I woke up immediately. The telephone is in my hand. I glanced at Liv in bed. She was still asleep. So I whispered on the phone, "I just woke up."

"Who are you with?" The caller demanded.

"Liv, my good friend."

"Come and see me, little rose," he said. "I have a present for you."

I wanted to tell him that I didn't care about presents, and that it would be nice if he would let me sleep an extra hour. Looking at the empty cans on the floor, I can't remember how many beers we had last night. Maybe Liv and I had three rounds last night. Before leaving the room, I went to the bathroom to wash my face with water and then rinse my mouth with mouthwash. I didn't want to look too embarrassed when I saw Daley later.

The door was unlocked and opened with a little push. There was a light in the sky and the room was dark. The curtains of the French windows were drawn to either side, and a shallow ray of sunlight fell on Daley. He was wearing a black suit with his back to me and his hands in his pockets.

I crept into the room like a guilty thief, and he turned his head. I saw the side of his face, the perfect side of his face.

"Have you been drinking?" He frowned a little.

"I was with Liv last night," I explained. "We just had some beers."

"I want my fiancee to explain to me what she did while I was away." Daley turned to me. "Tell me how you defeated the Moors."

I knew he would ask me that question, but I hadn't figured out how to tell him. Would he be mad if he knew Frade helped me with this? But if I lie to him, he is capable of finding out the truth. Or maybe he already knew the truth, and he was just testing me to see if I was being honest with him.

"The flash drive was taken by Mikeal, and with Frade's help I found another important piece of information that could hurt the Moore family. He gave it to the police." I hate to speculate. I didn't want to have to make up all kinds of lies just to think about his feelings.

When the lie is exposed, there is only endless argument and explanation.

"But I remember you promised me you'd give me the flash drive," Daley said calmly but questioningly. "You lied to me."

"I didn't lie to you." I looked up at him, "Things have changed. Mikeal wiretapped Liv's phone, and when he learns that Liv is about to give me the flash drive, he sends someone to grab her. To save Liv, I asked Frade for help. So I grabbed Jenny, the finance manager at Ron's, and I forced her to hand over information about Ron's illegal activities and get her to sign it. But it wasn't enough, so I broke into Roen's house and copied more illegal material from his personal computer, including the secret of his arms smuggling with Mikeal. I happened to notice that Ron was having an S & M with two women, so I called the police. Frade is in charge of the press. That's the way it is.

"And?" He asked.

"Mikeal offered to trade Gina for Liv, so I asked Frade to bring Gina to the exchange. But it was all a setup by Mikeal, who had a hit woman impersonate Liv and attack me during the exchange. At last, Gina fell into the snake's nest and was killed by the snake."

I told Daley what had happened like a prisoner who had confessed to the police, and he clapped his hands when he heard it.

"That sounds wonderful," he said in a complimentary tone. "I didn't even know my fiancee was that good."

"You don't sound like you're complimenting me," I wondered.

He wasn't even mad at me for losing the flash drive. I thought he cared about the flash drive. After all, it was his big weapon against Frade. Now that he has lost his competitive edge, he is calm.

It's strange.

"You're not mad that I lost the Flash Drive?" I scoffed, "I remember when I asked you to help an unemployed friend of mine get a job, you said no. You told me to focus on the flash drive."

"Should I be angry about what happened?" He asked. "I care about you. So you were with Frade when I left."

"We are just co-operating."

"When you learned that the flash drive was missing, you didn't ask for my help in the first place. You went to Frade." Daley's eyes were glued to mine.

"I don't think I need to explain myself to you."

"Did he touch you?" He said sharply. "Did you sleep with him?"

Slap!

I slapped him in the face.

He glared at me, his golden eyes full of murderous intent. He grabbed my wrist and said, "Next time, if you make me angry again, I'll make you regret it. I'm not kidding."

"Do you want to kill me?" I said coldly. "I've had enough of your endless suspicions about me. Maybe we should end this."

"No." He approached me. "We'll never be done."

"It's not up to you," I protested, "Now the Moore family is broken. Neither you nor Frade stand to gain from the competition. And you've lost the Green family. To be precise, Mikeal never wanted to work with you. He was just playing with you. Now that I've lost my value, do you still want to marry me?"

"Why not?" Daley scoffed. "I'm still engaged to you."

"So you don't care about the Logan inheritance at all, do you?" I said in a conciliatory tone. "If you want me to marry you, will you agree to give it up?"

"And?"

"We could go somewhere far away from the city, like Las Vegas," I tried to tell him about Vickie's plan bit by bit.

"Vickie doesn't want to see her grandchildren hurting each other over inheritance rights, and she wants you to make peace with Frade. She's agreed to leave all of Las Vegas to you."

"If we get married, will you leave here?" I looked at him carefully.

"Would you rather not see Frade for the rest of your life?" He asked.

"I can do it."

"But I can't," he said with a determined look of anger in his eyes. "Peace? F.uck it. You have no idea how hard I've worked for this day. I'm the only Logan heir."

I was stunned. It turned out Vickie was right. He had planned to go back to America. He cheated me.

"Is that why you brought hit men from Mexico?" I stared at him in disbelief. "Do you want to kill Frade?"
