At this time, I found that my hands were tied to the sides of the head of the bed, and I grabbed the rope with my hands to slowly sit up.
Daley looked at me like he was looking at prey in a cage trying to escape.
He knew I had nowhere to run, but he still wanted to see what I would come up with. The prey that gives up resistance will only make him lose interest before slaughtering.
"I'm not your prey!" I glared at him. "Don't look at me like that."
"You lose your mind when you get angry," he said as he walked over to me and sat on the edge of the bed, "I taught you, didn't I?"
Yes, he was my teacher. He taught me how to hunt in the dark. He taught me how to be a good hunter. But he never told me what I would do if I became prey one day.
"If you knew I read your text message, why didn't you catch me in the first place?"
I was so stupid! I should have known that his eyes could see through my tricks.
"I'm just observing," he said, looking straight at me. "I want to know what you're going to do next."
"You're sending someone to follow me?"
"No, I'm just waiting," he said calmly. "I'm waiting for you to come to me."
"If I had confronted you that day," I said, "Would you have told me the truth about your relationship with Mia?"
"I think I will."
"Then I'll be like this, won't I?" I sneered. Maybe he'll let me know his plan, but he won't let me ruin it.
"Darling, why do you always choose to stand against me?" He looked at me with a hint of disappointment. "I have given you my forgiveness, my compassion and my love. But you have given me only betrayal."
"You lied to me first," I said bitterly. "You told me Mia was a w.hore. Why would you work with a woman you hate? Mia's return must have something to do with you, right?"
"I don't deny it," he said. "Although I used to hate that woman, her presence turned me against Frade. But now she's the best tool I have against Frade."
"You didn't tell me your plan because I won't get away with it." I moved the rope, and he used the strongest nylon rope and a knot I could never untie myself.
"So what do you want to know?" He asked.
"How did you find Mia?"
"Shortly after I returned home, my partner in Mexico told me they had found Mia," Daley said, "In fact, I have been secretly looking for that woman because she is the culprit that caused my exile in the family. I swore that if I found her, I would hang her and drain her blood. But things changed. Frade is now my biggest enemy."
"He's not your enemy. You're brothers," I explained.
"When he scratched my face for that bitch, we weren't brothers anymore," he said coldly.
"And I know that as long as Frade lives in this world, your heart won't belong to me completely." He gave me a deep look, "I know that no matter how hard I try, I can't take his place in your heart. So I called Mia, and I told her I'd give her some money if she ever found a way to get back to Frade, and I promised to keep her secret about betraying Frade."
"I guess you threatened her."
He must have threatened her first, then to seduce her. That was his usual tactic.
"So you let Mia show up at the right time and let me see them together. You think that's gonna make me give up on Frade?"
"As it turns out, Mia had plenty of ways to confuse Frade," he says with a smirk. "Her presence made Frade lose his mind."
I was silent, as he said.
It was Mia who seduced Frade into taking the drugs that caused his psychosis, Frade said. I'd seen the white powder on the table with my eyes.
"And I got you."
"No, you wanted the power of the Wilson family," I called him out. "You approached Tommy on purpose and tricked him into your investment. Did you kill Rose?"
He admitted it in silence.
I'm not surprised he killed Rose. What I'm really worried about is whether Tommy is involved in his drug business. I don't want the Wilsons to get involved.
"Vickie says most of your business involves drugs," I said. "You even set up your meth lab. Tell me, why are you doing this?"
"Drugs are the best place to start," he said bluntly, "And it's extremely profitable. Everyone knows that. As for my investors, they only care about earnings. They don't care about anything else. But don't worry, Tommy won't know it."
So Vickie was telling the truth. Damn it, why am I only realizing this now?
"Vickie won't let you do this," I said. "She's planning to shut down all of the Logan family's grey business, and your drug business is going against her plans. If you insist on doing this, she'll just kick you out."
"She already has, hasn't she?" Daley sneered, "Do you think I don't know that she's sending people to investigate me? But she's old now, and she's still lying in the hospital. As long as I'm doing things fast enough, control of the family will soon be in my hands."
"What are you doing?" I tensed up.
"Take it easy, honey." His hand rested on my bare thigh. I was wearing a night dress. He must have changed my clothes when I was unconscious.
"Soon I'll be done with this." His fingers moved up slowly. "I'll have the entire Logan family, and Frade will be gone from this world, forever."
No, no.
"Maybe we can get out of here." I tried to convince him again. "Go to Mexico or something. Just you and me. Let's live a good life. I promise you, I will always be there for you."
"For Frade?" He looked up at me. "I guess I lost to him. But it doesn't matter. As long as he's dead, you'll always be mine."
"Don't kill him," I finally begged him.
"I'm sorry, but he has to die." Daley stood up, his eyes gleaming. "Nothing can stop me."
"I won't forgive you." I stared at him.
He didn't respond. He just looked at me. Then he left the room. I tried to get up and catch up but forgot that my hands were tied and I couldn't get out of bed. I felt angry and helpless.
I told myself I couldn't cry, but I couldn't think of any way out of there. I hated myself for my incompetence and weakness.
Frade is still in the hospital. Is he okay? What would Daley do to him? The room was deathly quiet, but my mind was in a mess.
I waited quietly for Daley to return, but he didn't show up all night. When I finally fell asleep, the sound of the door opening rang in my ears.
But it wasn't Daley. It was another woman.
