Y/n's POV
"Edolas?" Papa asked.
"That's correct. The world that exists independently from the one we know. And unfortunately a world that's begun losing its magic." Carla explained.
"They're running out of magic there?" Wendy asked.
"How's that even possible?" I asked.
"What do you mean by that?" Dad asked.
"Unlike here in Edolas, magic is a finite resource. Without limits on its use, it will one day disappear forever." Carla answered. It was quiet for a moment and we took in the thought of magic being finite. "In an attempt to restore their rapidly diminishing magical reserves, the king of Edolas developed a spell that would absorb it from another world. Our world. It is a very powerful spell indeed, he called it Anima. That opened the hole in the sky." Carla continued.
"So... That's it." Wendy said.
"The spell that Mystogan mentioned when you were traveling with him." I said.
"Six years ago, they began setting up Anima vortices all along the barrier between our worlds, but the experiment did not go as they planned. It seems someone made it their goal to close them. One by one." Carla said.
"Mystogan has been closing them by himself for six years?" I asked.
"This Anima was simply too large. No one was strong enough to close it. And thus the guild and everything around it was absorbed." Carla said.
"Why would they go after everyone in Fairy Tail like that?" Dad asked.
"I told you. To provide more magic power to those in Edolas." Carla said.
"So they chose Fairy Tail because it has a lot of top class Wizards? Because there's more power to take?" Wendy asked.
"That's correct." Carla answered.
"It makes sense to me. Where else would you get such a strong source of magic? A guild with five dragon slayers would be top of the list." I said.
"I can't believe it. That's a seriously selfish move. You better give us back all our friends right now!" Dad yelled at the sky.
"You mean it Carla? This happened because of you, me and Sapphire?" Happy asked.
"Indirectly, yes." Calra answered.
"What do you mean indirectly?" Happy asked.
"The king entrust us with another mission entirely. Something that was independent of Anima and magic absorption." Carla said.
"That doesn't make any sense! How can that be true when you were born in this world hatched out of an egg?" Wendy asked.
"It's true. Sapphire only hatched a couple months ago at most." I said. Carla looked at me stunned after hearing that. "What? I thought she was younger than the tom cat." Carla said.
"Well she is now... She wasn't when she first hatched." I said, thinking back to Galuna island.
"Happy was too. It was me that found him." Dad said.
"Indeed, we were. To be perfectly honest, I myself personally have never set foot in Edolas. I was born in this world and have spent my entire life here. It's exactly as Wendy said. But we were imprinted with this knowledge. The deetails of our mission and of Edolas are apart of what our very being. He, Sapphire and I were born to carry out this mission for our kingdom, so why... why don't you know the first thing about it?" Carla said.
"I don't know." Happy said, looking at the ground.
"I don't know anything about it either." Sapphire said, floating over to us. I smiled and ran over to her hugging her. "You're safe. I'm happy to see you're still here." I said. Sapphire complained a little before I let her out of my hug. "I've never heard fo Edolas or this mission you're talking about." Sapphire said, looking at Carla.
"Anyway that's what I meant by indirectly. The Anima that did this orginated from our homeland, so that's why we're partially to blame." Carla said.
"And... What is the mission you're on Carla?" Wendy asked.
"I can't tell you... I'm sorry." Carla said. Happy asked for her to tell us so he could know more about where he came from before Carla scolded him for asking and saying that he just doesn't remember it. "Okay guys, listen. Now that the cat's been let out of the bag we should head out. We gotta get to Edolas." Dad said. I smiled and looked at him. "Have you lost your mind? Do you have any idea what's going on here?" Carla asked.
"You mean it?" Wendy asked.
"Of course he does. He's not to only one going to Edolas." I said. Happy's stomach growled which made all of us laugh a little. "I'm scared. And being scared always makes me hungry." Happy said.
"It's good to have a healthy appetite." Dad said. I could see the sad look that Wendy was giving Carla while dad looked up at the Anima. "If all of our friends are up in Edolas then we got no choice but to go and help them out." Dad said.
"Are they really there?" Wendy asked.
"I would assume so, but even if we find them I'm not entirely sure we can save them. And what's more if we can in fact reach Edolas I can't guarantee that we can return here." Carla said.
"Who cares. So long as Fairy Tail's together we'll figure everything out." I said.
"Oh well, if none of our buddies are in this world what would be the point of coming back here anyway? Except for looking for Igneel maybe." Dad said.
"I feel the same." Wendy said. Happy's stomach growled again as he mentioned that we should try since they'd do the same for us. Carla admitted that she was a part of the guild while being partially responsible for what happened before laying down a few rules for us when we got to Edolas. She mentioned that we all had to be in disguise before Wendy confirmed with her about doing that. The second rule was that Happy couldn't ask about the mission before the third rule which was the fact that she didn't know the lay out of Edolas and that we should stick together. Her final rule was for us to kill Happy, Carla, or Sapphire if they did anything to betray us.
