Chap. 11 Sapphire the Partner to Y/n The Water Dragon Slayer

A/n: I'm going to speed up Sapphire's growth, she'll end up half the age of Happy, which is about three years old. She'll still be a little childish, but act sort of like Carla, and she'll keep the recommended personality.

Y/n's POV

I watched as a dark blue cat crawled out of the eggshell before looking at me. The cat stood up before smiling at me; I noticed little white wings on the cat's back. I gently picked the cat up, giving them a hug. "My own little cat with wings!" I cheered happily. The cat looked at me before tapping my nose with its paw. "My name is Y/n, now what should I call you?" I said. I sat there with my cat while thinking of a name, then I realized that I didn't know if my cat was a boy or a girl. "Mommy, how do I tell if my cat is a boy or girl?" I asked. Mommy looked at me, a little shocked, before thinking. "Happy, can you tell if Y/n's cat is a boy or a girl?" Mommy asked Happy. Happy nodded, walking over to me as I set my cat on the floor he walked around my cat checking out different areas of my cat before looking at me. "She's a girl." Happy said. I nodded, starting to think about girl names for my cat. "How about Sapphire?" Mommy asked.

"Sapphire, do you like that name?" I asked, looking at Sapphire. She nodded, she flapped her little wings flying up to land on my head. "Look after her the best you can, she might be small now just wait until she gets older though then you'll have a friend and a partner like me." Daddy said. I nodded, accidentally making Sapphire fall into my lap, as she looked up at me laughing about it. "Y-Y/n..." Sapphire said shocking me. Everyone looked at her as I smiled, I picked her up giving her a hug before tossing her into the air. "Y/n, friend." Sapphire said. I smiled, nodding at Sapphire. "Well you two let's get some rest before starting this job, and you two should maybe stay back in the village. Just so they can be protected from anything that might come while we're investigating our request." Mommy said. 

"Okay, while we're hear I'm going to teach Y/n what I know. Do you want to stay and help Happy?" I asked. 

"I'm sorry Y/n, I need to go with Natsu, Lucy and Gray just in case they need me." Happy said. I nodded laying back down with Sapphire in my arms, even though I was just woken up I was still tired and ready to sleep. I quickly fell asleep still holding onto Sapphire, when the morning came mommy woke me up to say that they were leaving. I sat up rubbing my eyes to open them easier, mommy, daddy, and Gray all left the village leaving me to protect them. "So Sapphire what should we do?" I asked her. She landed on top of my head feeling a bit heavier than yesterday. "I think you need to get cleaned up." Sapphire said. I reached up lifting her off my head to see that she was bigger than yesterday. "Did you grow last night?" I asked.

"T-there's n-no n-need to m-mention i-it." Sapphire said shyly. I smiled giggling about her reaction to me. "No need to be shy." I said. Sapphire let her wings pop out so she could fly onto my head again. "I'm not shy, and you do smell a little. You swam in the ocean didn't you?" Sapphire asked. I nodded as she patted my head with her paw. "I can feel it in your hair and smell it coming from you." Sapphire said. I let out a sigh before heading over to the village elder. "Mister Elder, do you have anywhere I can take a bath?" I asked. Another villager came over to me leading me back to the house where I slept. "You can take a bath in here, there's also some soap if you need it." The villager said opening a door to the room across from where we slept.

"Thank you." I said entering the bathroom. I felt something crawl out from under my shirt, Sapphire looked up at me from the front of my shirt. "Why are you hiding in my shirt?" I asked. I saw her face turn a light pink color. "I'm just shy okay, no need to tease me about it." Sapphire said turning away from my gaze. I just smiled at her as I pulled her out sitting her down on the sink counter, I took off my clothes and got into the tub which was already full of water. I heard a stool being scooted over to the edge of the tub. "You should take better care of your hair." Sapphire said as I felt a tug on my hair.

"You don't have to was my hair, I can do it myself." I said. I felt another tug on my hair as well as something pass over my head. "No need, I can at least help you with a few things even if I'm young." Sapphire said. I turned to look at her and she seemed a bit bigger again, I looked at her in shock. "What?" Sapphire asked. I just turned back to the water letting her finish washing my hair. "You're getting bigger again, I just don't understand how you've grown up this quick." I said. 

"What are you talking about? I've always been this big I'm three years old remember." Sapphire said.

"But you hatched yesterday, I don't get how you're already three." I said.

"Y/n, you live in a world of magic. That should say that anything is possible, me getting older over the course of a day might just be possible." Sapphire said scrubbing my hair with her paws. I just sat there thinking about what Sapphire had said, she finished scrubbing my hair I felt water running down my hair as Sapphire rinsed it. "Y/n remember one thing for me okay, remember that no matter how old I am I'll always be your friend and partner. Just don't force me into big gatherings and avoid making me be shy." Sapphire said. I nodded quietly reaching my hand out of the water, I grabbed Sapphire and pulled her into the water with me. "Y/n! Don't do that!" Sapphire yelled. I sat there giggling about her reaction, before long she join in on my giggling  swimming over to meresting her head on my shoulder. "That's my dragon slayer, you're the one that makes me shy I hope you know that." Sapphire said.

"I know, but you have such a strong personality that's why we're the perfect team." I said. Sapphie nodded, I climbed out of the bath picking up Sapphire lifting her onto the counter again. I grabbed a towel from a hook on the wall, I dried off Sapphire before using my magic to dry myself off. "Ok, what do you think we should do now?" I asked. Sapphire opened the door checking to see if someone was in the hallway, Sapphire nodded before opening the door the rest of the way. "Well I think you should get dressed, then we can walk around the village to talk and meet the villagers." Sapphire said. I nodded and entered the room the villagers let us use, I found my backpack and opened it. I grabbed some fresh clothes quickly getting dressed, we left the house and started exploring the village. Sapphire hid from most of the villagers by using my shirt and some of my hair.

"Do you want me to get you a hood or something?" I asked Sapphire. 

"No, but I wouldn't mind a scarf. Light blue if you can find one in that color/colour." Sapphire said quietly.

"Alright let's see if they have some fabric or something we can use to make you a scarf with." I said. We went around asking the villagers about fabric, each time we met a new villager Sapphire would try to hide herself evne more then before. "You're cute when you act so shy, you know that Sapphire?" I said. I felt her nod against my shirt before we ran into a villager who sold some fabric. We looked through the fabric that they had, I asked to see what colors/colours of blue that they had once they showed us I asked Sapphire which one she would like. She pointed to a baby blue, I asked if we could buy some. The villager tried to just give it to me, but I made sure that they took the money for the fabric. "Thank you, come back anytime." The villager called as we left their shop.

"Time to get back to the house and turn this fabric into a scarf for you." I said.

"I think you're forgetting the fact that we don't have anything to sew it with, we'll just have to wait until we get home." Sapphire said.

"I guess you're right, well until mommy, daddy and Gray get back we just need to protect this village." I said.
