"Jenny, she's the financial manager of Ron's company," I said. "She must know something about Ron's illegal business."
"Then we have to find her as soon as possible," Frade said. "Give me information on this woman, and I'll have Mark look into her right now."
Just as Frade was about to leave the room, I stopped him.
"Frade。"
"What?"
"Thank you," I said to him.
"Don't forget our agreement," said Frade with a smile.
Then Frade came up to Mark, and he told Mark to immediately contact the hacker to look into Jenny's background. Mark hesitated for a moment, then he opened his e-mail to find an investigation file on Jenny.
"Boss, I thought you asked me to look into this woman before," Mark said. "See, here's everything I found out about her."
"When did this happen?" Frade thought. "Are you sure I asked you to look into her? I don't even know her."
I immediately gave Mark a look, and he quickly explained, "It's me. I remember you once asked me to investigate Moore's employees, and this woman was one of them."
Frade believed it. I stood behind him and mouthed Mark, "Thank you.".
I remember seeing Jenny in a Japanese restaurant with another man. It got my attention, so I asked Frade to look into Jenny in private. I later learned that she was negotiating a loan for Ron with a bank representative. Luckily, Mark made an excuse for me. Frade didn't suspect anything.
"There are two things we need to do right now. First, we need to quickly find out where Liv is being held, and second, we need to find out something useful from this woman called Jenny ." Frade began to assign tasks, "Mark, you go to these two places right now. Remember to bring some help."
Then he said to me, "Can you get this woman to come out to see you?"
"I can." I nodded.
"All right, now let's get moving," Frade said and went into the bedroom. He took out two pistols and put them on his waist.
"Give me a gun," I said to him.
"Can you shoot?" Frade asked curiously.
"I can shoot." I remember he taught me how to use a gun correctly, and he taught me a lot of fighting skills. But he doesn't remember.
Frade gave me a pistol, and then he told me to call Jenny. When Jenny heard my voice, she hung up the phone immediately. I knew she was too guilty to take my call. She must have thought I was here to get revenge on her. Because she's the one who told Ron that I'd been plotting to kill Gina's baby. This f.ucking woman, she must think I'm dead.
"She's not answering my calls." I regret calling her just now. She must be wary of me.
"Maybe we can deal with this in the most direct way," Frade said. "Go to her office or her home. I think she's at work at this time."
"Let me try again." I decided to call Jenny again. This time the call went through, but she didn't speak.
"Jenny, I think you know all about Ron's illegal activities. As a matter of fact, I have a flash drive with all of Ron's illegal transactions on it."
To make her believe me, I mentioned an illegal activity on the flash drive. "One of Ron's businesses, called Pearl, is actually a shell company. Its function is to launder money. You transferred money from an unknown source into Ron's personal account as part of a commodity transaction. I remember your signature on all the financial statements."
There was a long silence at the other end of the phone. I waited patiently.
"What do you want?" Jenny sounded very upset.
"As long as you cooperate with me, I won't give this flash drive to the police."
She finally took the bait.
To get her to let her guard down completely, I continued.
"We can meet in person. I'm at the cafe on the first floor of your office. I'll be there in 10 minutes," I said. "Just me."
"All right," she agreed.
I hung up, and Frade gave me a look of appreciation. I smiled apologetically. I almost screwed up just now.
So I told Frade the company's address, and he immediately drove me to Ron's building. I went into the cafe by myself and found that Jenny hadn't come yet. So I walked out of the cafe. It's past dinnertime now, so there won't be too many people on the road. But if I want to catch her, I have to avoid passers-by, or she will scream or ask for help and the police will be alerted.
Frade's car was parked on the side of the road not far from the cafe. I knew it wasn't allowed to park there, so I had to get Jenny in the car before the police gave him a ticket.
I have to be fast.
Just then, I saw Jenny coming through the door in her business suit, so I stood out in front of her, welcoming her with open arms.
She didn't doubt it and slowly approached me.
Her guard went down when I opened my arms to her. This is a good opportunity for me.
"Jenny, I miss you so much." I hurried up and hugged Jenny as she approached me. She was stunned. Obviously, she was a little overwhelmed by my actions.
"Don't talk, just walk." I put my gun to her waist. "Walk to the car in front of you."
She was forced to move forward, and I took the opportunity to look around. There were no police, just an old man on crutches waiting for the light to turn green and cross the street.
"Get in." I pushed her into the car.
"Where are you taking me?" Jenny looked frightened. "Please don't kill me."
"I won't kill you, as long as you cooperate with me." I stared into her eyes. "We have a lot to talk about."
I pointed a gun at her with one hand, then took out handcuffs and cuffed her hands. Jenny sat in the car, not daring to make a sound, her body motionless. Her eyes looked around nervously like frightened rabbits.
Before the car arrived at the hotel, I took off my coat and put it over her so that even passers-by wouldn't see the handcuffs hidden under her clothes. Soon we were back at the hotel, and Mark hadn't given us any feedback.
I let Jenny sit on the couch, her hands still cuffed. Just then, I received a text message. This is a message from MIKEAL.
'Two hours later, you go to the hunting ground. There is a cabin there. We can exchange hostages there. Mikeal.
I took a deep breath. I was running out of time. So I walked up to Jenny and said to her coldly.
"If you don't want to die, do exactly as I say. You have ten minutes. I'm counting down the minutes."
