So I quickly leaned over and put my ear to the woman's heart and listened to her heartbeat. The woman's heartbeat was extremely low, indicating that her life was in danger. She must be taken to the hospital at once.
Then Frade called me, and I hung up instead of answering. Then I looked at the nightstand and found a cell phone that I assumed belonged to the woman.
I used the woman's cell phone to call 911, where I gave Ron's home address to the officer who answered the phone and told the police that someone was injured and that we needed an ambulance immediately. After hanging up the phone, I found a white towel in the room and wiped my fingerprints off the phone before putting it in the woman's hand.
I used my phone to delete the security footage from Ron's house before I left the room. When I came downstairs, the woman who had just vomited was still lying on the floor. So I went to the backyard as fast as I could and climbed over the wall.
I stood by the side of the road clutching my cell phone as I was about to call Frade back. A sports car was speeding towards me from a distance. The speeding car suddenly stopped in front of me, the window rolled down, and Frade said to me in the car.
"Get in the car."
As I opened the door and sat in the passenger seat, Frade chided me as we drove.
"Why didn't you answer my calls?"
"I'm busy." I looked out of the car as a police car was driving to Ron's house and an ambulance was following the police. Two cars pulled up in front of Ron's house, one behind the other.
"Damn it, I'm talking to you," Frade said angrily. "I'm worried about you!"
"I'm sorry," I turned to him. "It was complicated. I'll explain later."
When the police enter Ron's house, they will find the woman he abused. Are they gonna arrest him for assault? No, I have to do one more thing.
"Frade, do you have a reporter's phone number?" I asked. "I just found out that my ex-husband has a thing for S & M, and he's a.busing women in his home. I think his gossip would be a bombshell for the media."
"HB Media is part of the Logan family business, and I think I can help you get that information out to reporters," Frade said.
"Any word from Mark?" I asked. "Did you get Gina out?"
"Don't worry, I'll answer you one question at a time," he said calmly, but the car was going very fast.
"I haven't heard from Mark. I tried calling him, but he's not answering," Frade said, "But I got your sister out. She's in the trunk of the car. You have no idea how much effort I put into getting her out. The bodyguard in charge of the guard was knocked unconscious by me, and one of them was injured."
"Are you all right?" I asked hastily. "Are you hurt?"
"I don't get hurt that easily," Frade said with a smirk.
"You didn't answer my call. I thought something had happened to you. So I drove over to find you. I'm glad you're okay."
He's worried about me? My heart is on edge.
Then a new message came. This is a message from Mikeal. I immediately opened the phone to check.
'See You in 15 minutes. You took my daughter. Mikeal.'
"Frade." My hand gripped the phone.
"What?" Frade asked.
"I want you to take me to Mikeal," I said.
"What do you mean?" Frade glanced at me. "Are you going to do the exchange alone? Eva, don't be silly. It's a trap, you know."
"Even if it is a trap, I must go." I decided. If there's a 1% chance I can save Liv, I'm going."
"Let me go with you," Frade said firmly. "It's too dangerous for you to go alone. Besides, you can't fight well-trained bodyguards. Let Me Go with you. I'll have my men meet us nearby."
He's right. It's too dangerous for me to go alone. Liv could die. But I don't want to owe him another. The more ties we have, the worse I feel.
"We'll be at your father's location in five minutes," Frade said in a voice that could not be denied. "You have no chance to say no to me."
The car turned left on the road into the hunting ground. I watched the car drive into the dense forest and texted Mikeal on my cell phone.
'I'm here.'
Frade called his men before entering the hunting grounds. He was secretly arranging for his men to lurk near the ground. My insecurities are getting stronger and stronger. I'm afraid it's going to be a tough fight.
The car stopped in front of a sign. I saw two bodyguards standing under the sign. They stopped the car. Then I opened the door and got out of the car. The cabin was right behind them.
"Where's Gina?" One of the bodyguards, who had a deep scar on his brow, approached me.
"Where is my friend?" I asked.
"We want to see Miss Green first," said the bodyguard.
"Where's your boss?" Frade asked, blocking my way.
"You want to see the boss?" said the bodyguard scornfully. "Don't dream. The boss won't come. You can deal with me directly."
Damn old fox, I should have known he wouldn't come. Then I said to the bodyguard.
"I have to see my friend first."
"Then you have to bring us the person we want, and we'll exchange hostages at the same time," the bodyguard said.
The bodyguard whispered something to his companion, who then walked into the cabin. Soon, another bodyguard walked over with a woman wearing a black hood.
Frade also pulled Gina out of the trunk of the car. Gina's hands were tied with rope and her mouth was taped. Frade pulled her arm forward. We keep a certain distance from each other.
"On the count of three, we'll make the exchange," Frade said.
When he counted to three, the bodyguards on the other side pushed the black-hooded hostage against me, and Gina broke free of Frade's hand and ran toward him.
When the hostage bumped into me, I noticed the black leather shoes she was wearing. Liv never wore black shoes, but by the time I realized it, it was too late. The fake Liv took off the hood and immediately pulled out a dagger and stabbed me in the lower abdomen.
Shots rang out, and I couldn't see who fired the first shot. When the dagger was about to enter my body, I gripped her wrist tightly with my hand. We're all pushing each other. But she was clearly stronger than I was, and I could feel the pain of the dagger in my muscles.
I saw a hideous woman's face in front of me. She stared at me fiercely. Then her face contorted. The woman let go of her hand and she knelt down slowly. The bullet went through her back.
"Run." Frade took my hand as his men emerged from the surrounding woods. They chased the two bodyguards with guns.
"Where's Gina?" I looked into the woods and saw a red-haired woman running as fast as she could.
"Don't go," Frade bellowed behind me.
But I ignored his advice and ran in the direction of Gina's escape. If I had lost Liv, I wouldn't have let Mikeal have his daughter.
Gunshots rang out behind her, and she ran like a red fox through the woods to escape the hunters. I'm right behind Gina. At that moment, a cross branch caught my foot. I fell down and got up immediately.
Gina was nowhere to be seen, so I scanned the area warily. I saw a wooden sign hanging from a tree that read "No-go Zone" and the sound of gunfire had faded behind me.
No one is allowed to enter the restricted area. Because it hides not only the fierce beast but also the deadly viper. But some stubborn hunters tend to ignore this warning. They prefer the thrill of the beast to the non-aggressive elk and rabbit.
Reason told me to turn back at once, just as I hesitated to move on.
Just then there was a rustle in my ear, the wind was blowing across my face, and a dark figure came at me.
