Chapter 34 Love Begins

Y/n's POV

Me and mama were walking home after trying to find a job that paid well enough for us to pay for rent. Mama was walking on the edge of the path that had a canal running through it. "How many times do I need to warn you?" Someone asked as they rowed past us. Mama started to fall over but managed to catch herself before falling into the river. When we made it home, I smelled papa and Happy while mama checked the entire house before sighing. "I wish we didn't have to check the home every time we got home." Mama said. I shook my head and set Sapphire down on the ground, letting her wandering over to the fridge to get some food. "We've had a rough past while. I think I deserve a bath." Mama said.

"Go for it." I said. She nodded and headed into the bathroom. I checked the bed and found Happy and papa in mama's bed. I sighed and pulled Happy out from the bed and sat him on the table.  "Happy... It's time to wake up." I said. He slowly woke up and looked at me. "Good morning Y/n." Happy said. I smiled and patted him on the head. "Hi, what are you doing in mama's bed?" I asked. 

"Natsu needed a nap since he's still sick and I just ended up falling asleep too." He explained. I heard that bathroom door open as mama came out and saw me with Happy. "What's that blue cat doing here?" Mama asked.

"He and papa fell asleep on your bed." I said. Mama growled before pulling papa out of her bed by his scarf. "Good morning..." Papa groggily said. Mama ripped his scarf off around his neck before he fell back onto her bed face first. "Give Natsu back his scarf, you meanie." Happy said. Mama looked down at the scarf before looking at us. "Is it really that important to him? I've never seen him without it." Mama said. 

"You might not have noticed this, but any time we go on a trip Y/n packs the doll that Kaida helped her make before she disappeared." Sapphire said. 

"Ooo~ Y/n needs her dolly at all times." Happy said. I glared Happy down before he covered his mouth. "Sapphire you told me you wouldn't tell anyone." I said.

"I think it's something that Lucy should know." Sapphire said.

"She's right though. Natsu's scarf is just as important to him as Y/n's Kaida doll is to her." Happy explained. Mama looked at me while I got up and grabbed the doll that we were talking about. "Is it because of the scale that's in the heart of the doll?" Mama asked. 

"That's why it's important to me." I said. I checked the doll for any damage before hugging it and setting it down on the table. "It's just something that helps me through a day." I said. Mama came over and hugged me.  "I think it's time that you head home though Happy." Mama said picking him up. She carried him over to the window before seeing something in his bag. "What's this?" Mama asked. I walked over to the dresser I had and grabbed my pajamas out of it. Happy explained that it was the Magnolia Harvest Festival and how a Miss Fairy Tail contest was being held and the prize was 500,000 jewel. I finished getting ready for bed and laid down before Sapphire crawled into bed with me. The next morning  I was woken up by someone knocking on the door. I groggily got up and made my way downstairs answering the door to be blinded by the morning sun. "Good morning Y/n. Would you like to go to the Harvest Festival with me?" Dacoda asked.

"What?" I asked, covering my eyes still processing what he asked. I let him inside and walked upstairs to our shared room. "You have to share a room with your mom?" Dacoda asked. I nodded. "Did I wake you up?" He asked. I nodded walking into the bathroom door. "Ow. Who put the door here." I said. I heard a stiffled chuckle come from Dacoda before I opened the door and headed inside. I started taking a hot shower using the heat to wake myself up completely before realizing that I didn't take clothes into the bathroom. After I finished my shower I slightly opened the door. "Dacoda will you wake up Sapphire and tell her to come to the bathroom?" I asked. He woke Sapphire up and she walked into the bathroom and looked at me. "You forgot to take clothes in here with you after you let Dacoda in huh?" She asked. I nodded before hearing a sigh of disapproval. "I'll get you some clothes, just stay here." She said. She walked out of the bathroom before I heard drawers of my dresser open then close. There was a gentle knock on the door before I opened it to see Sapphire with some new clothes for me. 

"I can't believe you forgot clothes." She said. 

"I also forgot to open the bathroom door before walking in." I said. Sapphire sighed again before she left the bathroom. I quickly changed into the new clothes before heading out of the bathroom and seeing Dacoda sitting at the table looking at my Kaida doll. "Be careful I'm incredibly possesive over that." I said. Dacoda stopped looking at it and up at me. "I see, I'm sorry for staring at it." Dacoda said. 

"It's okay, I was joking." I said. 

"Well shall we go with the Harvest Festival?" Dacoda asked. I nodded as we left my house and headed to the main roads that had stalls that were setting up and some that were beginning to sell things. As we were walking around I spotted a girl with dark blue hair walking around looking at the stalls that had different types of sweets. "I'm going to go check out that sweets stand." I said. Dacoda nodded as I walked over to the stall. When I got to the stall I stood next to the girl and looked at her. "Do you have any recommendations for the sweets here?" I asked. She looked at me with her chocolate brown eyes before recommending some of the sweets that were laid out. "You've been staring at me for a while now. Did you need something else?" The girl asked. 

"I'm sorry, you just look like a person I was told would be my partner." I said, looking at the ground.

"I was told something similar about a month or two ago, you also look like that girl that I saw." She said. My face heated up as I felt a blush cross it. "M-my name is Wendy Marvell, what's yours?" Wendy said.

"I'm Y/n, i-it's nice to meet you." I said. 

"Y/n!" Sapphire called.

"Wendy!" Someone called. I turned around to see Sapphire before she looked at Wendy. "Is she the girl?" Sapphire asked. 

"Who is it you're talking too?" Someone asked. A white cat came out from behind Wendy and looked at me. "Hello. I'm Carla." Carla said. Sapphire and I looked at her a little shocked. "What? Have you never seen a talking cat?" Carla asked. We looked at each other before looking at her and shaking our heads. "That's not it, we know one other talking cat named Happy. Sapphire here can also talk." I said. 

"Now I have a question for you." Carla said, looking at me. I slowly nodded my head and looked at her. "I know Wendy saw you in a fortune teller's crystal ball or whatever. I need to know, are you sure you'd stay with Wendy no matter what?" Carla asked. I looked at her and then at Wendy who had a tomato red blush across her face. "Yes, I would. Something about being near her makes everything around me just disappear." I said. Wendy smiled at me before I smiled back at her. "Good. I'm happy that someone cares so much for her, but just so you know until I know more about you I can't trust you." Carla said. I nodded, before Wendy hugged me suddenly. 

"Y/n. I found something you might like." Dacoda said. I turned and looked at him while Wendy was still hugging me. "Who's this?" Dacoda asked looking at Wendy. Wendy quickly let go of me before looking at Dacoda. "Sorry Dacoda I got caught up with talking with Wendy. Oh Wendy would you like to join us?" I asked. I heard something from Dacoda, but when I looked at him he was just smiling at me.
