had all the time in the world to sit around thinking about the thing I regretted most in my life. How I never got the chance to tell you how I felt, so I took a risk and brought out to come to the ball. I even did it twice." Velveno said. Aceto was quiet before Velveno started walking over to her. "Miss Aceto, please tell me you'll be my wife." Velveno said, getting on one knee and holding the ring out to her. I heard a squeak come from mom as I looked at her, seeing that Celestia and big sis were having the same reactions to it. "Can't you see this is a waste of time? Her answer is no." Count Balsamico answered. Aceto stepped forward before smiling at Velveno. "I will." She answered. Velveno was just as stunned, letting the cigar in his mouth fall to the ground before everyone asked what about her answer. "What are you serious?" Velveno asked.

"Of course, I've been waiting my whole life for the day you'd come back." Aceto answered.

"You were? This is like my wildest dream come true. I can hardly believe it." Velveno said.

"There's just one thing. Turn yourself in. You still need to pay for your crimes." Aceto said.

"You're right." Velveno agreed. Aceto held her hand out for Velveno so he could slip the ring on her finger. Velveno followed through and slipped the ring onto her finger. Everyone in the ballroom cheered for them before the other girls gushed over it. Dad and I were a little confused before Celestia came over and held my hand. "I think you need to stop hanging around with Natsu so much. You're acting more and more like him every time you're around him." Celestia complained. Big sis called for a round of applause for the couple. Some magic knights showed up to take Velveno back to prison before Aceto mentioned she'd wait for him. Mom asked about the reward before Count Balsamico complained about giving money since we didn't actually do what we were supposed to do and ended up not paying for us. Big sis called for us to celebrate Aceto's happiness by dancing the night away. Celestia ended up dragging me over to one of the platforms before we were lifted into the air. Celestia took the lead as we started dancing, enjoying the night as we continued to dance until the ball ended.
