Jeff, it was him.

It turns out that he and Mia already knew each other. So is Mia Jeff's spy for Frade?

"Elena stopped dancing at the nightclub after being kept." Rose said, "Then she introduced me to a frozen-food vendor who became my sugar daddy. We used to date. Sometimes we have a double date. Then the man took me to live with him in Australia for a while. During that time, Elena and I lost touch. But I heard she went back to dancing in the club, and I don't know why. Maybe she fell out with Jeff. After that, I went back to Manhattan. In the middle of the night. Elena knocked on my door and told me in a panic that she was in trouble and had to go abroad to hide for a while. But she didn't have enough money, so she asked me to lend her $10,000. To tell the truth, I didn't want to lend her the money, but she promised to pay me high interest, so I lent her the money and asked her to write an IOU. After a month, when I tried to contact her, I found that her phone had already turned off. This damn woman, I never should have lent her the money. That's all I know about Elena."

"I appreciate the information, but how do I know you're telling the truth?" I looked at her.

"I'm sure you wouldn't ask anyone on the street about Elena," said Rose, "When I met you in the elevator, you knew I was mistaken. But instead of immediately denying it, you continued to act with me. Does that mean you're interested in Elena, too? You want information about her from me, but you're afraid you'll pay for it with false information. I understand."

"Proof, I need proof," I said.

"The IOU Elena wrote me is still in my apartment in Manhattan," Rose said, putting out her cigarette in an ashtray and taking out her cell phone.

"I still have a lot of pictures of me and Elena on my phone." Rose clicked on the photo album to enlarge a picture. "Look, this is a picture of us dancing in a nightclub."

I saw Rose was topless with a woman in sexy lingerie and heavy make-up. The woman in the photo was overdressed, but I recognized her immediately as Mia. She was right, and she did know Mia and they worked in a nightclub together.

But I think I can get more out of Rose than that.

"I need more information, more evidence that Elena was with Jeff."

"That's another price," Rose said as she tucked the envelope on the table into her handbag. "Your balance is insufficient. Please renew it."

"Tell me what you have so I can decide whether or not to renew it." Mia has said she used to work in nightclubs to avoid being killed, and Frade knows that. After all, they met at nightclubs. The photo isn't enough to prove the relationship between her and Jeff.

"You can take a look at this." Rose held her phone up to me, and she clicked on a video. I saw two naked women on their knees performing oral s.ex on two men, and I recognized one of the men as Jeff. I saw the woman kneeling between his legs. She only showed the side of her face, but I was sure it was Mia.

I was so shocked. I couldn't believe the video was real. So Mia lied to me, and she lied to Frade.

After only 10 seconds of the video, Rose retracted her phone. She raised her eyebrows and looked at me.

"If you want the video, you have to pay an extra $10,000."

I regained my composure. The woman in front of me was a master bargainer. Every time she sent out a message, she would raise the price. She thought of me as one of her customers, and when she found out I was interested in her, she made up her mind to rip me off.

She can not take the initiative.

"I'm more interested in something else." I changed the subject. "What does Elena have to do with Camilla's death? Do you have any hard evidence of that, too?"

I saw that Rose's face had lost its smug look, and it was clear that she had little evidence of, or perhaps only heard of the affair.

"I can tell you what I saw," Rose whispered. "I can't prove it, but I saw Elena there after it happened."

Just in case, I took some extra money and put it in my purse. Now it was the time to use it——I took $10,000 out of my purse and put it on the table.

"As long as you tell the truth, the money is yours." I pointed to a pile of money on the table, "I believe you can take a few days off again."

Rose glanced greedily at the money on the table. Then she looked around. After making sure no one was eavesdropping, she whispered.

"As I said, Camilla and Elena fight a lot about money. The reason was that Camilla would always take Elena's share of the money and Elena would complain to me about Camilla's greed. When I got back to Camilla's house one day, I heard an argument upstairs. I went upstairs to see what was going on. When I got to Camilla's room, I saw her lying on the floor with a pale face. Elena was standing right next to her, looking at me in a panic. I immediately asked her what had happened. She told me that she and Camilla had just had an argument and that perhaps the anger had caused Camilla to have a heart attack. Then I offered to take her to the hospital. But Elena stopped me. She said that if Camilla died, the police would never find us. This was our best chance to get away from Camilla. I remember hesitating for a few seconds before agreeing with her. Then we left the dying Camilla in the room, packed our clothes and never came back."

"It sounds like you two are responsible for Camilla's death," I said.

"I'm not finished." Rose scratched at her hair, "After three days, I ran into my old neighbour on the street and he told me that the coroner had determined that Camilla had died from an overdose."

"So this isn't about you and Elena?"

"No, I remember clearly. For a time, it was Elena who took medicine for Camilla every night, and Elena bought it for her. At the time, I thought Elena had a good sense of taking care of the wicked woman. It turned out that she had already planned to kill Camilla."
